The Tasting Room

Fresh local ingredients and unwavering consistency have been the benchmarks for this ultra-successful Michael Tauraso establishment.
Consistently great food and service. This is one of those restaurants that makes dining out a real experience.
Excellent service, delicious food, and all around a great experience. Will definitely be back.
We had a great meal and the service was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and gave great suggestions and recommendations throughout our visit. We will go back.
Good food, wine and service. Was our first time and we will be back! Cynthia you were awesome!
In the past couple years they have stepped up their seafood dishes. Excellent grouper dish and scallop dish.
You just can’t beat the filet at The Tasting Room, always perfectly prepared and just amazing. The scallops were just as amazing! Always worth the trip, never a disappointment
As usual our dinning experience was excellent. From the preparation of the food to the attentive service everything was without fault. Our server Gail was very attentive, she did not rush us. The Tasting Room is a class operation, it’s one of the reasons it’s our go to restaurant for special occasions and when out of town guests are visiting.
My husband and I drove in from Pittsburgh to eat here! Why? Because this was where we had our first date 15 years ago in June. It was every bit as amazing now as it was then. I wish we lived closer so that we could send more friends there.
The only critique I have is that the candles should have been lit. It took a little away from the atmosphere. And the cheese board had good cheese, but I would’ve preferred to know what cheese I was getting before hand. And it could have been a little more put together. Perhaps some walnuts, or honey help with the great cheeses that were on the board. And while the bread with it was great, I don’t feel like it went with the cheese.
We will certainly be back for another anniversary dinner !!!
Shrimp and grits are among the best we’ve had.
Overpriced and pretentious. Food was just a cut above average and the noise level created a sports bar like environment
I have been to The Tasting Room many times and am never disappointed in the quality food preparation and the excellent service. It's one of my favorite restaurants in Frederick.
Wonderful experience- crab was exceptional. Enjoyable informative service. Very nice dining experience
Had an amazing evening for my wife’s birthday dinner. The food is always delicious but the atmosphere and the service are second to none
The service is always outstanding. The manager is extremely kind and professional. We were celebrating our anniversary and were given a complimentary champagne to celebrate. The only thing that was disappointing was that our steak was cooked well and we ordered medium.
Great service and people. Food is always top notch
Great food and great service, consistently. Our table had the salmon, the filet mignon, pork chop and lamb. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Clearly, the best restaurant in Frederick!
We were once regulars at The Tasting Room, though we live around 40 miles southeast of it. We haven't visited there for a few years, and, although the food was great (as expected), and our server was wonderful, we were quite surprised to find that each food item on the menu was $5-7 more expensive than restaurants that we frequent of comparable caliber to The Tasting Room. The wine list was splendid, and those offerings were within similar price ranges to other restaurants. Our dining experience was lovely and we did enjoyed our evening there very much!
Server was very polite. Food was amazing! Drinks were delicious. Place is a tad small so I highly recommend making a reservation.
This restaurant is a wine tasting venue. Unless you are going solely for the wine I recommend giving it a pass. The food is over priced and bland, I guess to not compete with the wines. The portion sizes were quite varied, without being able to tell from the menu how much you would get. I would suggest eating elsewhere and stopping here for drinks.
Always a sure thing! Outstanding service. Outstanding food.
Meal was excellent. That was likely the best Filet I've ever had at The Tasting Room. Service was good, friendly and attentive. Only suggestion I would make is a business casual dress code.
The food and service was exceptional. Everything about dining at the Tasting Room was wonderful.
I've been to many restaurants in Frederick but The Tasting Room remains my favorite.
Consistently well prepared meals and excellent service. My family, friends and I will
keep coming back.
Food is always great and service is perfect. Love the place and will come back!
Celebrated our anniversary here. Service, food and atmosphere was phenomenal.
Both the Monkfish and Rockfish dishes were superb. I ordinarily choose their filet mignon which is always outstanding but wanted something different and was very pleased. Great service and wine selections are always present at this establishment.
That place always provides a great meal. Best steaks in Frederick, but their seafood is amazing also!!!
As always, its the best food in Frederick. Is it cheap?? Nope, but its the only place that I can order anything on the menu and it is better than any other place. My wife and I hit this place up a few times a year and its perfect!!
Tasting Room continues to be our favorite and go to restaurant!
Food was really good as always. Spanish shrimp had a slightly different flavor. More smoke than sherry but still good. Mains were perfect.
I took my mom and my newborn baby girl here for Mothers Day Brunch and it was absolutely perfect. We got the Lobster whipped potatoes and shrimp and Grits and it was delicious! For desert we had the carrot cake and berry cheesecake and that did not disappoint either ♥️
Service was slow. Took 20 minutes to get a drink. Steak was over cooked, crab dip was bland. The Caesar salad was very good. The Positive is the 2nd round of drinks were free because it took so long. Not worth 50.00 for a steak. Plan on spending 200.00 not including tip for 2 people.
We’ve been dining at the Tasting Room for decades, and it has never disappointed. We had another wonderful dining experience there this past weekend. The lobster chowder alone is worth the trip—two hours drive for us!
We have eaten here several times and the food and service are always outstanding. Love the varied menu and atmosphere and location are great.
Great food and service
Tasting Room has the best Happy Hour in town. Most unique cocktails! Our dinner was amazing! We both got New York strip, was absolutely delicious! Thumbs up!
I usually get the Filet, as it is usually "perfectomendo" can't miss option #1. This time I opted for the 22 ounce Cowboy bone in Ribeye ( a bit more medium than medium rare as ordered) and lobster whipped potatoes. Steak was good, rubbed in rosemary, but I am a bigger fan of the Filet. The lobster bisque is good too.
So my go to place for the best coldest Martini in frozen glass with blue cheese olives, Filet Mignon medium rare, awesome scalloped potato and house salad around $100+, add a Maryland crab cake on and you will not be dissapointed!
Tell 'em Airplane Jon sent you. Fly on...Tailwinds and good food to you.
Food and service were wonderful.
