   You are given 2 lunch menus which seem to duplicate each other being rather confusing. Fish and chips excellent but spoilt by horrible cheap ketchup. The ceasar salad swimming in too much sauce and over powered by 20+ fillets of anchovy...... A pint of boys bitter at £6 and a cup of tea at £3.50 a bit racy to say the least. Pity because it's a great venue.

   Above average Pub food served in very nice surroundings by very pleasant and helpful Staff. My roast beef was pink but rather chewy and tasteless, so disappointing. Vegetables excellent. probably reflects low quality of commercial beef avaialable. Sorbet as Dessert was excellent.

   Food was good, though not outstanding. A bit pricey perhaps. Let down by rather poor service. When offered the dessert menu we had to point out that we hadn’t had our mains yet, and then there was a long wait for those to arrive - I think they’d been forgotten. At the end of the meal we waited a long time for some attention, and eventually got up and went to the bar to ask for the bill. The place was notably quiet for a Saturday evening; it needs to tighten up on service.

    The meals were really lovely. The service, however, was appalling! No attention provided and when we asked for a change in the size of chips to skinny, we were told that the kitchen was too busy. One of our party was having and had skinny chips and the restaurant was less than a quarter full.

    The staff were polite but not particularly attentive. The food was well seasoned however the Beef was very tough and there was no Chicken so perhaps just an ordering/supply issue on the day. I have enjoyed past visits so hope this was just an off day

    Interesting venue. Food ok but nothing special. Didn’t know we had to book Christmas special but after speaking with the chef said they could provide the main course. Plentiful but turkey roll tasteless as was the gravy, veggies overcooked although potatoes ok. Nice venue to meet up with friends so it didn’t matter.

    Unfortunately the sandwiches had very little filling so not satisfying and very few. Scones were delicious but cakes were not the nicest I've had. Could do with being tastier. Room very cold and service slow

    We were the only guests (4) in the whole restaurant on a very quiet Sunday afternoon. We had booked in advance for afternoon tea. Our dietary requirements had been acknowledged and the tea was reflective of this so this was good. There were 3 members of staff working at this time, however, every time we were running low on tea, milk, cream etc, we had to get up from our table and go to find a member of staff and ask them to replenish. They weren’t busy or very attentive. Two weeks from Christmas and the conservatory we were eating in had no festive feel to it, no background music and was cool in temperature. We noticed the adjoining dining room was laid ready for breakfast the next morning and had a lovely Christmas tree so it was a shame we couldn’t have been in there. The food itself was standard although a nod to the festive season was included with a mini mince pie.

    The hotel was lovely and the room at the back overlooked the garden, which was extremely pleasant, and we enjoyed our afternoon tea, looking out to the green. My only criticism would be that we waited awhile to receive our hot drinks after receiving our plates of sandwiches and cakes, which was a shame because we had to start eating before we had anything hot to drink. The afternoon tea platter was really lovely, a good selection, but we would have liked more selections of the small cakes because there were only three choices. The service was very attentive and very polite and we enjoyed ourselves extremely we would definitely go back on another occasion and hopefully the hot drinks with come out of a bit sooner.

    The Talbot Hotel is a lovely old inn, but there some refurbishment is needed. We ate in the conservatory. When we got there we were the only people sitting down which was rather disconcerting, but after a while other tables became occupied. We had roast beef as it was Sunday lunchtime. The food was very good although the plates could’ve been hotter. Service was excellent.

    As always, the lunch was excellent- quiet table (which I requested as I have a hearing problem), delicious food/drink and very quick attentive service. Thoroughly recommend.

    Very empty for a Friday night at 7.30. Food was ok, if a little lacking in salad/vegetables included in price. Hopefully Christmas Day will have more atmosphere and maybe some music?

    A quiet mid week lunch. There were 2 other tables occupied with 2 staff covering the bar and the restaurant. Unfortunately there were no gluten-free pizza bases available and hadn’t been for a few weeks so anyone with a gluten allergy hoping to have pizza should check before booking. The chicken salad was tasty and well presented. The fries were crispy and fluffy as they should be.
