This was our first time here. We will definitely return. Everything was exceptional. Highly recommended. It was a nice way to celebrate a birthday but you don’t need a reason to eat here. You will enjoy your evening.
We were in town to celebrate an anniversary. Staff was attentive. Service timing was very good. WE LOVED EVERYTHING from the amuse bouche to desert as well as the complementary sparkling wine and brownie after dinner. We’ll return next time we are in town.
Our first time there.
Had a wonderful meal. Great service.
Loved the ambiance!
Will recommend to friends and family.
Love the place. Only mini-negative was my choice of fare. I got the veal leg. Knowing that it wasn’t braised, I took a gamble on the meat being tough, and it was. Tasty, but the need for healthy back teeth, and patience with swallowing, was at a premium. My wife got the filet, and it was awesome. The homemade coconut, lemon, almond sorbet, was intense in a refined kind of way. Despite the tough veal, I’d go again, and will.
Tailor & the Cook is such a gem! I now and then drive from Hartford, Ct to Syracuse NY for work and whenever i have a chance, I stop at Tailor and the Cook for dinner. This time I had the roasted Veal leg and it was phenomenal. Very flavorful and tender and served with a creamed kale. Perfect portion size and nicely plated. I so wish i could find a place like this in Connecticut. Its almost worth a 3 hour one way drive to eat here...
The service was impeccable, world class. On the other hand, the food was flavorful but inconsistent, especially in temperature. A steak entree was served with cold peas, warm asparagus, lukewarm meat, it tasted great but was strange, as if it came out in stages. Other entrees were similar. For the price, they can do better.
If you have not gone...go! One of the best meals ever. Yes pricey so a very special occassion will be worth it. Staff was amazing. Ambiance perfect. Just go! You won't regret it.
I just can’t say enough good about this place. I’ve been here three times and it’s been amazing every time! The service is fantastic, it’s prompt and curtious with out hovering. The timeing of the courses is near perfect and spacing spot on. This is class a dining with out the stuffy atmosphere.
Very nostalgic place. Great service. Felt a little uncomfortable with some of the names of the food choices, especially the pairings. I was not sure what to order. A little out of my price range. It would need to be an extremely special occasion.
Great food and great service. Many creative Meal options to choose from.
This was the second time we visited T & C...the first time was really great - good food, excellent service - but this time the food was poor and the service, while still good had lost some luster after the awful meal. The breaded pork was cold and tasteless. The waiter took it back to warm it but the damage was already done. My duck was simply a dry mass of shredded poultry. Flavors of black beans and rice were ok. We were disappointed. Maybe the menu will change and we'll return but not for some time.
First time eating here it was an anniversary gift from our daughters and were so happy they did it loved the restaurant the food and the waiters were excellent very friendly told us about what the food was that we were going to eat . We definitely will be back !
This is a first rate, exceptional restaurant. The menu is exceptional and the food lived up to the description. I would recommend The Tailor and the Cook to everyone looking for a fine dining “foodie” experience.
Was the best meal I have had there! OUTDTANDING!!!!!!
The food is pricey but very good. We had a great waitress and really enjoyed all of our food. I had steak and my wife had fish. Both dishes were cooked well and to our specification. Presentation, etc... was beautiful.
We enjoyed our Saturday night dinner and look forward to many more evenings of dining here the service was outstanding and food as well!
Food and wine were great (sea food ravioli / filet mignon w/shrimp and a bottle of cabernet)! Service was unbelievable (our waiter, Trevor, was fantastic and very knowledgeable about the wine)! The other employees/bartender wished us a good night on our way out(I was impressed)! We recommend going here but it was pricey ($150 w/ tip) so be prepared! We'll be back!
We had Doug for our waiter and he provided us with phenomenal service and dining experience. The food was outstanding. We loved hearing the description of where our locally sourced food came from. We were both very impressed with the amount of vegetarian options as most places I’m stuck with salad or pasta. They really are creative with ingredients and the flavor combinations were excellent. Next time we are going to do the tasting menu where they cook for you! The portions are a bit on the small side but for what it’s worth we left full and throughout our night never had an empty plate in front of us.
Nice casual atmosphere. Good food and excellent service
Excellent....We would eat here when ever we are in the area.So good.Very inviting staff and attentive to all aspects of your dining experience...Also was not as small as it looked in pictures and staff seats people in areas that gives them there space as the place fills up.very thoughtful.
I was thrilled with the absolutely gorgeous meal. What a gem. We started with arancini which was on the bar menu, but sever was able to add to our meal. Pommes frites had lovely chutney. Spring potato gnocchi was small, but appropriate serving and was exceptional. The food - divine, the ambiance - eclectic, relaxed, casual, the service - AMAZING. Not only did our server (Tim) make sure we had a wonderful meal, he even gave us tips on where to buy some of the beautiful pottery used for plating(Clinton Pottery). Will 100% return to this great spot!
Excellent staff that worked great as a team, picking up each other’s tables and never walking around empty handed— always kept the water glasses full, so they were attentive but not overbearing.
I especially liked the little bites we were given before our appetizer and after our dessert—awesome way to taste a chef concoction that’s not necessarily on the menu. The food portions were just right. Great beer selection too. Love the local food and creative seasonal meals—I even learned about some new vegetables I never knew existed! I loved how the decor was mostly repurposed ordinary objects—ex. wine bottle chandelier and lights, wine bottles for water jugs, and even old paper menus as a little coaster between the ice cream bowl and the dish—so creative and what incredible attention to detail!
When you arrive you feel like you are in a restaurant in a major metropolitan area in terms of the cuisine offerings and ambience. You don’t feel crowded like in NYC where every table is too close to the next.
I would feel very comfortable recommending this restaurant to anyone who has spent time in a big city area.
The wait staff were very attentive to our needs but were also not annoying.
It was a great experience for myself and my wife. I didn’t watch calories but she did and was very satisfied.
We live in Clinton, NY and have only one other restaurant that has a similar ambience.
Enjoyed the whole meal greatly nice local NY wine parings, loved the lamb meatball appetizer and cheese board to share trout and filet cooked perfectly. Only weak spot was asparagus risotto a bit bland. Under seasoned.
The restaurant does definitely not disappoint me!! Our waiter was fantastic! He was very adaptable to ensure that we had all choices available to us on that time. He offered a few fantastic recommendations for main entrees and wine. Our dinner was heavenly incredible with our compliments going to the chefs. Lastly, kudos to the bartender who awesomely handcrafted our cocktails. We definitely will return!
This was our first time at Taylor and Cook and it lived up to the hype. As we were leaving I was already making reservations for a repeat visit. We had the tasting menu and it was perfect. A great selection, great food and perfect portions.
The food is superb and the service provided to us was outstanding.
enjoyed the daily special of bass, cooked to perfection. waiter was knowledgeable for wine pairing.
Everyone very knowledgeable and polite. Attention to taste profiles and plating was excellent. Great looking space. Wine was a little pricey but excellent.
Without question, one of the very best meals I’ve ever had. The food was expertly done, the vibe was so cool and the service attentive and so friendly. Do not miss this wonderful farm to table experience if you’re in Utica.
The Tailor and Cook never disappoints me. Coming from Calif I admit I can be very picky and selective when it comes to restaurants. Their food , to me, is what you find in San Francisco or LA. Well done!
The food was very good. The waitstaff were excellent. A relaxing, enjoyable evening.
One of the very few places to eat high quality food prepared well. They value quality ingredients found locally so the menu changes regularly. The food was amazing, the service was amazing! A couple of minor issues: the water is served at room temperature and I would have preferred cooler water, and the coffee was lukewarm.
This is a must try if you are a foodie.
Worth an hours drive for dinner. Looking forward to making another reservation soon!
Delicious filet mignon but overcooked for medium. Our reservation was for 5:30 after 45 minutes to an hour we felt rushed. We understand a busy Saturday evening with an influx of patrons....still rushed. Friends did not care for bitter greens while sipping wines. Dessert...chocolate raspberry tart or torte lacked chocolate. We had a great conversation and enjoyed the experience and the vibe.
As always here, we had a delicious dinner chosen from a creative menu. Service was superb and the ambiance was perfect. The wine list offered varied options and dessert was spectacular.
You guys always do an amazing job the waiters are very knowledgeable the food is always on spot always willing to try something new we were there for our 25th anniversary and they gave us a complimentary glass of champagne which was very nice and I remembered it which was awesome it's definitely our go to restaurant
Amazing meal and ambiance! This restaurant never disappoints—the farm to table concept is exceptional and we enjoyed items from the spring menu. We will definitely be back with family and friends! Our compliments to the owners, chefs, and wait staff!
Great food. Spring menu is perfect. Can’t go wrong with the mixologists at the bar!
My wife and I celebrate our anniversary here every year and it only gets better and better. You can’t eat any better food than from farm to table. Service is impeccable and always on point. 10 stars!!
