The Summit Grill - Lee's Summit Ratings and Reviews
For me and wife just an okay experience, the crispy smashed potatoes we terrible. Tasted like deep fried potatoes in old grease, Nothing smashed about them, a cut up chunks chunks of potato deep fried with salt. We both were disappointed, the salad was okay, the steak was good, but it's description of ..laying on crispy smashed potatoes..? Not. We have heard the place is teriffic, we will return someday, but not rushing to return. I'm sure we caught a bad choice, and an off moment, we did not complain but give 3 stars
Summit Grill is one of my favorite places to go for a great dining experience. I live 40 minutes away and it's always worth the drive. The ambiance is perfect. Black cozy booths, perfect lighting. The food is delicious and service is spectacular. Food and beverages are not over priced. You get a lot of food for your money.
Booked a table of 9 for my birthday. We sat in the middle of restaurant it was really loud we couldn’t hear each other . We went during restaurant week the baked potato soup was good. I ordered my steak well done and so did my son it came out red and bloody she took ours back to cook. So the birthday girl got to wait 15-20 min to eat with her son after everybody else ate their food. The deserts came out quickly our waitress was nice and pleasant , but not really apologetic about steaks. Overall wasn’t impressed with main course or loud atmosphere sitting in middle of packed room.
Went for restaurant week 2018. Pretty disappointed. Server seemed to be new, but we understand that. The food was sub par. I ordered the KC strip and my husband ordered the shrimp bowl. The steak was cooked to order but half was gristle and fat. The shrimp was undercooked (yes, undercooked and still grayish). Dessert was pretty good though!
Food was great but sadly the service was not....unfortunately that’s been the situation the last few times we’ve come in so can’t blame Restaurant Week on that. Dining room was busy but not full. Waiter was very inattentive and even the manager or assistant not sure which didn’t seem over concerned when we asked about the long delay. Even had to ask for our check. Seems to have gone down hill service wise in the last year or so sadly as it’s a great restaurant and gathering place.
Mark W. was our best server! He was funny and attentive. The KCRW menu did not allow any modifications and he was upfront about that. It's a shame they ran out of the steak so early in the week. Also they were out of the chocolate shell cups for the creme brulee. But the salad was amazing, the grilled shrimp risotto was beautiful! It was also tasty and rich. If deciding what to have for dessert, the creme brulee is fabulous but the candy bar concoction is divine. Absolutely divine.
We are definitely coming back here after KCRW and getting a full size of that candy bar-bar.
Fun drink choices, variety of menu choices, nice setting. Sat too close to the door - not good when so cold. Wait staff is timely and courteous. Great for dinner or brunch. Fried chicken sandwich and grilled shrimp risotto both delicious. Fantastic desserts too!
I dine here frequently and would normally rate it 5 out of 5 because I normally have had a great experience. So I'm not sure if it was because our server was just bad or what but we had a reservation for 12 for my birthday and didn't get out of there until almost 2:45, and we didn't order apps or anything crazy. 3 of us had bar drinks that took us over 25 mins to get and then another 20 mins to order and then almost a hr for our food to arrive when other tables were served first. He also offered me a free dessert for my birthday but then didn't mention it again and since it took so long for him to come back to our tables and an hr brunch took almost 3 hrs, I didn't want to wait for it so I didn't get it.
I'm really hoping it was just one bad day, unfortunately it was on my birthday, but I would still go back provided the next time is better.
Normally my wife and I are big fans of Summit Grill but this experience was totally disappointing. Our waiter took forever to even acknowledge us and this was only after we stopped the floor manager. It was one hour and fifteen minutes from the time we were seated until our meals arrived at the table. Fortunately the floor manager had sent over two appetizers for our wait but following that he never returned to check on our situation. The other tables around us were seated after us and were served, ate and left before our meal ever came. The staff at Summit Grill is normally top notch so this experience was neither expected nor acceptable.
Our waiter was slow. Asked him if he was new and he said no he been there a long time. Sat for 35 minutes after we ordered for our food to arrive. Waiter never came back and asked if we wanted to refill on our water or sodas. Then to top it off he tried to charge me $23.95 for a side order of mac and cheese that the menu said was $6.95. When I brought it to his attention he argued about it and had to threaten to see the manager before he reduced our bill.
Ate here for KCRW for lunch. We were disappointed that they were out of shrimp and we were unable to order the preferred dish for lunch. I was surprised that they were out of a major ingredient on the 2nd day of restaurant week. I had the sirloin steak which was okay, just not what I had planned on ordering when I made a lunch reservation one week in advance. The service was good even with the busy day.
Wanted to order off the restaurant week menu, waiter seemed irritated and felt rushed through the entire dinner. Brought the bill before dessert so I didn’t order any after dinner drinks which I wanted . Good food all around , waiter was good beside rushing us on a $300 table of 6.
While the overall dining experience was OK, when I made the reservation I had told them that it was for a birthday hoping that they would bring over a little cake with a candle in it. I have also told the waitress when I said down that it was a birthday. Finally when we are ready to leave the waitress brought over the dessert tray I picked out the desert and asked if she could put a candle in it. She said she would see what she can do. She came back with a little stub of a candle that it been used previously. For the prices charged I would assume they would have a little cupcake or something they could offer for such occasions.
I have been a handful of times with the same experience each time- Food that was straight forward and solid. Well balanced, appropriate portions for the price, quality ingredients. Everything tasted good at that the table. Service- friendly, polite and well-timed. While no one thing would necesarly rate as excellent- the overall experience, combination of food, service and execution- that equals a 5 star experience for me.
We drove 60 miles to The Summit for New Year’s Eve. It was noisy but they were very, very busy. We were seated in the bar area which was much quieter. It was wonderful. The food outstanding. The service great and the outdoor fireplaces shingling thru the large windows was awesome. Definitely will go back regardless of drive.
Had a reservation. Thought I would be in the restaurant not in a back room with a table that had been set up. The table did NOT accommodate 8 people comfortably. Disappointed by this. Waiter did a great job. Food was good but took longer than usual to get. It was New Year’s Eve but we had a very early reservation. I will still come to summit grill I would like to be notified in the future if I’m going to be seated in the Party Room. I may choose a different option.
Good brunch visit. I would note that many brunch items come with hash browns, even though that do not say so. Generally, that’s a good thing, but when you’re on a low carb diet and order an omelette, the generous side of hash browns does not make up for a comparatively small omelette portion.
Six months ago we had eaten at the Summit Grill in Waldo, for our Twenty-seventh Anniversary we decided to do a comparison with the sister location in Lee’s Summit. With the exception of parking the Lee’s Summit location was on point in every category. We were pleased to find the same great food that we had experienced at the Waldo location. Summit Grill in LS was quiet which is not the case in Waldo. The ambience was very nice, relaxing and lent itself to conversation. We had a great time!
