The Sycamore Inn Prime Steak House Ratings and Reviews
We had Valentines dinner at this place. Our waitress was friendly and nice. We ordered New York strip, Filet mignon , veggie soup and Ice cream on pastries for dessert. Two out of three steak orders were under cooked. The qualities of meat were just ok. We asked steak sauce but waited for long time to get them. The seatings are old style with little privacy. The desert pastry was cold and little old, not fresh and fluffy. We love the soup, it was very balanced with perfect veggie blend. Our bill was around $250 (including tips). Not impressed .
Everything was wonderful, except for the ambiance. The tables are too close together, and one of the servers (not ours) kept hitting the back of my chair, even after I had mentioned it to him. Please don't overcrowd the dining area with tables, as this makes for a very uncomfortable experience.
I really thought I would be giving a stellar review but unfortunately that is not the case. The food was the only thing that was amazing. The restaurant setting is pretty cool because of its historical status. I chose Sycamore for my fiancés birthday expecting a great experience. The service was horrible. We literally were ghosted by our waiter in training and the seasoned waiter who has been there for years. They took our order and checked on us once shortly after we began eating. We saw them walking around at first and then absolutely nothing from either. I had to flag the seasoned waiter for our check once we finally saw him. At one point earlier on, the two waiters were standing in ear shot and I heard the new waiter asking the other how he thought he did. Not something I want to hear at a restaurant that holds themselves at a higher standard especially when they had not checked on us. Very dissatisfied and we will not be back. I’d rather spend my money at a classier steak house that services their customers.
I took my Wife out for a surprise dinner and it was everything and more. We had service and felt well taken care of. The food was absolutely delicious. We both love historic places and just being there truly made it an awesome experience. We will definitely be back again.
I was a little disappointed this trip. We purposely eat early to avoid crowds, but even at 5:30 they seemed full and we 4 were relegated to a tiny table between 3 large groups.
For fine dining, it was much too loud and they have apparently gone lax on the dress code.
Although the rib eyes had good flavor, they were the thinnest cut I've seen - and they got my brother's and my orders backwards. That said, my wife's steak was very good and I heard no complaints about the lamb shank.
I had several steakhouses to choose from, but chose this one because of past experiences. Next time we'll give the others another try.
This was my and my husband's first time there. We sat at the bar before our reservation time and enjoyed the BEST Blueberry Lemon Martini I've ever had .😊
Dinner was amazingly delicious!! I had the Filet Mignon and my husband had the Chilean Seabass. The food was cooked perfect. Everyone was really nice and attentive.
I will definitely be back!
We went for New Year Eve and the preset menu was a disappointment. You could not pick your sides and the amount of food for the price was not pleasing. I did go expecting to pay al la cart for food items. I knew this place would be pricey. The service was slow but understandable due to the amount of people. I would definitely go back and order off regular menu.
The food was good but not great . I had the filet mignon, the potatoes were the best thing on the plate, my asparagus was bitter and I didn’t care for the tomato type sauce. My fiancé had the oscar fillet and said he couldn’t taste the I believe it was crab on top. The deserts were wonderful but small. The ambiance was okay. Overall I wasn’t impressed and there was no wow about anything for the price.
My husband and I frequent The Sycamore Inn several times during the year, as we enjoy their Prime Rib and Chilean Sea Bass. We dined at the restaurant on New Years Eve and we were disappointed to find they were offering only a fixed menu. Five different types of steaks to choose from, but no Sea Bass. I ordered the Salmon only to find it under cooked. The waitress quickly returned with another piece of salmon which appeared to be an end piece, it was just okay, a little on the dry side. In addition, we were seated in the area where the fireplace is located, but in a booth right next to the women's restroom. It was just awful to have to sit there and smell the "fragrance" from the restroom. They should not have booths so close to the restroom. Needless to say, things did not go well that evening. Thank you for allowing me to write this review.
This dinner was to celebrate the New Year. It is usual above average. This year was a big disappointment. Side dishes I could have made at home, same with the salad bread and better. There was nothing special about this dinner and the sides were alread picked for you. Nothing to speak of.
Ordering their most expensive $65 lobster and filet minogne , you received a third size piece of a normal size lobster, an over cooked dry lobster, and two mini pieces of filet about the size of a silver dollar coin that a third of it was fat. The mashed potato tasted look it came out of a box and the esparagus was the size of green beans. Totally over priced food and their wine list. Farniente for 275, when in a liquor store it is 120. So more than double, i understand cooking serving and a profit, but over 200 percent???. The waitresses are like they were new at the job. We made a reservation and the only table in the main hall was next to the woman's restroom. That is reservations for you. It used to be much better, but now i will not return and i will not recommend to anyone. And if they are monitoring their reviews, they should pay me back my money, because they ruined or Christmas eve. No wonder most of my neighbors drive far to get good food and good service, so much for getting to keep the business local.
We went for a Christmas brunch. The food and the service were excellent the ambience was excellent overall though I thought it was a little pricey.
Consider it trivial but to me if I'm paying $8 for a 12 oz bottle of beer you don't bring the beer and set it on the table with the glass
. .. you pour it for me
. my wife was surprised that I didn't correct them as I usually do at lesser places but I agree with her next time we'll ask them to pour my beer for me. Again that's one of the reasons it was overpriced. Food was good but pricey. Overall we enjoyed ourself it was something different and just a nice place for the holiday
