Went for our anniversary. First house starter was simply delicious! Carrots and red pepper purée. Great start! Mushroom appetizer was very disappointing. Cold potato in the bottom, poach egg wasn’t runny, and mushrooms were very bland. Flank steak and scallops were amazing. My husband pork shoulder was amazing. Dessert was just as delicious as our main course! Affogato and pana cotta with pineapple (to die for!) Will definitely be back.
Our server was excellent and our food was wonderful. We got to sit out on the patio and that was very nice

We were in Utica to attend my daughter’s graduation and went to the Tailor and the Cook restaurant to celebrate. We were not disappointed. The service and the food was excellent. I appreciate the farm to table concept. I would definitely go back again.
We had one of the best meals we’ve ever had. The bartender, Joseph, is a friendly and highly knowledgeable mixologist, and makes a great drink. Our server, Meredith, was equally friendly, knowledgeable, and highly attentive. Every part of our meal had a level of sophistication that we rarely see, even in NYC restaurants. This is most definitely one of the finest restaurants in CNY.
The Tailor and the Cook, unfortunately, did not live up to the surrounding hype. I live in a larger city and I eat out quite often at high-end restaurants. I understand value and talent and appreciate 'out of the box' menu items and cooking techniques. I ordered the fish special for the evening- halibut. The size of the fish was very small for the cost of the dish ($39) and it was not seasoned or accompanied with sides that would live up to that price. For a lack of better words, it felt basic and disappointing. This was the first and last time eating there. The service and staff were very friendly and the atmosphere is nice.
Great meal and great service! Also the bar has some great original cocktails.
We visit Taylor and The Cook every year for our anniversary and with every visit gets better and better. The service, ambience, and food is beyond compare to anywhere else in the area. You will not eat any better! Emily has taken care of us the past few times and is awesome, along with the rest of the staff. If your looking for great food and a awesome experience, look no further.
Our waiter Devon was very accommodating and helpful. I should have tipped him more than I did. Service was nicely paced. Food was very tasty, complex and savory although my wife did not like her side of eggplant. Enjoyed one of the larger tables.

Where to start? In the interest of full disclosure, I once worked at The Tailor and The Cook. It was during my short stint as a bar back there that I became obsessed with the finer nuances of food and drink. I left there to pursue a different career path but my love of good food never left me.
This evening, I was finally able to bring my wife’s parents to enjoy this unique dining experience. I was in luck to do so during fiddlehead season. We had a reservation at 5:00 pm and were promptly seated. Our infant daughter sat at the head of the table in a high chair which was incredibly clean, unlike so many other establishments I’ve visited since she was born.
We were welcomed as old friends and were treated to an amuse bouche, which was so delicious, it only served to place my appetite into overdrive, and a welcome round of sparkling white wine from Lakewood Vineyards, a Seneca lake vineyard in NY. The sparkling white reminded me of a wonderful Prosecco I’d had when I first started there, the name of which escapes me currently.
We proceeded to order our appetizers and entree’s. As I previously stated, I was thrilled to be there during fiddlehead season. I ordered the Fiddlehead Toast, which I had seen on their Facebook page and couldn’t wait to try. It didn’t disappoint. The flavors were wonderfully earthy and when mixed with the richness of the poached egg, came together and danced the most wonderful waltz on my tongue. I savored every last bite but soon it was time to move on to the main course.
My entree was a Soy Braised Pork shoulder and I was transported from the first bite. This Asian influenced dish brought me right back to my time in Japan eating at Nobu or any other establishment specializing in fine Asian cuisine. The pork shoulder was fork tender and the accoutrements came together in a way which really showcased the immense talent and passion of the cooking staff..

The service from the minute I walked in the door until I walked out the door was Excellent! I had an appetizer and it was excellent. My main meal taste was excellent but it could have been a little hotter in temperature. I even had dessert which I never do but it was excellent. The only other comment is that there was more noise than I would have liked it but there were a lot of people there and that is because it is such a great place to go. I would recommend it and I will go back.
The service was excellent the dinner was a complete disappointment.

We were immediately created by the host as soon as we walked in the door. He was very gracious and very friendly and quickly showed us to our table. We had the tasting menu with wine paring. The food was excellent. Wine pairings were very good. The service was excellent too. Tim and Devon were professional and very attentive. The aesthetic of the restaurant was very comfortable with exposed brick and wood finishes, beautiful flower rangement’s and artwork. Just a lovely meal in a fun environment with very nice people. We will definitely go back.

Tailor and the Cook sets the standard for the Utica area. We have been there many times, and it has always been extraordinary. This time we had a scallop appetizer followed by the roast beef tenderloin, and they were cooked perfectly. Our server was friendly, courteous, and helpful. We'll be back.
This is always an excellent experience from our server Eileen to the food. I do not see a way you could come away from here with anything less that full satisfaction.
Have been to Tailor and Cook several times. This experience was different than the rest. Overall I felt like because we had an early reservation we were under constant observation because the table would be needed. Our table was near the waiters stand where orders are placed in the computer. There is a 3/4 wall serving as a divider and servers were reaching over the wall to remove plates , fill water glasses etc. We ordered 2 appetizers. While the flavor was there, it looked hastily thrown together. The main courses were delicious all though we constantly being asked if anything could be cleared when we obviously still eating. Our party actually skipped coffee and dessert as we felt it would disrupt the flow. Not our best experience there.

Upon entry we had a welcome greeting, we asked to sit at the bar prior to sitting for dinner and they happily obliged. The bar tender and waiters were great, the service was great and the food with wine pairing was excellent! We were impressed that our dinner choice had part of the proceeds going to our local Kelberman Center! Great job, see you soon!
Tasting menu was delicious. Charcuterie appetizer had some wonderful choices. We had a picky eater with us and our server did an amazing job fulfilling his requests without any visible signs of irritation (not easily done).
Our server, Meredith, was phenomenal, the entrees and amuses bouches were exceptional. The Tailor and the Cook never disappoints!

What an amazing evening! Patrick our bartender very friendly and made a great Cosmo ( I am very picky on how they are made). Dinner was outstanding!!! Our waitress Taryn recommended a great wine from New York state, and I don't like wines from New York as they are generally not a full bodied wine. Taryn also recommended the cheese platter which was just simply mouth watering! Next we had the Tandoori half chicken and the Roast Beef medallions. The food was full of flavors that just exploded in your mouth. Hands down best food in New York! We travel a lot and dine in 5 star restaurants. Honestly, the waitress was extremely knowledgeable and friendly! Food was just amazing!
