The Strand House Ratings and Reviews
Love this place and have been going there for years. Only reason why I gave the service 4* was the following. Lunch was about 2:30pm and when ready to leave about 4pm I wanted to order something from the menu to go home. Unfortunately the menu was only good until 3pm and the only thing they had was some pizzas etc- not what i was looking for. The manager came over and apologized and offered me something else however I did not want anything else. My only issue was the the waiter/waitress should communicate a little better and come to the table to let us know that the menu was done and did we want anything else. There was no communication until they brought us the check and that was a little frustrating. They did make some adjustments to the bill however which was nice.
Other than that I still recommend this place for the views and the food.
I have been to the Strand on several occasions and it is consistently a great place to eat. They have a changing menu so there is always something excellent to try. I just had the Norwegian crab legs and it was an excellent choice. We all enjoyed our choices.
This is a wonderful restaurant with nice decor, wonderful ocean views, excellent service and good food. Four of us met for lunch/brunch on a Sunday but had a difficult time carrying on a conversation because of the noise level. Sadly the acoustics are terrible unless you can be seated near the patio or open patio door on the street side. I have eaten here in the past on a weekday and don't remember the noise level being so bad.
We went to the Strand House last May for our daughter's college graduation and we had a wonderful time. We were back in Southern California for the weekend and wanted a beautiful place for brunch on Sunday. I had requested a table by the window and though our booth wasn't right next to the window, we still had a lovely view and we were near the open part of the restaurant.
Our waiter was very attentive and the food was delicious. We look forward to going back again.
The food and view were delicious. I had the lobster roll and my husband had the barbacoa tacos. Both really tasty. We also order a margherita pizza as an appetizer and that was also really good. The cons would be the noise level and the fact that they serve brunch until 5 in the afternoon on the weekend. Our reservation was at 2pm and it would have been nice to have more lunch options. I was looking forward to trying the mahi mahi tacos, but they weren't on the menu for lunch on the weekend. The view is amazing and you can take a stroll after you eat. Stick around for an amazing sunset after a late lunch!
First visit here, and I really enjoyed it! Location is great, overlooks the beach. Only a few true “outdoor “ tables, but we were lucky to nab one! Frankly, with the huge windows inside, on a warm day, it’s probably more comfortable inside, and since the window-side of the place faces the water, the views are great!
Service was attentive, but not overly so, which I appreciate. We never felt rushed, but never felt like we were waiting either. Lovely touch was that they personalized our menus with “Happy Birthday,” since I’d let them know in advance that we’d be celebrating!
We were there for brunch, and I thought the menu was both great, and vast! Lots of choices from traditional brunch/breakfast fare to more adventurous takes on the classics, as well as the addition of lots of lunch salad & entree choices. I had the salmon Benedict, which was recommended by our sever, and rightly so. One of my friends had the veggie quiche with salad, which was a generous portion, without being so much as to leave one feeling heavy. Our other friend had the burger, which was perfectly cooked!
I will definitely return!
The service was amazing! The staff was friendly and attentive. The manager and his staff made us feel welcomed. We wanted to sit outside and they made it happen. I've never experienced such remarkable service. It was the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Not to mention the food was delicious! The cinnamon roll and French toast were divine. Definitely a great place to enjoy Sunday Brunch while enjoying the view.
Appetizer was over priced and service was very slow. Both tables next to us were served and Finished before we were and we could visibly tell they ordered a very similar meal to us, so it was not a matter of food preparation time. The environment was very nice and upscale however a party next to us was extremely loud and made it hard for us to have conversation
My husband I picked the Strand House primarily for its beautiful views and it didn’t disappoint. The nice thing is there are few seats that don’t offer a view. So even with a last minute reservation (and a very considerate and thoughtful hostess, Lexi), we got a lovely table for two and a romantic sunset to kick off our dinner. The cocktail menu is quite fun. We started with the hamachi crudo which was light and tasty. I had oysters, the pear frisée salad and one of the best dishes I’ve ever had—fresh crab in a light creamy broth. It was insanely good. My husband had the salmon which delicious as well. We had a fantastic server, Francisco. Honestly he made the evening so enjoyable I will request to sit at one of his tables the next time we go and I recommend you do the same. He was charming, had great suggestions and was so intuitive with every step of the meal. This restaurant is run like a well tuned engine. Service and views make this a must do if you’re in the area and a seek-and-try if you’re not.
Unfortunately arrived 3 min after the 15 min reservation window and was told that we would have to vacate our table within 90min. Undue pressure for a business meeting. And to think I frequent this restaurant on a regular basis. Nonetheless, food was great, waiter was fantastic, hostess on the other hand....
Great location and beautiful view of the ocean; food was good; we had lunch. Lobster roll had a lot going on and I prefer less seasoning. The bun was great. My spouse said that the lamb baguette dip was excellent. He loved the fries. I don't eat meat so I couldn't eat the fries because they are cooked in bone marrow but they did look great! Overall a nice experience.
