Lovely as ever. Beautiful day, perfect table overlooking the canal. Fantastic staff, food delicious and great ambience. One of my favourite restaurants.
Lovely setting on the canal, we were fortunate to be given a table on the waterside. Food was tasty (oysters followed by ther hslibut) and would definitely book again.
I would recommend this local eatery, but I did think it was very expensive at almost £130 for two sharing a starter and desert and two main course specials , one glass of wine and soft drinks ! Very tasty but too pricey
First time there and we loved it! Went for my father's birthday and got a lovely table by the canal. Food was gorgeous and great atmosphere. Would go back again.
A lovely restaurant. Beautiful ambiance by the canal. The food was good. Especially the shrimps popcorn and their Sangria was lovely
Simply love this place. A short tube ride from the centre of bustling London to a wonderful oasis
Delightful fish restaurant in charming setting. Definitely a place enjoyed by locals. Some simple dishes really well executed.
I been for the first time with my best friend and my 2 kids, I made reservation in advance, when we got there we been told that we must order straight away, they took us to a table at the end of the restaurant in the corner, they where hiding me with the kids, the staff been unorganised, lost, unprepared, many times either them either the client drop things on the floor, very noisy, I was very disappointed. Very disappointed how I been treated, is like every parent must stay home instead, because if you go to restaurant they would give you the worst seat ever. I am disgusted of the service they offered. I felt so embarrassed towards my friend which she came such a long way to meet me at this restaurant. Food was good at least. Rest of the service very down.
I really enjoyed our visit to The Summerhouse. Considering the hustle and bustle of nearby Paddington, the location of this restuarant is very calming. I really enjoyed my Sea Bream and particularly liked the pea puree that came with it. The open kitchen gives an intimate feel, and as London goes I found the prices very reasonable. Definitely worth a visit if you're a seafood fan and want something a little more relaxing from your London dining experience.
Thoroughly enjoyed lunch with two friends on Friday 5 July at The SummerHouse. Service was excellent; so was the food; and what a unique ambiance for me, a visiting Ozzie, next to the canal, watching narrow boats and water birds popping up through the algae on the water. And their coffee can grace an Australian eatery any time!! Thanks so much, SummerHouse. And thanks to my lovely friends who shouted me lunch.
Great restaurant with delicious food and fantastic staff. The setting is second to none and perfect for a hot summer day.
Nice restaurant with the canal view, quick service, tasty food!
A wonderful evening in a unique setting, perfect for a celebration
A beautiful sunny Sunday, nice table. but not a canal-side table as requested a good time in advance. One first course was wrong and there was a considerable wait for replacement whilst one of us had to eat as first course was hot. Many apologies from staff but it was a bit uncomfortable. Food was good and enjoyable, but we did find that the jersey new potatoes were lacking butter, mint or parsley and were a bit plain. We have been coming to the summerhouse for many years and will most certainly be coming again.
So a very mixed picture here.....lovely location, lovely wait staff, food - good enough (i'll say some more in a bit).
However, the welcome left everything to be desired. booked a lunch table for lunch on Sunday They have a 2 hour rule....which I get,...
Anyway, arrived at 12:40, asked for my table (restaurant nearly empty), told I could have it early, but my 2 hours starts from the moment i sit down (yes this was the second sentence from the host!). I said as the others had yet to arrive I would wait outside. I decided not to make an issue as it was an important family get together (3 people in total). Anyway stayed and noted that at no point was restaurant 100% full, people were not queuing at the door for our table. So all in all felt un-welcomed for no restaurant benefit at all.!!!
Food wise, generally ok. Greek salad...was odd in the extreme. A deconstructed number with fried feta balls and an olive tapanade...did not work for me.
Other dishes were good.
despite the location, the lack of welcome, approaching rude behaviour of the door will dissuade me from returning!
Good food at reasonable prices- delicious french toast and smoothies. Great location on the Regent's Canal, excellent friendly and accommodating service, relaxed ambience- Love this place!
Our dinner at The Summerhouse was fantastic, we had our parents visiting and wanted treat them to a lovely dinner. Both the food and service was great, we had certain dietary requirements that needed to be considered but the staff and kitchen were very accommodating and made all guests feel at ease.
The location was great with views of the canal made our experience all the better.
Will definitely be returning!
Absolutely loved this restaurant and would definitely recommend
Lovely setting for a summer afternoon to share some good seafood along the canal. Service is great and the staff is friendly. Food is nicely prepared and typical of a seafood restaurant.... wish it had been a little more creative. The tables are close together and it can get a bit noisy. All in all, a very enjoyable evening.
the oysters and the soy mignonette are outstanding
The chargrilled chicken in the salad tasted just charred. Roquefort with honey and mustard dressing is not a good mix.
When I gave the feedback to the restaurant the reply was "oh" and that is all.
The peach iced tea cost £5 and is a small glass of mostly ice and weak earl grey. No peach flavour.
What an incredible location especially for lunch on a sunny summer day! Pleasant room/terrace, good food, good service. Just perfect!
Great food and service and even better Dirty Martinis
I have been eating at this restaurant for three years and have never had a bad meal or experience; the staff have always been friendly, the view and ambience sublime. I highly recommend.
Our first visit and will definitely go back. An absoulte gem! Risotto, and Healthy Salad with Manouri + Asian Greens all delicious.
Nice settings , canal side table
all foods was great and perfect
Service charge is a bit extra , considering menu is pricy already
desert and coffee sealed the day
Awesome fish dishes, good value considering the quality. Service courteous but hurried, my plates were taken away while I was still chewing.
Lovely place. Took a while to get a drink at the start as the bar area is slightly round a corner. Greatly improved when in the restaurant. Great food, lovely view of the canal, just a lovely place to go.
we generally enjoy this restaurent - however the Fish and Chips are much too large and therefore not enjoyable. The service was not as attentive as previously.
Excellent overall and the food quality was outstanding
Love this place but the lamb and chicken were disappointing on this occasion. Probably best to stick with fish, given it’s a seafood restaurant!
Great meal and experience in every respect. Highly recommended.
The food was good, service excellent. Only wish their clam chowder had more fish and less potatoes in it.
Good food, good service. Lovely location. Would recommend this restaurant.
Nice view I recommend sea bass and sweet potatoes
Wonderful restaurant sitting on the canal in Little Venice. Great food & team make for a lovely dining experience- highly recommended.
We're seated quickly upon arrival and given a window seat which was an unexpected treat! The very smiley waitress bought us some hot drinks whilst we looked through the brunch menu. Despite the lovely setting, I have to say that the brunch is very 'average'. My friend ordered egg and bacon with toast - the bread was from a pre-packed brown sliced loaf (no excuse as 'good' bread is so easy to come by now) - it also arrived without any butter - we did ask for butter but it never came. I ordered the French toast with bacon - nice enough but nothing outstanding.
When I came to pay, the waiter bought over the card machine but immediately informed me they were having a problem with their connection - despite trying several times, the payment would not go through with the machine constantly flashing 'trying to connect'. Someone who I took to be the Manager came over a few moments later and told me rather loudly that my card had been declined - I said I'd been told there was a connection problem but he again repeated 'no, your card has been declined madam'. As I was taking my friend here for her birthday this was rather embarrassing. I paid the bill in cash and as the Manager walked away, the young waiter said again 'I can only apologise, this happens a lot'. I used my card 20 minutes later and half a mile down the road and there were no authorisation problems. Whilst I appreciate we all have issues with technology from time to time, I felt the Manager handled the issue poorly, especially as it is clearly a problem this restaurant encounters on a regular basis. I'd go back for the atmosphere, location and the view. The food and attitude of the management however were not something I'd rush back for or recommend.
Food quality is average venue is so charming deserts need a lot of improvement
Pleasant airy setting next to the Grand Union canal. Even on the rainy day that I visited there was loads of light for an enjoyable and relaxing lunch. A straightforward menu of very well prepared fish dishes with seasonal high quality ingredients. We'll priced wine list with plenty by the glass - it was lunchtime after all! Save room for dessert as you'll want to check these out.
This is a lovely place, sitting right on the water. The food is very good, and the service spot-on. The one challenge is that weekends bring in lots of larger family tables and those can get rather noisy and distracting.
