A nice quiet place to dine for a special evening out. Convenient, especially if you’re staying at the hotel, but also because it’s open daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner. The sour dough bread was delicious. The smaller shrimp and grits was very filling and tasty. We added a smaller salad and that was a perfect amount for a light dinner. The service was excellent.

The restaurant is in a hotel. So, they should have a captured audience. Everything was oversalted. Fried chicken was cooked beautifully but potatoes were not creamy and greens were too salty to eat. Shrimp and grits had good flavor but grits were lumpy and not cooked properly. I was disappointed.

I can’t say enough about the Swamp Fox. The food was amazing. The service was great and the dining room was quaint and inviting. There was live piano music that was just the right background noise. Truly, my husband and I both agree, this was the best meal we have had dining out in a long time and we dine out often. If you are in Charleston, put this restaurant at the top of your list.

We had a large group and although we were at 2 separate tables, the waiter kept it together. I know they were super busy with not alot of staff but everyone was friendly and attentive. My table made some requests that were not overly convenient but the waiter smiled and accomodated the request. We really appreciated that. Shrimp and grits were probably the best I have had.

We had lunch here and it was lovely. The staff go above and beyond to make your experience special. The burger with fried onions and watercress was cooked to perfection and served alongside a gooey macaroni and cheese. Please stop in to say hi as the staff take a lot of pride in this quaint spot.

THe hostess was extremely pleasant, so kind and welcoming! The waiter was kind and quick to help and get our drinks. The atmosphere was pleasant and not noisy. Bread was brought out quickly. The food was very good, my only disappointment was that my scallops in my dinner entree were salty and over seasoned. Otherwise everything was great.

We were in town for a long weekend trip. It’s our last dinner of the trip. We’ve thus far had a great food experience…until here. We were seated quickly and politely by the host. We didn’t see our server (Hudson) for several minutes. He came to take our drink orders forgot two of three had to come back and ask again. Then gave one of us a tonic water, when we asked for a seltzer with a lime. I ordered petite shrimp and grits with hush puppies, another a crab soup with a chicken Caesar salad, and the other an okra soup with the beef tenderloin. After almost an hour I was given my shrimp and grits. No one else was served anything. I ate that as we were very aware by this point it was going to be a crapshoot of what and when anything else was coming out next. 20 or so minutes later. I was given my hush puppies. No one else at our table had any food to include their soups. Finally their soups and main course came out at the same time (???). A chicken Caesar salad is hard to screw up. The soups were good. The beef tenderloin was ok, but very heavy on the black pepper. Hush puppies were fine, but had obviously sat in the window as their heat had completely wilted the greens they were served on. At that point I had eaten my shrimp and grits , so wasn’t hungry anymore anyway. This did not seem to be an issue of the kitchen. There was one very obvious weak link. It was obvious throughout the dining room as we watch tables served the wrong dishes, back and forth from the kitchen with checks and dishes that were going to destinations unknown, and a lot of people just waiting. Hudson seemed like a nice enough guy, but was just absolutely clueless. Though there were only two people serving, maybe he was overwhelmed. Overall, it was just entirely chaotic and less than mediocre.

The scallops were large and delicious; the bed of veggies was too salty for us. The salad was generous; the greens were not quite at their peak, a bit wilted. The Key Lime Pie was great; the pecan pie was lacking. The She Crab soup was a treat. We went early - 5:45 - and were glad we did for a busy Friday eve., before things began to get quite busy. Enjoyed the piano music very much.

It was our six year anniversary. We went on our first date here six years ago. Eric our server was amazing. The hostess Alexandria was very supportive of the entire restaurant. Our food was delicious. We will be back for sure!

Sadly we ate early to end our day in Charleston and had to share the dining room with a women’ a tour group and the restaurant was understaffed to support full capacity. Our waitress did a really good job trying to be attentive but you could tell that she was running hard and ragged, as was the hostess who stepped in to help Fortunately, the food was delicious and our present company enjoyed our little anniversary dinner

Friendly staff. Corner window table. Only misstep …the appetizer was missing one component- pork belly! We realized it after we got back to our hotel. Fried chicken and scallops were good. Overall nice dinner.

The food and service were outstanding The shrimp and grits were wonderful as well as the southern fried chicken. We were sitting at a window overlooking the park across the street. It was wonderful that they had valet parking also.

She crab soup and shrimp/grits were very good. Soup spoon was dirty and had to be returned, it took forever to catch the waiter. Waiter failed to come back and ask if everything was ok after the soup and entree. Overall, I still liked it.

Food was adequate but over salted, ambience was loud and distracting. Service was okay, but had problems with lighting though we were able to get moved seating. The food was okay, but overpriced for serving size and my partner’s food was misplaced and had to be replaced
