Great service. Great food. Just way too noisy. Would totally go back, but maybe just with one other person because for a party of 6, even though we were in the back, it was really hard to carry on a conversation. Excellent quality and reasonably priced with a menu to appeal to many tastes.
Made a reservation, 1st problem was they wanted to put us at a high top which is not what I consider Comfortable restaurant seating . After stating it was not acceptable they did put us in the back Room which was extremely small next to the kitchen door . It was hot and loud . Waitress was nice bread was good although I had begged for more than one piece . Cocktails were not good . Appetizer I need soup tasted like there wasA cup of sugar in it . I've never had sweet onion soup . I didn't caprese salad was not a salad, no . Hard green tomatoes were inedible . Mazzarella was the only thing good . Ask for balsamic vinegar to try to do something with it and once againIt tasted like there was a cup of sugar in it . One of us had a Burger with what else but a sweet roll and the other meal was a shoe leather piece of steak On top of sweet potatoes and sweet sauce . The whole meal was rather revolting . I don't understand why the chef would put but so much sugar in everythngI would never go back.
We could have stopped with the starters! Duck fat fries and short rib mac & cheese were amazing, but we added both the flatbread of the day and the spicy bacon flatbread. Every bite was scrumptious. Then we went onto entrees: Scallops were cooked perfectly. Tuna was prepared to a T. Even the go-to hamburger was top notch. As an added bonus, Monday night is half-price bottles of wine. We scored!
I appreciate their desire to source locally as much as is possible. The food is outstanding and our server was a top-notch professional. And, when work obligations caused some of our party to arrive late, it was no problem and staff were very accommodating. Can't wait to get back!
This used to be one of my favorite restaurants for many years, but unfortunately it has gone downhill as of late.
Don't expect your reservation to actually be upheld. During our last visit, we had to wait 40 minutes after our reserved time at the overcrowded bar before being seated, and were only offered a half-hearted apology for our troubles. It appeared many other people were waiting there for their reservations as well. A more cynical patron might be lead to believe they overbook their reservations in an attempt to sell more drinks.
After being seated our server was quite gruff with us. The food still was decent, but unfortunately was the only part of the experience that didn't leave a bad taste in my mouth.
We have eaten brunch and lunch many times at Stone Rose and all meals were excellent. Sat. Night dinner was different. The noise level and music were so loud that we had trouble talking to our friends across the table. ( friends we hadn’t seen in a long time) Very disappointing.
This was our first visit and we had a terrible time:
1. Even though we had a reservation, they did not have a table for us in the dining section - the only table available was by the bar by the front door which was extremely noisy.
2. The noise level was so bad, we could hardly carry on a conversation with our friends.
3. The food quality was mediocre.
This is just not our kind of restaurant.
So happy to have discovered this place in Conshy. More than a typical gastropub, liked the variety of entree selections and specials. Nice little clean and unfussy storefront location with some side street parking, Limited but good options for draft beer (mostly Victory and Troegs). Started with the daily special flatbread (shortrib & arugula) - outstanding! The burger has been highly rated so I went with that. Nothing to write home about, it was a little overcooked though I requested medium, and the brioche bun doesn't hold up to the size and structure of the burger. Stubby little fries on the side were unusual in stature but tasty. Friends ordered the halibut and it looked fresh, well-cooked and straightforward on a bed of pureed daikon. They raved about the quality and preparation of the fish. Some reviewers have complained about service but ours was on point from start to finish. Ended with a good cup of La Colombe coffee. Biggest drawback to becoming regulars here is the noise level, it's out of control high.
Chose the spot as a place to meet family as some were coming from Philly and others from Chester County. Food was great and we had great service. This is so much better than a chain type restaurant in King of Prussia. Glad I finally made it there. Will definitely go back!
Arrived exactly on time for our 7pm Friday night reservation, but were informed we'd have a 10 min wait. Ok not a big deal. Then we were seated at a two top right next to the kitchen door, a very busy spot. Kinda disappointing to be put at a bad table after having made a reservation, but it was the next available so still ok. A party of 6 were celebrating a birthday, with a screaming baby, nearby. The small area became much too loud for trying to talk and hear my date. I've been here before and always loved the food, however, the calamari lacked something...maybe weren't cooked enough to remove the taste of flour when biting into them. I'll try a different appetizer next time. My crab salad came out with very little to possibly no dressing on it. Luckily I was able to grab the server quickly and get some of the yummy dressing. After that, I was very pleased with my crab salad. I know it's been on and off of the menu and I'm happy that it's back! I don't think I'd attempt to have an intimate date here on a weekend night again, but I'll definitely be back for lunch or on a weekday night, when it would likely be less crowded.
We met friends for dinner, the food was AWESOME. There were five of us an we all ordered different entrees so we could taste them all. Everyone was pleased with their meal. The service was great. Only complaint is that it is noisy. Although not from the neighborhood we will definitely go back. We loved it! Our compliments to the chef.
The menu includes modern craft cuisine and drinks that are delicious! The food for me could be described as classy comfort food, a beautiful combination! The wine list is excellent, especially for being in the suburbs. The ambiance is great and Fran was a great server!
