The food and the atmosphere were excellent. I took some colleagues there for a business meal. They raved about the food. The summer sangria was fabulous.
All of us enjoyed our meals. Nice menu with enough choices but not so many as to be overwhelming. Especially appreciated the use of seasonal, fresh ingredients! Great choice of signature cocktails and good wine selection. Our server, Cynthia was pleasant and helpful. Will definitely return and will recommend to others!
I have eaten at The Tasting room many times and I don't think this was as good as before.
The au gratin potatoes didn't have much flavor to them. I will always come back, the steaks are
My friend and I get together (once a month) and had a great time at the tasting room. The waiter was fantastic and was very attentive. The food and drinks were great and we had a great evening. Thank you!
Warmly welcomed, quickly seated and waiter (David) engaged us promptly. David gave the right amount of attention: never needed to look for him and he wasn't hovering. Perfect.
All 4 of us (2 vegetarians) were very happy with our meals, which is no small accomplishment. My filet was close to the best I've had. Simple presentation on a sizzling plate to bring the cut from MRare to a perfect medium. We will be back.
Great service delicious food located in the old city of Frederick. Worth the trip. I will be back
We went to celebrate one of the adult kids birthdays. Went to TR for Brunch. It was outstanding, again. Food was excellent from the Crab and asparagus omlette to steak and eggs, shrimp & Grits to the French Toast. All excellent.
Service was very good too. Trae did a fabulous job of being attentive to the group and also was excellent at providing not only recommendations but also providing details on how various items were made and where they came from.
This was our fourth or fifth visit to the Tasting Room and we always enjoy it. Looking forward to next visit.
The food and the service were excellent. The wine is good but pricey. It is a great venue for a special occasion.
Outstanding service on Saturday night 8 pm reservations. Just wonderful food, best filet I have had, the attention given the Caesar salad , which is usually boring was amazing with hard boiled egg wedge, anchovy, and dressing was perfect. Great bottle wine, dessert was amazing blackberry crisp. My husband had a skate fish special. Just a wonderful meal. Love this restaurant. Always good.
Overall we enjoyed the meal - our children particularly. But then they didn't have seafood for their main course. Both my wife (scallops), myself (monkfish) found them overcooked and perhaps not as fresh as one might hope for when paying this much.
Also, it's a very noisy room.
Awesome food, very good service! The dining room was noisy and uncomfortably hot. Still an excellent dinner.
Great menu, delicious food, cooked and presented with perfection. Small restaurant with basic table and chairs, view of the busy street. Noisiest bar I've ever seen. Very strange. Service is good but slow. How long does it take to bring water and bread to a table! There's an abundance of servers. The chef, the menu, the food... All belong at a beautiful old home with several dining rooms, chandeliers, tablecloths and a quieter atmosphere.
The Tasting Room is consistently awesome. Enjoy a business lunch, friend get together for drinks or awesome dinner. This is my staple when my dining partner asks where I want to go.
Wonderful food, terrific service. Just so loud it's hard to hear the person across from you.
Food was average and portions were small. Served me a Guiness in a brandy snifter. No draught, all bottles. Waiter was below average presenting a "you're an inconvenience" type attitude. Won't go back - there are many better options. Very loud for the number of people seated.
As always, the food was top notch! I had the New York strip and my wife the Monkfish. Just a tip on the steak, perhaps wait to serve until it has stopped sizzling, as the juices tend to still spring off the steak a bit and could get on a person's shirt, especially since the dining tables are modest in size. The service was excellent. The ambiance was OK. The candles at the table was nice, however the TV's at the bar all showed the same thing, and honestly, I think showing sports (which I am a huge fan of) takes away a bit of the allure to such a fine place. It just felt out of place. Tasting Room is a place you go to to get away from it all really, to enjoy great food, great company--a momentary food vacation so to speak. Showing a summer league basketball game is really a distraction from it all. Perhaps no TV at all, or hook the TV's up to a live web cam of Napa Valley, Italy-(a nice wine destination) or beach, since wine is what you do! That would enhance the atmosphere and really take your diners away into a luxuries food experience. The atmosphere is rather cold than warm, not a romantic atmosphere unless your at a window of course to see downtown Frederick. Unfortunately, the candle cannot compensate for the close seating between tables and the rather contemporary dry decor. Saying that, Tasting Room is still, in my mind, the best restaurant to go in Frederick, but I don't go there for the ambiance, I go for the food.
great meal, great service and a very nice summer menu. TR never disappoints.
As usual the food was fabulous and our server was very good. Unfortunately, where we were seated (in the back tables for two in an alcove area) the noise was unbearable. My wife and I couldn't carry on a conversation without yelling. I believe this is just the acoustics in this part of the restaurant as looking around no one appeared to be exceptionally raucous. In the future, we will not return unless seated in a different area.
This was our first time dining at The Tasting Room. We ordered shrimp for an app, and two entrees, Filet and Crab Cakes. The food was delicious, the filet was tender and perfectly cooked. We are looking forward to returning to The Tasting Room!
Five family members celebrated Granddaughter's 25th Birthday, Monday, July 25. Food was outstanding. Not a scrap of food left on anyone's plates. Monkfish dinner is amazing presentation. Panko shrimp appetizer is great. Server presented Granddaughter with bowl of chocolate ice cream with candle - nice touch. Service was excellent.
Excellent food, wonderful service, and one of the very best Frederick restaurants. We would highly recommend--for dinner or lunch.
Absolutely terrific food! The lobster soup is fabulous and the steaks and seafood are exceptional. It's fun sitting at a table by the windows and do some "people watching."
Excellent food; as always!! Superb! Never had a bad or even average metal there. A++++
Charming, sophisticated and lovely. The 3 course lunch menu fir $15 is a steal. I'd go more often if I lived closer.
I have never had anything other than great meals there - definitely worth driving an hour for lunch or dinner.
The food was amazing. The service was excellent, great atmosphere. I will be returning
We had an incredible dinner at The Tasting Room! The staff was very accommodating on a table mix-up and the bartender was wonderful and full of suggestions. The food was outstanding! Also, it is a really great atmosphere because it is dressy casual with fine dining food. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone going to Frederick.
Outstanding as usual. From the drinks to dessert, the Tasting Room never fails. We are frequent customers but recently have been traveling and missed our favorite go to place. We recently visited the west coast and dined at Spago, The Polo Lounge, Kitano and Michael Mina and more. The Tasting Room in our opinion ranks very high on our list of favorite restaurants!!
My only very minor complaint is that the server wasn't personable at all. I hate it when a server doesn't make eye contact when they are talking to you. For the prices I'm paying there I deserve undivided attention!
I had the special ceviche appetizer and the lobster chowder. Ceviche was very good but the chowder was lukewarm and tasted heavily of cream. Our server was not very attentive.
The food was exceptional. Each course was better than the one before. The lobster mashed potatoes and lobster chowder were amazing.
Nice food not mind blowing, attractive lunch menu 18 Sus.
Modern atmosphere in the main street of Frederick, would recommend
it for a casual meet up with friends
Restaurant was well presented in its website, but reality was a bit different. Table service was probably the best I have had in a long time, but the food was significantly overpriced and the hard chairs, small tables, and sparse furnishings contributed to a feel of a school cafeteria (though a fairly well appointed one). I doubt that I will go back.
We were really looking forward to having my birthday dinner at The Tasting Room based on a number of rave reviews that we had read. On the other hand, there were some negative reviews but much fewer. Unfortunately, our experience was not one of the positive ones.
The prices for entrees on the menu were all at least 10-15 percent higher than what was shown on OpenTable. The least expensive single glass of Chardonnay was $14. If the meal had been as good as we expected it to be, we would have overlooked the prices. We both ordered Monk fish with crabmeat stuffing. The presentation was nice but the flavor was totally bland. The bread did not seem to be something other than a plain white loaf bread.
The welcoming hostess was very pleasant; our waiter was not, he radiated snobbishness. Overall, a big disappointment.
The filet is beyond amazing!
Came here to entertain our out-of-town friends. We had a wonderful meal and a super time. The cocktails we ordered were outstanding, and the food that we ordered was delicious. We loved our waiter, David Campbell. He made the meal so enjoyable. We all talked about what a nice time we had. My only complaint is that the acoustics are bad...it is pretty loud there. However, the night we were there, (a Monday, but a busy night), we were able to carry on conversations with our group. Try the fillet...it is my go-to choice every time!
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and mentioned it on the reservation through Open Table. After we were seated, the waiter brought a complimentary glass of champagne and wished us well for the occasion. It was a nice touch to start off a wonderful meal. Thank you! :)
All good. Dishes prepared at the Tasting Room are consistently presented with cheerful and gracious servers. Menu choices are numerous and all tempting. Portions suitable. Always a wonderful dining spot. We visit at least two-three times/month, always looking forward to a tasty and satisfying meal, appetizer or drink.
Dinner is quite pricey, even compared with nice places in DC. Lunch is a better value. At dinner, monkfish was good, not great. Soft-shelled crabs were delicious. Service is very professional and personable. Interesting street scene highly visible through the large windows.
We truly hope that The Tasting Room continues to flourish in success; however, selfishly, we also hope that too many people don't discover it. Embraced by the scenery of downtown Frederick, Maryland, The Tasting Room continues to deliver a wonderful dining experience. The Specialty Drinks, the menu variety and classy presentation is complimented by genuinely warm and personable service. We enjoy visiting Frederick and The Tasting Room has become a fixture for us as a "must return" destination.
