The Summit Grill - Lee's Summit Ratings and Reviews
This has been a longtime favorite of mine so we made a reservation for my birthday. We were put in what I was told is usually the group event room and were the only ones in there initially. We had our kids but had made an early reservation and the kids were well behaved. It felt like we were being hidden away (although it did fill up later) in a cold room with folding tables (I checked- literally a plastic folding table with a table cloth over it). Nothing against folding tables but not what I expect from a nicer place. The fish tacos are usually my favorite, but they were off. Kids had lemonade and it was super tart- not good. Kids meals come with ice cream and we had to remind waitress about it and she said “oh they want that?” I get it isn’t a place geared to families but there are lots of people who come with kids and it’s in the suburbs. I am hoping it was just an off night for food and service!
Our reservation was for 7:15. We got there at 7:10 and checked in with the host. She told us that they were running about 10-15 minutes behind. We grabbed a drink in the bar thinking that we would only have a short wait. At 8:00 we were finally seated - while we were waiting several people got tired of waiting for their turn and left or we would have gotten seated even later. (We would have eaten in the bar but the music was so loud we couldn't have a conversation). I was surprised that a manager never talked to us about our reservation delay, maybe 45 minutes later is normal here.
Regardless, I am so glad we waited for the dining room. Our waitress, Kelley was absolutely amazing! She was extremely conscience and went the extra mile to make sure our food, service and overall experience was perfect. Everything she recommended was amazing! If it hadn't been for her, our experience would have been 2 stars at the most and we definitely would not have been back. However, because of Kelley we will return. (But will make sure to allow extra time because of the reservation issue). If you go, make sure to get the lobster stuffed salmon; it was incredible and be sure to ask for Kelley!!
My wife and I had visited Summit Grill many times in the past and the food is always exceptional although a bit overpriced. We were extremely disappointed on this occasion as it was valentines day and we were expecting a nice, quiet, romantic table with the usual exceptional food and service; however this was not the case. It appeared as if they tried to "maximize" their profit capabilities due to it being Valentines day, and set us in the middle of the restaurant in a group of what appeared to be table cloth covered card tables next to a banquet sized table with a large party that had obviously been overserved with alcohol. We practically had to scream at each other to have any type of conversation in addition to being able to reach over and sample our neighboring diners meals if we had so desired. I won't say that I will never return; however we will definitely NEVER return expecting to be able to have a "romantic" encounter. I strongly believe their greed for profit overshadowed any type of concern for their diners experience. Next Valentines day I will definitely choose to have my $120 dinner for 2 at a more client focused establishment.
We eat at Summit Grill alot. This was by far the most unpleasant experience we have had there.
With it being Valentines Day we did expect it to be a bit different, however we did have reservations, waited about 40 min for our table, it was in the bar area, which had been converted to dining for the night. Our food took forever to come out, the waitress was frazzled,
we typically look forward to the prime rib, it arrived cold and without the aujus or horseradish.
We do love Summit Grill, but will not return on a holiday.
Four of us went on Valentine's Day, normally we don't go out on that evening as it is always crowded everywhere, but with the reservation through Open Table, we got right in and got an excellent table in the corner. Service is good and the food is great. Calamari appetizer was enough for all of us to share a little bit. We all ordered the Surf and Turf, a Valentine special, and it was very good. My wife said later that it was the best she had ever had anywhere.
Went on Valentine’s Day, server forgot our bar drinks and we had to ask for them. Food was so so I have had better meals here.. could be turning more in to a lunch spot rather than a nice dinner place.. I hate to say it cause I feel a year ago food was way better.
Had a 5:30pm reservation and was seated promptly at 5:30. The waiter was by very quickly to take our drink order. He was very attentive without being overbearing. My wife had the salmon salad with chipotle dressing. She said it was great. I had the blackened Mahi-mahi tacos. Very tasty. Even though it was Valentine’s Day and they were completely booked, there was no rush to get done. We have eaten here several times and have always enjoyed it That is why we decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day there.
The food is so impeccable; because of this, it was easy to overlook the crabby and unprofessional hostess. The wait staff, although friendly and very fast, were a bit unprofessional as well. Every bite of our food was so so so good; I can’t help but wonder just how much more Summit Grill could offer if they cared as much about their service as their food.
We went for an early Valentine's Day dinner. The food was excellent. Love the ambiance of this restaurant. The bar area is a little noisy but dining area is quiet mMy husband raved about his steak. I had the salmon and it was delicious. The service was great. We always enjoy our dining experience. Highly recommend.
food was great! they sat us on time for our reservation. constructive criticism: server could benefit from learning about wine service. We brought our wine and asked him to chill the white. he served it to us warm and then chilled the tiny bit left after pouring 4 glasses. Then, we asked to open our red wine so it could breathe and he opened it and poured it into our glasses immediately.
Food & Service was excellent but was disappointed that two of our favorites weren't on the menu because of the special Valentine's Day menu. I would think you would keep something as basic as the cheeseburger and chicken club sandwich on the menu at all times.
Very poor service from our waiter we had to ask to receive dinner rolls. Our drink order never came. We asked another waiter who brougt it to us after our dinner was served. It was an overall unpleasant dining experience. The table we were sitted at was not in a good location even though there were other tables or booths available.
Unhappy with our waiter, Connor B. He acted tired and like he didn't want to be there. We mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday and we had a conversation about it with him. But, he never mentioned it again and did not bring us the free dessert that we were supposed to get. Also, we ordered a side dish and asked that it be brought out early as our appetizer. He did not bring it. After our meals were served, we had to ask for the side dish. We ended up getting it, but really didn't want it by that time. We gave him a 15% tip which is low for us, but even then, we regretted giving him that much. It's sad to get home after eating out and wishing we had made more of a point of our unhappiness by shorting the waiter more off his tip.
We made reservations for our 31st wedding anniversary. Our reservations were for 7:00 pm. We arrived at 6:50. We were told at the hostess station that they were running behind and it would be 15-20 minutes before we would be seated. I couldn't believe it. We made reservations for this very reason. But we decided to wait since we were already there. Time passed and by 7:45, 55 minutes past the time we arrived, we left. I have never been so disappointed. Not only was our dinner ruined, but both of us were beyond mad. While we waited we observed several tables completely empty but set for someone to be seated. When we asked about them we were told by the hostess that they were already reserved. Well, where was our reserved table? So you hold tables for people who aren't even there but you have someone who made reservations, who is standing by your hostess station, and you don't seat them? And seriously, does it take 3 young girls, who obviously didn't know what they were doing, to "manage" (and I use that term loosely) the hostess station? Three people? I don't get it.
Thanks for ruining our anniversary dinner.
We dined 1/27/18-We had a 7PM reservation thru opentable made earlier in the week. We arrived on time and were told they were running about 15 min behind. We chose to wait in the bar. At around 715 we went back to the hostess desk to let them know where we were waiting. There was still no table available. I went back to the hostess at 730 to see what the time frame was for our table. The hostess informed me that she had no idea when we would be seated-there were still 4 names listed ahead of our name. I said opentable has an opening for 4 at 745. She stated that she really wished they didn't use OpenTable-they were really busy and she apologized-not usually this way-but that she didn't have a time when we would be seated. We found a table in the bar-one of the hostesses then offered to get a manager-I asked if it would it change the availability of a table-she said no. I said I would sit in the bar and would review on OpenTable and contact management on my own.
Had a 7 pm reservation and arrived at 6:50 but weren’t seated until 7:40 and even then didn’t have a table sized to fit our party of 6 so they had to squeeze in an extra chair which made for tight accommodations. Our waiter seemed overworked and only visited our table to take our drink order and our food order and deliver our check. Have visited this restaurant many times and this was by far our worst experience.
Our reservation was for 7:15. The parking lot was overflowing which I have noticed seems to be a problem at this location. They were running behind so we waited in the bar area. We were seated at about 8pm. Unfortunately the table where we were seated was right by the hostess station and within ear shot of the noisy bar area. It was hard to have conversation with our table. The food was excellent. I recommend the spinach dip appetizer. Overall a good place to eat.
