About this restaurant

The Talbot is a 16 century coaching inn, in the historic independent state of Cuckfield, where the building was once used as a courthouse for the local area. Now very much a much a Foodie destination for modern British cooking with our elegant courthouse restaurant, using the best of Sussex produce. Our separate bar replicating the modern approach to our fine wines and local cask ales making The Talbot a great destination time and time again.

We had a family meal for a special birthday and the food was 'fine' but nothing to rave about. We had the roast dinners and they were a bit hit and miss. 2 of them were lovely but 2 were not so great and we should really have sent them back. It wasn't so bad that we won't eat there again but we probably wouldn't have the roast. We ate upstairs but because the ceilings are so high it is very noisy and at times difficult to hear, we would have preferred to eat in the pub downstairs and we will make sure in future we ask to sit there.

Excellent food and great discount offers at lunch time. Marvellous to order a rare steak and find it is cooked to perfection. Great choices for foodies and plain eaters, all beautifully presented.

We had 4 different main courses a couple of starters and desserts, it varied between excellent and exceptional!

We enjoyed our lunch at the Talbot. Beautifully presented, generous servings and good value for money. The belly of pork more than satisfied the carnivore and the sea bream was delicious. My only small criticism would be the lack of seasoning in the soup. Otherwise, delightful. We shall be back!

We've been to this pub a few times now and it has always delivered great food and service. It offers an excellent modern british menu with lots of locally sourced food. Great atmosphere in the evenings for group celebrations and very child friendly for a family lunch. Definitely recommended.
