We showed up with 2 extras to an already large party of 6. Host was gracious, accommodating and went out of his way to make it work. Good was
Wonderful (2nd visit for us) and arrive was top notch.
The food and service here is way beyond any other restaurant in our area. And the cocktails are exceptional.
Disappointed that my wife’s halibut was under cooked. Noisy with patrons in very close proximity to one another. A little over priced and not very impressed with our appetizer and meals
OMG!! Awesome experience. First class service from arrival through finish. Great food and wine. Loved it.
We were in town for one night and took a shot based on the description. It was better than advertised!!!
Best fine dining restaurant in Utica and the surrounding area.
Overall we had a fine experience here. My dad's fish was a little cold but he didn't speak up until later. The only thing that folks agreed was the low point was the salad which just wasn't that interesting. My Filet was great. Pricey but within range of restaurants of this kind. Nice to have a new place in Utica for when I visit my parents in ilion.
Never have complaints here! Always a great experience and the food is top notch!!!
My husband and I went to the Tailor and Cook in August and then took my brother in law and his wife for a birthday dinner. We all enjoyed it...my sister-in-law thought it was the best restaurant she had e er been to. Great food and service.
Great staff, polite, and professional! Very knowledgeable about the menu.
Had a very
Nice meal service was very good but got seated in a very small table kind of next to the bar and was not happy with that
Had a great dinner here Monday night. The food was excellent as was the service. Probably the BEST restaurant in town. We would definitely return here the next time we're in Utica.
Our dinner was wonderful! The service is perfect.
We had a very enjoyable time for our anniversary dinner. I think your restaurant is a bit too classy for country western music. I guess it depends on to whom you want to appeal. Staff was great. The menu was different. The scallops we're delicious. The bartender, Joseph, was a delight. Thank you
Like always the food was fantastic. The server was great to help one of our party to figure out what dish would be best for his dietary restrictions.
We drive in from Syracuse 4 times a year, please open in Syracuse! Use the same format, same purveyors..The music is fantastic, the food is delicious, vibe is friendly and welcoming.
Wife and I enjoyed a great date night at this fine establishment. Great food, atmosphere, and drinks. Should definitely check this place out!
This restaurant is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. The menu choices are interesting and unique. The presentation was perfect and the staff was knowledgeable. The restaurant interior was really cool and the overall experience was fantastic.
We have been to Tailor & the Cook several times and always have an amazing dinner and the atmosphere is awesome. Love Farm to table dishes. Staff describes every meal item from where it was locally grown. Whether your celebrating a special occasion or just want a unique meal, this is the restaurant to dine at.
Our second visit last night outdid the first, which we thought impossible. From the prompt greeting and seating (OpenTable reservation secured the hard-to-get table at this popular restaurant, even on a Tuesday in August!) to quick drink orders, the night was off to a great start. Our server recommended the Chef's Tastings Special, a series of courses starting with the best clam chowder (we're from Boston, so that's saying something!), a luscious veal brisket, and a blueberry lemon curd torte. Thankfully my husband ordered this and shared! My daughter ordered the Duck Carnitas and I had Grilled Beef Sirloin with Scallops. We selected Brioche Savarin for dessert, knowing the flavors wouldn't clash with my husband's dessert. For ALL of it we could only say W-O-W! Any time we are passing through Upstate, we will gladly detour to include a stop at Tailor & the Cook.
Love this restaurant! Food is excellent, service is professional and friendly, and atmosphere is cosy and unpretentious. I have eaten at many great restaurants around the world, and this one is one of my favorites. The ingredients in the food are local and so fresh, and the recipes are original while also prepared in a classic and traditional way, making the food reliable without being boring. Perfect balance! We will be coming back frequently and look forward to each meal!
Lovely and tasty 😋
Never been disappointed with my visits to T&C. I’m from California and wish I could take the restaurant back with me.
We started our dinner with a local cheese board - all the cheeses were excellent, I had the halibut and my dining companion had the sirloin both meals were delicious. There was a nice selection of wines a some nice New York State selections.
Great experience all around. Food was amazing. Service stupendous and they all know and care about the food they are serving.
We had an excellent meal accompanied by great service. Both my husband and I ordered the same dish. His dish was wonderful and the cut of meat was perfectly cooked. My same exact entree, on the other hand, was tough. It was like the cut was different, except it was not. The flavor was very good, but the meat itself tough. The waitstaff and chef could not have been more accommodating and comped us that dish while offering to make something else. They were extremely generous. I suspect the leg of veal, which was the entree, was not cut well by the butcher who delivered cut, resulting in a more tendon filled portion. It is a hard cut to work with in general. I will definitely be returning to the restaurant as all our other entrees/apps were excellent. They also had a nice selection of local bourbons and NY state wines. Normally we are not NY state wine fans, but I have to say, with our waiter’s help, we were pleasantly surprised.
Food was amazing, atomsphere is dark and homey, service was attentive and accommodating. Make sure you have a reservation, it's usually pretty busy. We definitely will be back.
We have been coming here for our wedding anniversary every year .. you never fail to dissapoint with food options, service , and atmosphere. Always recommend to family and friends.
The food was excellent except that the veal was difficult to chew. Perhaps because it was grass-fed veal which is ok but needed a sharper knife to cut it. The drinks are a little on the expensive side but it should help to keep you limited and not have too much to drink.
Service was fantastic and attention to detail was perfect. We will return.
Best food in town! Everything was spectacular! Love the Tailor and The Cook!
Food was great—excellent ambience—our server was extremely helpful. The only reason I didn't assign 5 stars was the slowness in our being seated. But overall a great find in Utica. Would go again.
We drive through Utica a couple times a year on our way to NYC, and every time we go for dinner at Tailer & the Cook. Our whole family enjoys good food made with local ingredients which is why we're always so excited to have dinner here. The menu changes depending on the season, but the chefs always knock it out of the park, not to mention their unique cocktails that simply fantastic. Beyond cocktails, their craft beer and wine list (which boasts local wines that are perfectly paired with your meal) offer a great variety that's sure to include something to everyone's liking. I can't say enough good things about this place, keep doing what you're doing, because we plan to keeping coming back again and again!
Other than the bar tender not knowing the difference between sweet and dry vermouth the experience was fun, upscale, special, delicious, and worth the price. Great service and lovely atmosphere
The menu has unusual entrees that were exceptional in preparation and taste. Service was impeccable.
It was our 25th anniversary and they treated us very special! All staff interactions were outstanding! Food was great too!
Excellent overall experience. Vegan risotto not amazing, but a valiant effort. Cheese board, salads, bread, desserts all fantastic. Yummy cocktails. Service a little slow, but was later in the evening, so I think some servers had gone home for the night. Definitely worth the drive and loved hearing about the origins of all our food!
We were treated so well that we felt entirely as if it were a very special evening, when all it was was a Monday. We were thrilled and grateful and ate the best meal perhaps ever in a restaurant. Fabulous.
I think this restaurant is the best restaurant in the Syracuse/Utica area. It reminds me of a good bistro in the Soho or West Village in NYC. Same ambiance and food quality. Only Defi Restaurant in Syracuse is similar but not quite up to Taylor and the Cook Yet. Other "higher end" restaurants in Syracuse area serve very good food but I don't remember what I ate a week later. At Taylor and the Cook, I will..
Literally the best service I’ve ever experienced. So attentive, smooth and coordinated.
We drove 50 miles to have a special Anniversary dinner with friends and it was well Worth it. Will make it a regular part of our dining options . The food was great, presented beautifully and the service was wonderful! There were two minor things that could have been better but they did not change the whole wonderful experience. One was that we didn’t get ice with our water and the fried polenta was over cooked. Can’t wait to return!
