I have been going to the Strand House for many years. It never disappoints. Was meeting a good friend that I haven’t seen in 14 months. Two hours went by in the blink of an eye.
From the host to the server to the chef, we received the very finest restaurant experience. Thanks to everyone for making my our anniversary very special. We had the crab cakes, the beet salad, the salmon and frites and were treated to a delicious dessert.
Totally wanted a view of the sunset while visiting L.A. Had low expectations since I knew they could fill the place based on the view, not the food. Was pleasantly surprised that the food was actually very good the service excellent AND the sunset spectacular. We split an appetizer, salad, entree, and dessert. Perfect amount of food for two women. Loved the first three, the desert was okay. Appetizer: grilled Spanish octopus 24.
potato confit, aji amarillo aioli, mustard greens,Chimichurri, crispy Choclo
chili spiced avocado 15.
Napa cabbage, jicama, Cotija, crème fraîche
crispy quinoa, shaved red onion, chili lime vinaigrette
pan seared Branzino 44.
black truffle risotto, Hon Shimeji mushrooms, English pea nage
Desert was the gluten free chocolate with buckwheat crust. Okay, is all I'm give it.
One of our favorites. We love this place! Food and service always excellent. The views are great!
I have been to The Strand House on numerous occasions and always found it to be great dining experience.
We started with Parker House Rolls(these seem to be making a comeback) could have made a meal in those alone. Next I had Lamb Chops and date had Salmon. Both showed well and were prepared as ordered. I am showing my age but I miss The Mint Jelly with Lamb Chops. Server indicated you could buy it at Bristol Farms, that was an interesting fact, I have used it in the past when preparing Lamb Chops.
Had Cappuccino for desert and was fine way to finish a great meal. Throw in a great sunset and this place is hard to beat.
I love the ahi tuna salad.
Amazing view, great service, excellent food!
This restaurant is in a cute area! The food and service was amazing. The view is amazing. My colleagues shared the red snapper, I tried it and was delicious!! This was a great choice! Will return the next time I’m in the area!
Great spot, solid menu, great service, great for dates, friends dining, foodies!
The branzino is always prepared nicely
Chef Austin has completely changed this place around. The food is decadent & the experience is well worth it. Views for sunset are spectacular. A great place for any special occasion. Their brunch is fantastic too.
So enjoyed a lunch meet-up with a good friend. The service was wonderful, the food delicious & the ambiance was very pleasant. Look forward to it all again.
Our server, Kelly, was fantastic, very knowledgeable and attentive. We had a window seat table, looking out to the pier. Food was excellent, tasty, and presented in a lovely manner. I recommend the brussel spouts! Great ambiance. A few little draw backs... parking is limited, the trash trucks seem to stop on the ocean side on the restaurant, so even though you're sitting above where they come in, you still see them. Otherwise A+!
The Strand never disappoints me with its fabulous food choices. The French fries as an appetizer is so very good. The pizzas are made to perfection. The doughnut desert is heavenly. Also, it is in a great location that can’t be beaten.
I made a reservation and we were a little early so expected to wait. However there were so many empty tables and people that were walking in without reservation we’re being seated before us. I finally took the little monitor they gave us at check-in and asked when we might be seated; immediately took us upstairs to seat us. I don’t quite understand what was going on there. The waiterForgot to bring out the appetizers so he took one of them off our bill and we passed on the other one. The food was just OK, nothing special but the view of Manhattan Beach is the highlight. Not sure I’d come back here again, but maybe I’ll give it one more try.
The Branzino and truffle risotto was amazing. Everyone loved what we ordered. Our waiter was flakey though. Thank god for the bus boy. Also thank you to the manager for my birthday donuts 😊
Shrimp spaghetti was delicious, however, they did not de-vein several of the shrimp, so that was disgusting & I had to sit there & scrape out the veins myself, eww. Should have sent it back, but we were on a 1hr linch time frame & we were starving. Very small portion also, harly any pasta, for a whopping $18 for pasta. Service was not super attentive either, like it usually is. This is the 2nd time I have been recently w.meh service. New manager maybe? Cant beat the view tho.
Lovely setting with views the Strand. The servers and hosts were all pleasant and very helpful . The food menu is delicious but has been the same for three years. It needs to be switched up for the folks who are repeaters.
Chef Austin delivered innovative and delicious food for our party of 5, and everyone enjoyed all our selections. we'll be back!

Enjoyed a lovely Easter Brunch. All five of us ordered different items off of the menu, and each of us were pleased with our choices. We each felt that the quality and taste of the food was superb. I had the Lobster Benedict, and it was the best Benedict I have ever had!
My husband and I took our friend for brunch on Sunday and had a great time💜
We go to The Strand House often and really enjoy the food and the view.
It turns out that Easter brunch means the left side of the menu has breakfast and the right side of the menu has lunch - Brunch.
The food is always great, and with a changing menu, always new and refreshing. The house made English muffin is a must try. Perfectly toasted. I would buy them if they sold them to take home. In addition to the good food, the staff is superb. To top it all off, the views aren't bad, either.
As usual, this was a really nice meal and ambiance. I got the vibe from the waiter anything we wanted was putting him out though. Benefit of the doubt, maybe I misread him or he was just having a human day.
Wonderful food and service.
Really excellent service. The food was very good, but second to service and ambiance. Corkage was high ($30), so probably won’t drink here much, but overall very good
Amazing food, wonderful service and of course a great view.
Strand House is so awesome! I always get so well taken care of - food and service is amazing and the view is stunning!!
I went to the Stand House for my husband’s birthday. I made a reservation about a week before and had no problem getting a seat reserved for sunset. Unfortunately when we arrive the table wasn’t ready for another 20 minutes (what is the point of a reservation?) Our waiter was very friendly and prompt. The food was pretty good, but in the end, we spent $130 on salad, pizza, and a couple of drinks. It was a little difficult to hear my husband, as the noise level was pretty high—much higher than I’d expect for a “fancy” restaurant.
Great place. Service is very slow. Food is pretty tasty.
The view is excellent here, of the beach, the pier and the ocean. The food is better, a lot better, than one would expect given how good the view is. We had salmon and scallops for mains and started with octopus. All were really quite good. My only gripe is that the only bread available is parker house rolls, good but not the yeast bread one likes to eat with dinner. And the rolls were $7!
Great food and server. Not a very intimate setting, as you’re surrounded by tables in every direction and it’s pretty loud.
The food was great and our waiter was fantastic
We had a great table right by the window so the view was great. Metered parking was right across the street. The service and food were great. They have a bar downstairs that was a little noisy, but in the restaurant itself it was easy to carry on a conversation.
Our favorite place for brunch, lunch or dinner in LA. Everything we've ever ordered has been terrific and the setting is perfect. The service is excellent and the burger is actually amazing.
The Strand House is in a great location. It rained the night we were there, and we had a table near the wall, so our view of the ocean was obstructed by other guests and the weather. Food was good and accommodated both a vegetarian and a paleo diet. Service staff was friendly and attentive. It was rather loud in both the bar and the restaurant, so it was hard to carry on a conversation without feeling like you had to shout.
Extremely loud restaurant so it honestly wasn’t the best for a date. Suitably priced for the location. The oysters were amazing, but I definitely wouldn’t order the T-bone again. If I ever come back here I’ll sit at the bar.
