The Tap In Pub & Carvery Ratings and Reviews
We stopped here to eat after a get together with friends. Thought it would have been more crowded with basketball finals on. They have virtual golf which looked fun. Our server was friendly and service was good but should have been since place was almost empty. Food was good but there is no healthy option for fries. Although the fries were fabulous.
This was our first visit to this restaurant and we were quite disappointed. We were initially given a nearby table's appetizer and returned it to the waitress. We waited half an hour for our appetizer then were told that the order had not reached the kitchen . Then we were advised that the appetizer would be ready at the same time as the food and we were given the option of taking it home without being charged for it which was a reasonable compromise. We had 2 waitresses serving our table so maybe this added to the confusion? The food was nothing special and our fries were way too salty. So unlike our teenage sons to leave their fries so they must have been bad! The menu is limited, mainly burgers and sandwiches and our guess is this place is geared up mainly to cater to people staying at the adjoining hotel wanting a quick meal.
Golf simulators and a bad wait staff...This place used to be about the food, but apparently that wasn't working. Now they have golf simulators and are trying to cater to guys that like to golf. Either be a bar or a restaurant. Either way, the food is now average and the bar is not that good. Wait staff is poor and I feel they have no idea what the place is either.
We went for NYE and there was just about no one there except our group of 10. Not sure why, as the place was great! Good service, really good food, and fantastic drinks! Not only did the bartender make great drinks, but they have a good selection of craft brews as well. I think that most people just don't know about this place, but it is right by Hotel Arista. There is also a parking garage right next to it, making parking super easy. The location may seem a bit weird, but it is a great find! Highly recommend it!
I've dined here twice now - once with my husband, and most recently with a group from work. The food is very good - I recommend the homemade chicken pot pie special on Tuesday evenings. They have a varied menu with something for everyone; decent wine selection, and full bar. Service is very good. Decor is a fun golf theme and you can take home a logo golf ball as a souvenier. Its a bit tucked away near Hotel Arista off Route 59 but a convenient location with good parking options.
This place is a must go to in Naperville. My wife and I are foodies and love a good dining out experience while consuming delicious food. Our expectations were exceeded. To top it off, all kids meals are $1 and were probably the best kids meal we have received at a restaurant. Everything was homemade. Also, The $1 is donated to the Naperville School District. The menu is wide enough to appease the pickiest eaters as well.
Unfortunately for them, the waitress looked miserable to have what was her only big table for the night. Place was dead yet she acted so uninviting to my group of 11 women! Food was good for the most part. not a bar atmosphere, much quieter than I thought for a Pub. Bar was not stocked with anything the girls asked (simple requests likes pinapple and Malibu) won't ever be returning! Yt
Food here was not great. Nachos had little spiciness & consisted of a melted mound of cheese & meat atop grease soaked chips. Pastrami sandwich was poor quality meat on a greasy pretzel roll. Meatloaf was fair as were the Chi Town dogs. Mac. & cheese ok , but nothing special. Disappointing meal overall. We won't be returning.
We had dinner at The Tap In Pub. Very disappointed. The menu was limited and the food was fair. If your a beer drinker you may enjoy it more. I am a vodka drinker and the selection was very limited. I was shocked that they didn't have Absolute......it wasn't like I was looking for a high end vodka.
We had already eaten here a few times, and this time we brought friends along for lunch. We were not disappointed. The menu is great and the service was also. We are lucky to have the Tap In right across the street from where we live. We will definitely be back, and will bring other friends as well.
We have been here at both lunchtime and evening, both weekday and weekend. The food and service are consistently excellent.
The service at this restaurant was bad to say the least. We had a table for 8 and had a brand new waitress serving us and she had no help. Took forever to get the first round of drinks served. The restaurant was not that busy. The explanation was that the bartender was busy. We'll our drink order consisted of 4 cans of beer and 2mixed drinks and water. Sorry but it should have taken 5 minutes to serve this order. Our food order was the same it took approximately 45 minutes to be served from the time the waitress took our order. We arrived at this restaurant at 5:30 and didn't leave until 7:45. Like I had said before this establishment was not that busy. This restaurant will have to do better, otherwise it will not survive.
The chef has clearly put in some thought on the menu choices and the presentation is thought out as well. The pizza is good and the sauce has a sweetness to it. This may be a busy place during the week (it is in a hotel) but when we arrived at 6:30pm on a Saturday, there was only one other table seated. Other people did stop in is as the night went on but it is a quiet place even though I don't think it was designed to be.
If you love fried foods then this is the place for you. Not many choices if you want something light and somewhat healthy. Even the salad had fried chicken and the soup was cream based. I love fried foods but it would have been nice to see some more salad choices and some more soup choices that weren't cream base. I know this place is suppose to be comfort food but I left feeling smothered. Very Heavy. The place is darling with a great golf theme and the serving staff couldn't have been nicer and so accomodating so I gave them a 5 star. Just need to work on adding some extra lighter fares.
This location has been many different restaurants, but we wanted to give it a try under the new name/management. It was a good first experience. I had the Pastrami sandwich and found it to be moist and flavorful. My wife had both the crispy chicken salad and the Mac 'n Cheese. She found the salad to be a bit spicy (moreso than expected), but the Mac 'n Cheese was very good. We will go back to try their buffet for lunch sometime and the food was good enough to eat there again for lunch or dinner.
Nice little spot. Had the Friday bbq special and chef did an excellent job preparing the burgers and brats. One of the few places that doesn't overcook their burgers. Also tried some of the appetizers and can recommend the potato skins, ribs and especially the tenderloin mushroom wontons. Grilled corn was exceptionally sweet and the prices are reasonable.
I had really been looking forward to trying the "Tap in" & the food was well worth the wait. The location, decor and service all seemed off in comparison to the food, however I was told they had just opened 2 months earlier & I am really hoping that with a little more time and effort they will work out the kinks.
The house made pickle jar served with their sandwiches was brilliant & their cottage fries were perfect. The "Thanksgiving Sliders" & the "Buffalo chicken" sandwich as well as the pizza were also done very well.
We would go back & certainly hope they do continue to improve most everything, but please leave the food as is.
We went on a Saturday night and there were only 3 other parties of people there besides us. They are new, have great ideas, but need business to pick up or they will be closed in a month. The servers were very nice but didn't know enough about the food. The food was good but the crust of the pizza was overcooked and was burnt on the bottom. The stuffing was very soggy. The soup and appetizer were very good though. They have potential but need to advertise.
