Amazing service as always. They were very accommodating in showing us customer service for our anniversary.
Unique presentation. Fresh food. Small plates..reminds me of tapas. Staff work together flawlessly.
Definitely would return to this restaurant.
This was an absolutely unforgettable meal! Everything was fresh and amazing. Staff was attentive, explained dishes well, and answered any all questions well. The shareable design of the menu made it fun and allowed us to enjoy so many things that caught our eye on the menu.
From the Greetings at the Door, to the Server(s) that tirelessly strive for ( & deliver ) Perfection. The Presentations are an Art Form and Your Palette will be Delighted!! A True Gem.
Best restaurant in Utica, New York!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We were promptly greeted and seated. Outstanding service. The cocktails were inventive and delicious, the food was extraordinary!
Went here for our anniversary dinner. First time since they’ve switched over to the small plates format. I was unsure what to expect, but the portions were still plenty and the quality, as always, was outstanding. Service was also excellent, as always.
We had a wonderful time! The staff were always willing to do things off menu and really talented chefs made our experience truly wonderful. At our request they paired our wines with each course and did so with amazing thought. We always enjoy our time there and are treated like family.
Amazing experience as always! Tim and his team go above and beyond to create delicious food and a spectacular atmosphere. If you’ve never been then you need to go now...like right now...go
Love the tapas format - allows the diner to experience a variety of flavors, and accommodates a wider range of budgets and culinary preferences. T&C continues to knock it out of the park with innovative cuisine and excellent value. Hard to find quality like this at any price. VERY highly recommended!
Excellent food, service and atmosphere! Many gluten free choices.
An absolutely exquisite locally-sourced restaurant, with the best tasting and presented food in NYS.
Outstanding and extremely interesting food. Best restaurant I’ve ever been to in Utica. Wonderful service. The chef himself stopped at our table and asked how the food was. Nice touch. A not to be missed experience in Utica.
This restaurant is a gem! Innovative dishes you'll never find elsewhere. Knowledgeable, courteous, professional wait staff bar staff etc. As a bonus, Head Chef Tim Hardin visited with us for a few minutes. Don't hesitate to make a reservation!
The service and ambiance was wonderful but the food was highly disappointing and highly overpriced. I did not care for these smaller portions and having to get several dishes to have a complete meal. The steak was chewy and hard to swallow and my shrimp was over cooked.
I’ve gone to Tailor & The Cook several times . The food is always consistent and I’ve never had a bad experience here . On last nights dinner , a new server was on and he forgot our entrees! After he brought the dessert menu over , I said I will get that after I eat ! He apologized and we had a good laugh over it
Fantastic small plates menu. Excellent selection of NYS wines and beyond. Attentive and knowledgeable wait staff.
Dinner was fantastic. We each had small plates of lamb ragout over polenta that we definitely would order again! My husband added a plate of smoked trout (that was to die for) and an order of asparagus risotto (again, delicious). My dinner was supplemented by dumplings and roasted baby carrots (both winners). We shared a pot de creme topped with candied olives. I know, it sounds strange, but it was a grand finish. The olives were dehydrated, minced, then candied, giving the chocolate a smoky, salty taste. Service by Blair was attentive without being interfering. Overall, a grand experience. Thank you T & C for another fine dinner.
It was our first visit! Loved it. Enjoyed sharing our food, plenty to choose from, and the service at both the bar and the table was excellent!
We frequent Tailor and the Cook because they consistently crush it! Food, service, atmosphere…they never miss. Jared greeted us and sat us like we were royalty. Todd took great care of us at the table, and Joseph and Patrick behind the bar were amazing mixologists. This is world class dining right here in Utica. Thanks for another great meal for my daughter’s birthday.
The restaurant changed to a tapas theme. I preferred it the old way . Food was good. Service was very good. Martini was spot on .
Great food and service, as always.
For a 7pm reservation, I arrived at 6:50pm and was immediately seated with a banquette seating and a view of the whole restaurant and the chefs at work. I immediately felt at home, not at all awkward dining solo. The staff, the atmosphere, the milieu all work to make it a homey place.
The bread and amuse-bouche arrived: a delightful spoonful of roasted beets and chevre with a hint of vinaigrette and an early summer green gazpacho.
I began with the seared scallops, small version - scallops cooked to perfection. The course was complemented with a Anthony Road Wine Company Bubbly from the Seneca Lake region - I will look for this one again.
Next course was my starch course: an asparagus risotto (smaller portion) which included some roasted vegetables and as an add-on a Jones Family Farm Chevre fritter. The risotto was cooked properly, both creamy and toothsome. The star of the plate, however, was the fritter, or should I say the chevre in the fritter - best goat cheese I have tasted since my days as a cheese maker in the Loire Valley region (Ste. Maure) in another life. This course was paired with a Red Newt Cellars Riesling, which was a great complement to the risotto and cheese.
For my entrée, I chose the sirloin over the creamy rutabaga puree, cooked to rare perfection. I liked that I was given a reasonable portion of sliced sirloin and not a larger, whole steak. By this time I had moved to a Chateau Lafayette Reneau Cabernet Franc, a wine with character but also subtlety, which did not overpower the beef but seemed to walk hand-in-hand with it.
I followed the beef with the hydroponic lettuces, a delightfully light salad course.
The evening was capped off with the Pots de Creme Chocolat which comes with a most delicious churro. A Prejean Late Harvest Vignoles worked well with the dessert.
So, an evening of culinary delights, in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, served by a more-than-competent staff, leaving me looking forward to my next visit.
It was wonderful.
Food was phenomenal service was just as great highly recommend.
We love The Taylor & The Cook. The food is spectacular and the staff is amazing! Many thanks to our server Meredith who is friendly and great at her job!
Impeccable service and delicious food! Staff is very friendly and you can tell they want you to enjoy your experience. They have an impressive wine list & cocktail menu. Started out with amuse-bouche, which is always a lovely surprise! The house made maple butter was divine! I’m a huge fan of small plates and they did not disappoint! I had the chick pea gnocchi, asparagus risotto & the scallops. I love that they use local, seasonal ingredients!
As always, good food and good service. Modern feel.
The entire team at Tailor and the Cook goes out of their way to provide an amazing dining experience every time we visit. Our go-to location for anniversaries or birthdays.
Great service. Great food. Seated quickly and had several folks clear dishes as we finished and others brought our order. Perfectly presented and prepared.
Fantastic food and amazing service. Will definitely go back the next time we are in town.
Wonderful as always. Love the new small plate (Tapas) menu. So good to be back!
Love the small plate venue. Food delicious. Waitstaff friendly and very knowledgeable. Price very reasonable. Definitely a mainstay for us.
Great double date, awesome dinner options and an ever changing menu. Worth the hour and a half drive in from Albany. Best farm to table we have ever been to.
Fantastic menu and atmosphere. Servers care a lot. And each dish was beautifully executed. Highly recommend this gem.
Unique food from local farms. Service was friendly and helpful. Passing through the Utica area, but will certainly stop again when going that way.
Just simply awesome with no other area establishment close to this level of dining experience from the food to the service. I eat here often and for good reason I expect excellence and it is always delivered.
We had the best experience dining at The Tailor and the Cook. Each member of the staff was wonderful, the ambiance was very nice, and the food was amazing. It was awesome
