Beautiful place, very attentive service and outstanding food! A must go to while in the area!
Food was better than expected, atmosphere was charming and friendly, love the locally sourced menu.
Wonderful dinner with my daughter and her boyfriend
Everything was excellent as usual, love this restaurant!!
Excellent unusual food choices. The small plate experience was our first; and did allow us to try more choices.
I love this restaurant! It's fantastic!!! The servers were more helpful than many that I've had lately. They knew everything about the menu and were willing to answer any questions. They were a restaurant that I'd go to often, esp after the pandemic
Great variety of unique dishes . Enjoyed the setting
The whole experience was amazing and the food is the best.
As always, a wonderful experience - amazing food and perfect service.
Jared as usual was a fabulous host. Wait staff led by Tim exceptional. New local Madison Gin was SO smooth….
Wonderful evening w small plates of fabulous food. Thank
Loved the service (Blair was amazing), the food, and the ambiance. The scallops were seared perfectly, the figs were sweet and every dish had a combination of amazing flavors and presentation. Love it!
As always the food was amazing and the service was impeccable! We look forward to getting the NYS cheese board to start, and we love to share a variety of the small plates which change for the seasons. This time we tried the shrimp fried rice, the steelhead trout, the pork schnitzel and the scallops - all were outstanding. Highly recommend for an amazing dining experience!
Both food and service were outstanding! This is a gem any where and unexpected in Utica. Appreciate the outdoor dining options.
We drove from Syracuse to try the restaurant and had a great experience. Cocktails were good and the wine selection from the finger lakes was varied and plentiful. Loved our food, scallops were well seared, tomatoes were so fresh and juicy, pork schnitzel was crunchy and salty in all the best ways! We will be back! :)
This was our first time and everything was incredible! The food is so fresh and the portion size was perfect! Can’t wait to go back!
I had such a great dining experience at Tailor & The Cook . My server Blane is the absolute best , the scallops are the best you’ll find , and the steak head trout has so much flavor . This restaurant is my all time favorite . Tim runs a top notch establishment, Jared the host is very attentive and accommodating
Jarod, Meredith, Tim, and Joseph always make us feel like we are royalty. The food is beyond awesome. This place is a home run every time. Best in Utica, by leaps and bounds.
We had reservations for the evening of my wife's birthday (noted on the reservation). No mention was made of the special date. Not a huge issue, just an observation for those who may want the special date marked. Be sure to verbally say something and don't leave it to the reservation.
The service was absolutely incredible. Our server, Jessica had complete knowledge of all the items and provided excellent suggestions. The other team members were responsive and careful to keep our party of two well served.
We chose four small plates, the scallops, shrimp fried rice, beets, and bean salad. The scallops were so delicious and perfectly prepared we ordered a second portion! Trust your server and get the large portion (we ordered two small portions). The shrimp friend rice, albeit creative (as you would expect from this lovely restaurant) was our least favorite. In part, it was very dark black on one side, and the shrimp patty (it was not individual shrimp) was a bit rubbery and salty. We preferred the delicious freekah salad with the scallops over the rice in the shrimp fried rice dish. We love beets so there is no contest there! The bean salad was nice, too. The Utica Bread is wonderful, but we prefer plain butter to the sweetened honey butter. That's simply a personal preference and not a criticism.
We shared the blueberry buckle for dessert. The highlight of that dessert is the fabulous syrup.
My wife had the NYS wine flight and enjoyed each selection.
We sat indoors (no outside tables available, but we'd have chosen indoor seating anyway) and found it to be pretty loud.
All in all, a nice evening.
We were greeted by a busy but friendly waiter on the outside patio, before we got to the front door. He ushered us in, helped find a table and introduced us to our waiter.
We watched the barman energetically prep a really cold martini, which he replicated on request down to the blue cheese olives. Yum! Our waiter guided us through menu choices. We had 3 dishes, all done to a high level of skill and delight on our palates. Dessert of the day, a Blueberry Buckle, paired beautifully with ice cream and an espresso.
Unique & delicious! Very romantic. Great service!!
It was such a great culinary experience!! Presentation presentation presentation!! Highly recommend! Make sure to make reservations!
The T&C excels on every level!!! In my opinion, there is not an establishment that comes close to hitting the mark on food, service & overall value. This Utica gem is hands down world class. Keep up the great work T&C!!! You head and shoulders above the rest!
As always, the food was excellent and the service good. It was noisier than I remember from other times, though.
The Tailor & The Cook always delights us. They have mastery over every detail of the dining experience. The cuisine is wonderful, creative, and surprising, and the fact that they use locally/regionally produced foods in their cooking raises it to an even higher level of excellence. The ambiance is simultaneously classy and cozy. Very welcoming and very tasteful. That goes for how the staff present themselves, too. The customer service at The Tailor & The Cook is simply the best we have ever received anywhere. Flawless. We have been going to the Tailor & The Cook for years and we have never had anything less than a truly wonderful experience. Can’t wait to go there again!
The food and service was outstanding! The noise level was high and the lighting too dim to read menus and see the beautiful food presentations.
Excellent staff, decor, drinks and food..Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great night out!
Cordial staff made a dining experience that could have easily felt pretentious a truly lovely experience. I was skeptical that I’d be satisfied at the end of the meal (what I mean is full), as the menu was focused towards small plates. I was pleasantly surprised at just how filling and well executed each dish was. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to others. I have no complaints and only a fond memory.
Excellent. Wish we lived closer. Would be there often. The food was wonderful and great service from everyine.
We enjoyed all of the food that we ordered with the exception of the sirloin which was tough. We do not particularly like the small plates concept.
Perfect meal in every way!
The overall creativity of the dishes and freshness abound, however, the servings are more like tapas than 'small plates.' And, with the regular serving price tag, you're looking at 50-60$ per person minimum. Nonetheless, what I had was very good. Couple of notes. The beet risotto was creamy but I felt it needed seasoning. The scallops over freekah was my favorite dish of the evening. The cheese was salty and complemented the entire dish into a perfect bite. I also enjoyed the wine menu which featured some highlights from the Finger Lakes.
The food and service was amazing as always! love eating at Tailor and the Cook when I am home in Utica!
We love the dining experience at Tailor & the Cook. This visit we were sat next to the wait station and found that to be busy and distracting. Otherwise everything was fantastic.
The Pork tapas was over cooked. The duck, fried rice, beet greens Utica, smoked trout were excellent
Very good food, new items I haven’t tried before likes pickled celery. Portion sizes were medium to small.
It was so so good!! Looking forward to another visit. The staff was awesome, especially our server (because I had a lot of questions 😂).
I liked the old menu more than the new menu - more variety needed...
Great service & food as always!
