Initial service was a little slow -- took quite a while to have our orders taken
beyond that, food delivery was quite quick
appetizers weren't hot
food was very tasty indeed
show was fun!
While in town for buiness, we made our way to The Sultan's Tent. Someone in our party had crazy allergies and dietary restrictions. Our server (Anton) was more than understanding and accomodating.
We felt horrible to make so many dietary limitations, but he and the kitchen staff were amazing.
Lovely meals , lovely drinks and the all around great vibe felt very relaxing and authentic.
It's my go-to place in Toronto and although it's under new ownership/management, it'll be interesting to see what happens.
Many thanks to the wait staff and kitchen for not making us feel like a pain in the A**!
Nice restaurant ambience. Good service. The food is good, but not spectacular. Pricy. Talented belly dance shows.
Excellent!!!! I LOVE THE PLACE!!! THE SHOW WAS VERY ENTERTAINING AND REALLY FUN. FOOD WAS AWESOME NOT SPICY AT ALL WHICH WAS PERFECT CAUSE I DONT EAT SPICY AND PRICE WAS FINE. VERY ORGANIZED AND THE WAITER WAS VERY ATTENTIVE. I WOULD DEFINITELY recommend it to my friends.
Such a great hidden gem! The food and service are impeccable and the dancers are fantastic!
The food was okay, nothing I feel I need to return for. Definitely over priced! The 3 course set menu is deceiving. If we were to go back we’d just order mains off the a la carte menu, the apps weren’t worth it and half of the stuff on the menu had additional charges
Seating for very uncomfortable. I asked the general manager to change our seats but instead of saying we have seats for other area. I was told the seats were all reserved. Meanwhile there was a tent right across from us all empty and no one came ti those seats. we left late mid night.
Sultan's Tent claims to be a classy restaurant but it's not. Also the drinks were over priced.
I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Sorry, but this is my honest deed back.
The food was great however I have never seen a prix fixe menu that had a majority of their options as an additional add on price.. very misleading. The entertainment was ok.. maybe have belly dancers that can actually belly dance? Not just move their hands and their hips side to side.. you're advertising a certain experience... better make sure you can actually live up to it. The environment was very calm and relaxing, loved how each section was closed off with curtains. Overall a nice experience to try out but don't see myself going back, mainly due to the service.. our waitress forgot about us a handful of times, took about 45 min to be able to order food and that's only after I got another waitress to take our order. Other guests that had arrived after us had received their first course before we received our drinks (2 glasses of wine..).
Great place loved it.
I enjoyed the dancing girl
Very friendly and kind
The foo was special
My husband love the atmosphere
Was one of our favourite restaurants. We haven't been there in a year, however it seems like the quality of service and food went down. Not sure if its under new management. We went there for Valentines in 2018 and even though the set price was almost double the usual price, there was nothing much different or special. It didnt feel like Valentines, there was no special table, restaurant or food decorations. Service was terrible, untrained staff, one smelled really bad like body odour, the second kept forgetting the drinks that we ordered, no special welcome or introduction, and forgot to bring us a Moroccon tea at the end, which is our favourite. Food overall was just ok, nothing to praise about. Typically the food use to be excellent but we didn't like the limited menu that was set for Valentines when the full menu has much better selection at half the price. On a good note, dancers were great as usual and Mojitos were perfect.
We came for the valentines dinner. It was great because they had a full vegetarian option for my wife. The dancing was cool the food was good. The ambience was authentic. The staff were friendly and attentive. It was a great time.
First off we received a call from the restaurant as they wanted us to confirm our reservation, and at that time were told they only had a pre fixed menu for $80 per person. Since it was Valentine's Day we decided to go. We arrived about 1/2 before our 5:30 pm reservation and once seated we asked to be moved to a two seated instead of a sofa with other guest. They were very accommodating with us moving our seats. We ordered our dinner and unfortunately I had to send my back as what they called a New York Strip was more like a very thin slice of meat NO% a New York Steak, with lots of fats and soggy french fries, no vegetables... I wasn't impressed at all. My partner ordered the Lamb which was great, however because I had to send my food back and wait my partner asked them to take hers back to the kitchen to keep warm so that we could eat together makes sense. Well when they returned with my steak, which was now a proper New York steak (I have no idea why the first one was so bad) they also had my partners plate that they took to keep warm and the meat on the plate was reduced to one piece instead of the three pieces that were originally on there however they added more veggies to the plate to make up for the missing meat (I guess someone in the kitchen was hungry). Great Wine list as well. So other than that it is a nice place for date night as you get to watch the Belly Dancers and they were great!
New manager worked hard make up for the spotty service
Service was atrocious. Waited an hour for order to be taken. Overall meal took 3 and half hours. Do not recommend.
We understand the cost of the "set Menu" includes entertainment.
Unfortunately we arrived, ate and departed well before said entertainment commenced.
The cost of the set menu was acceptable and reasonable. However, the portions were exceptionally small. Both my fiancé and I are healthy and athletic and don't eat to excess. But we both departed feeling very hungry.
Having to pay additional for something on the set menu is an irritant and unnecessary.
We would have preferred an al a carte menu to allow us to select more..
I regret to say, we will not be returning.
Confusing seating arrangement, you have a choice of a comfy couch or a tiny chair awkwardly placed on a side. Considering there were just two of us, one person was doomed to have an uncomfortable dining experience.
Luckily we were able to switch our table, so both of us we siting on a couch. But I can imagine how this can totally ruin your dinner, especially if you are here for a date.
Food is decent, lots of vegetarian options, which is a huge plus for me and great service. Belly dancing was a ok, dancer looked inexperienced, but she was cute so that's that.
Will definitely come back for food and for Moroccan latte.
The food was really good and I would highly recommend it for special occasions. I left full which is great, however the price still seemed a bit steep even with Winterlicious.
The restaurant has nice setup and atmosphere but I would not recommend it to others. We were party of four. Waited 30 minutes to order drinks. Ordered cocktails. They are very pricey, I ordered, I think it's called Casablanca Sangria, it came in small wine glass filled with ice with very little to drink, it was over in two sips and it cost $12. Skip the cocktails...
Appetizer, Moroccan cigar, it was tasty but nothing special. Main dish, I ordered Lamb Stew, major disappointment, I got dry couscous with some dry pieces of lamb on top of it. Lamb had some aftertaste I didn't like. Dessert, I ordered Keskesu, hoping for something authentic but it was a disappointment.
Belly dancing show was at best mediocre.
Another thing that I didn't like is they added 18% service charge to the bill for the party of four. Will not go back.
We've had a great time at Sultan's. The dancing ladies were wonderful and fun! Wine and food were good, but the dish with lamb was not . Also it was a bit strange when the waiter said that we needed to leave. I don;t think the restaurants of such a high level should do that. Besides they new that we had to go to the show anyway.
I was really looking forward to the evening and left feeling very underwhelmed overall. The food was average and the belly dancing was just that 2 ladies dancing up and down the main walkway through the restaurant. I was expecting a more formal show.
I would have been more unhappy had it not been for the deal with Winterlicious which reduce the cost to $43 per plate instead of $55.
The menu options were not very creative and I felt rushed. My son had a peanut allergy which meant his food was prepared separately but he was served first and we all sat watching him eat while waiting for our food to be served.
Underwhelming and overpriced.
I have heard about this restaurant, but I have never been there. It was on the Winterlicious menu so we decided to try it and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was great the food was exceptionally good. The waitress was great she was knowledgeable and explained what the food was. I will go again on a weeknight or weekend for the belly dancing and live music.
This dining experience was a big disappointment . The belly dancing "show" was just 2 dancers, dancing around the tables. Food was mediocre. Glasses didn't match. Seats ripped. We don't recommend this restaurant.
Authentic Moroccan atmosphere with live entertainment on the Friday evening that I went. The food was fantastic - very tasty and well presented! Would definitely come back!
We loved this restaurant for its ambiance and food. More than that, though, the service was outstanding: attentive without hovering, friendly, open.
The venue was nice and cozy. The food is superb, the only complain I have was the service is very poor. There are not enough wait staff, we waited at least an hour for our waiter to come and take our orders. If my friend and I didn't call one of the waiters, we wouldn't be entertained at all...
Excellent food, service and environment. It was worth it to go later to enjoy the special dance
The options for the winterlicious were disappointing. There was not alot of variety. Was hoping for more authentic Moroccon dishes. Quality of food was good but the price for what you got was too high. One dancer does not constitute a "show". Again for the price... I expected several dancers not just one.
Service was a little sloppy but what service lacked they made up in food and entertainment.
After not having received a drink or anything to eat for 45 minutes, we left. Talked to the manager who really couldn't explain why and didn't provide any assurance it was going to get better. Terrible service experience.
Unfortunately I had a terrible experience at Winterlicious. The food was the least of the problems. My main dish was luke warm- but what really was upsetting is that the our drinks took 45-50mins. We had apps and starter and the drinks came with the meal. They waiter didn’t come around to offer more water in the meantime. They were totally off that night. Get your sh*t together.
The food was amazing. The performance was also great. The whole place was decorated Moroccan style beautifully.
The place was quite busy, probably because of Winterlicious. They appeared a little understaffed for the same reason. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience.
The place is stunning, the food options for vegan was a bowl of rice and one leaf of cabbage not worth 62.00 for a bowl of rice and cabbage. The entire group of disappointed as they came as far as bluemountain area.
I participated in “Winterlicious” last Friday. The ambiance and atmosphere at “The Sultans Tent” was amazing with the Moroccan vibe seating in tents. The belly dance show was also enjoyable and entertaining. Unfortunately, the food was not up to par. I ordered the beet and goat cheese salad as my appetizer which barely had any vinegarette dressing and portion size was small. For my main I went with the lamb stew which had very little sauce I don’t know why it was called a stew ...few pieces of lamb on top of couscous along with veggies and potatoes. The dish was very blend. I was really hoping for an vibrant flavours considering I am at a Moroccan restaurant. My friend ordered the beef check which her first piece was too hard to even get her knife through but our server gladly exchanged her dish and second plate was tender with a rich chickpea sauce. Desserts were fine but nothing special that I would rave about. Our server was very pleasant and accommodating but did take him time. Luckily we were in no rush. Since it was my birthday the server offered a free drink on the house which was extremely generous of him.
Price was $43 but with tax and gratuity paid $56, in my opinion not worth the value. I’ve had much better quality meals for less.
We went there for the show and the ambience, besides everything was disappointing. I uploaded the photo by the order they served us. We went there by 19:00. Our first course was the entrée. We were so surprised. Then the show started around 20:30. After the show finished, they came to take our plates. We told different servers serval times about the missing appetizers, but no one really put in mind until the leader told us they forgot our meals after nine. He apologized and offered us a 50% discount the full bill, and gave us 2 free glasses of wine. After that, our missing meals all appeared. However, the final bill was only 15% on entrées, and they charged us additional pita which we didn't order. Well, it was a bad Friday for us. We paid like we had a French dinner but we had some homemade foods in fact.
Too expensive for the quality of the food.
Novelty experience. Somewhat overpriced. Good for large groups.
I went to this restaurant to celebrate New Year with my boyfriend. They offer a four courses prix fixe menu in that day for $100 per person which include soup, salad, main entrees and dessert. At the beginning the waitress brought us wrong items which is other table’s food. After that they didn’t bring us the first course lobster bisque but a little deep fried potato ball instead. Imagine it’s like a grape size and the thing is this dish even not exist in the menu.... There is a lot of fat in the steak also, and the side of veggies was so poor, zucchini with red peppers. I searched from yelp the portion and quality of the food is fine but what I experienced was totally different. I was so disappointed. If the restaurants were too busy to handle all the customers so shouldn’t accept that much reservations. Literally 100 box just wasted.
The food arrived quickly and all at once, which is great. The server seemed a little out to lunch, the staff called earlier in the day to see where we would like to be seated and then didn't write this down anywhere so they tried to bring us into the tent after requesting not to be there. Part way through the meal the staff took the heaters away without a word, leaving the front end of the restaurant to slowly freeze. The food was good, but nothing to write home about.
Great fun and outstanding service by our waiter Anton!
The waitress ignore us ten mins into our arriving but the waiter was excellent and nice😁
