Was looking for a great, classic, upscale steak house and this fit the bill. The ambiance was perfect with its wood paneling, red leather seating, and dim mood lighting. The menu is superb with a well-appointed wine list and classic steakhouse specialties including filet mignon, prime rib, lobster, and lamb. The usual suspects were available for starters and accompaniments (shrimp cocktail, jumbo artichoke, steakhouse salad, creamed spinach, roasted asparagus, a few different variations of mashed potatoes, etc) and desserts were classic as well and included caramel bread pudding and chocolate souffle. I've already used the word "classic" more than once in this review, but that is exactly what this place is - a classic, upscale dining experience for when you want to get dressed up and have superb food served by a well-trained and professional wait staff as you're sitting in an elegant dining room. Prices are what can be expected in a fine dining establishment...don't bother making a reservation if you're pinching pennies. It's a wonderful indulgence. *NOTE: They host private events on weekend afternoons when the restaurant is closed to the general public and we were very disappointed to find the restrooms in really poor shape due to them not being cleaned between an event and the regular dining room hours. But I believe this to have been a one-time oversight and not the norm, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and hoping I never see that again.

My husband is wheelchair and when we asked where we could enter Busboy(?) said “you’ll have to go around to the back...” in a way that upset my sons and they carried all 6’3” 220 lbs. up the stairs. Service inside was wonderful.

Not what it used to be. I hadn't been to the Sycamore Inn for several years, when our party of 4 decided to have a birthday dinner here. The restaurant is in need of a makeover. While the decor may have a throwback quality, it seems boring and outdated. The one plus was the service. It was excellent and very timely. However, the food and drink prices have become bloated. We all had prime rib. While it was fine, it was nothing special. The caesar salad was nothing special. The broiled asparagus with a red pepper aioli topping was a good idea that didn't work. The one thing that did work was the smoked bacon-blue cheese mashed potatoes. It was very good. While the restaurant has an extensive wine list, the drink prices were outrageous. I realize that the bar is a profit center, but this was usury! $24 for an Oban on the rocks is a complete ripoff (especially with a stingy pour). The next time I decide to spend nearly $500 on dinner, there are several much better places I can visit.

Sycamore Inn was all we hoped it would be after passing it for the past 20 years. It's charming and cozy, yet elegant. We were dressed up like some yet others were comfortable in jeans. We had a table for two yet felt like we were in a cozy booth since we were literally wrapped in huge comfy chairs. The service was excellent, from water refills to never needing to wait for one of the several gracious servers to come by with next course or check to see if we needed anything. Salads were light and tasty, the steak was tender and cooked to perfection. I like well done and it was just that, no pink inside and not over cooked on outside...Potatoes and veggies also very tasty and we splurged and had two desserts. My Death By Chocolate was worth nearly gaining a pound for. We look forward to returning for another wonderful date night.

Went to celebrate our anniversary. Definitely something different to try out if you usually go to Flemings in Rancho Cucamonga. Good wine selection. I had the NY Peppercorn Steak which was cooked nicely with a very good sauce. My wife had the petite filet, also cooked to desired doneness. They brought us a complementary bread pudding dessert for our anniversary which I thought was a nice touch as well. Would definitely go back!

I like the place and history of it. Prices are crazy and what you get for the price is redicules. Everything is ali-cart. Which is okay but even the Ali-cart items were too high. Better have lots of money when visiting this place.

Amazing Food, but for the price I shouldn't see worn down furniture (cracked faux leather with stuffing visible on chair) also stuffing sticking out of old padded menu.

On this visit, I brought some VIP business guests. They were impressed, and unaware that such a rare, quality dining experience exists in SoCal. This Old School gem, that offers more than great food. The Sycamore Inn offers the lost art of a dinning experience. Our experience here, once again was perfect, from comfy high back chairs, that allow you to enjoy the company of your guests, to server teams that quietly watch to make sure that everything about your experience at the Sycamore Inn is perfect. Our waiter, Bobby is the best of the best. The food is great too.

Our food was unbelievably delicious. We all ordered some type of steak or prime rib dish and all were prepared exactly as requested. The service was also excellent. Our waiter anticipated our every need and took care of it. Overall, it was an amazing experience. We'll be back for sure.

While this restaurant maybe on the historic Route 66 it tries too hard to be relevant. The food while delicious is somewhat overpriced. For the two of us the check was over $188, this included two orders of their onion soup, my husband had a Porterhouse & I had the large bone in cut of prime rib. I had a cocktail, just one a Apple Oldfashion, it was too thick with the muddled apple so you had to eat your cocktail rather than drink it. I switched to iced tea, which is what my husband was drinking. We shared two sides with our meat, smoked blue cheese & bacon mashed potatoes (absolutely delicious) and creamed corn (it was just ok, they add a cheese on top that doesn't add to the dish and makes it difficult to spoon out the vegetables).
The cost of the meal is never an issue with us as long as it is worth the price, this meal wasn't, nor was it worth the drive from Riverside.
Skip this restaurant and go across the street to The Magic Lamp, the better of these two restaurants.

When I described our choices for dinner locations to our guests I said this one had the best atmosphere and history. They were not disappointed.
We were all very happy with our steaks, and the mashed potatoes were a big hit. In fact, there were no leftovers. Not because of the portions, but despite them. The food was that good.
The service was all we could ask for, and our waiter was very knowledgeable on the wines.

We are regulars at the Sycamore. Bobby normally waits on us and does a great job. This time Brie waited on us. Food took over 40 minutes. Manager never left podium. We will always ask for Bobby on future visits. Brie was nice and friendly but unaware that our meals took over 40 minutes.

I have to be brutally honest for the price, quality of food, service and ambiance of this fine dining restaurant. I would give 4 stars for ambiance. My wife's favorite is the chair. The service is 4 stars too I took off 1 star because the maître d' asked what cocktail do we want? My son asked "What do you have?. He answered depend on what do you want. My son asked " What do you recommend? He answered " We have full bar so what do you want?. Don't you thinks that was a dumb answer? Cannot even give us we have house special something etc.. So we did not order any cocktail. We have full bar at our own house so we were expecting something special from them. Now lets talk about starters, we order Oyster Rockefeller and Crisp Calamari and we gave 4 stars for the taste and 3 stars for the price. $19 for 4 small pieces of Oyster? We all order French onion soup $12/bowl and sadly we gave 1 stars. The taste was just not right at all way too sweet and the cheese was not properly baked. My wife is not a steak person so she ordered Herb roasted jidori chicken and she even doesn't want to give any star because for a piece of chicken that very salty, dry and burnt and cost us $29 for it? My son and I both order rib eye medium and medium rare and we gave 5 stars. The aged beef taste that you can die for. Our side dish was garlic mashed potato and was good but nothing special so we gave 3 stars. Our dessert was chocolate soufflé and that deserved 5 stars. So overall we can only give 2 stars. Are we going back again? Yes, only with real steak lovers. Not worth $ to order other entrees at all
