The Stone House Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant is intimate but not crowded, furnished with dark-wood tables, and pale, wood-trimmed walls. We were greeted graciously the moment we entered. My friend and I shared three small plates and one entree between us. The small plates we had included the roasted marrow bone which was subtle and delicious, the Alaskan spot prawns with pasta and mushroom which was a savory delight, and a small salad. For the entree, we enjoyed the King Salmon. Split between the two of us, this was a well-proportioned meal and also a satisfying way to sample a broad swath of an eclectic and intriguing menu. All in all it was a terrific experience and I will be recommending it to friends. I also hope to return again sometime soon.
I had driven past The Stone House many times before but never thought to check it out, until I was looking for somewhere to have a romantic date. It has a great cozy atmosphere, very good service (although the kitchen gets a little backed up sometimes), and the food is fantastic. Highly recommended.
I finally tried the Stonehouse after 3 years in Redmond and was pleasantly surprised. I had the beet salad, crab pasta and pork belly starters. My husband had the halibut cheeks and salmon. Everything was good - most notable, the pork belly, which melted in your mouth, and the broth in the halibut dish. Some things could have used more seasoning, but, overall, I enjoyed my meal and really appreciated the quality of ingredients. Usually, if I want to satisfy my foodie craving, I drive back to Seattle. Now, I don't have to, as often. My only complaint was the apple tart. It was served chilled, intentionally, which I found odd. Dough and apples were undercooked. Would have preferred warm or at least room temp.
I just moved to the area from Southern California and found this place through Google. It is a nice spot. I will be going back. It reminds me a little of eating at some of the small places in Europe. It is an old home (made of stone, hence the name) turned into a restaurant. I had the salmon and the mussels as an appetizer. Both were fantastic.
We have lived in Redmond for over 20 years, and I never heard of the Stone House until I was looking on the internet for a special place to take my husband for his birthday. It was a great choice and a special treat. The food was very good; my husband said, "Let's come back tomorrow."
You can't go wrong at The Stone House. Everyone in our party of four loved their meal. The bone marrow was scrumptious as was the duck, the mussels and the chili rubbed fillet. We could not have asked for better service. All in all an excellent double date night! We will definitely be back and highly recommend it.
The ambiance and service are great but the food is simply not worth the cost of a top priced meal. The pork was over salted, the gnocchi tough, and the apple tart was cold and hard. I think this place has potential - but good service isn't enough to bring me back.
We recently went to Canlis...and I have to say...this was a better dining experience. The food was flavorful, well presented, and tasted amazing. The service was attentive, without being smothering. I would recommend this restaurant for a date night, or special occasion. It is understandably popular, so I would recommend a reservation before you arrive. A wonderful evening. I fully recommend this establishment!
The food was amazing and well flavored. Hesitant that restaraunt was a house but the inside vibe was buzzing and pleasant. The only downside was time to receive food for me. A bread/starter would have mead the experience a 5 star review. Thanks Stone house for a great experience.
This was our first time at the Stone House. The seating area is quite small but we didn't feel uncomfortable. The server was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was outstanding! My husband had the small plate of meatballs in a mushroom cream sauce which was delicious. I had a salad with roasted beets, blue cheese & figs which was also very good. My entree was pork tenderloin which was outstanding! We had a dessert that was described as an Italian style beignet, it was good but not really noteworthy. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and we would definitely go back. It's great to find such a cute place with such good food so close to home!
We dined here before, but it has been a while -- all of the construction in the area has kept us from going there. However, we are glad we made the trip. Each bite of both entrees was the perfect mixture of items. Yum! And there wasn't a bad dessert on the menu -- I would have liked to have order all of them. Salads are super fresh and eclectic as well. We won't let the construction deter us anymore.
I booked a table at The Stone House for our 8th anniversary, and was really glad I did. Our waitress Theresa was informed, remembered our food allergies without prompting, gave fantastic recommendations (especially the wine- marvelous!) and was a pleasure to be around. Serving sizes were what I'd call 'European Normal', rather than 'USA normal' so you could comfortably have a starter, main and dessert without coming away stuffed to the gills! It was refreshing to have a complete meal and not be uncomfortably full.
My only reservation would be to suggest another venue if you want a quiet, intimate dinner for two, as the understandable happy crowd were rather loud. It is a very small venue, and bookings are essential.
The Stone House is the most romantic and unique space in Redmond. Not only did the staff help me plan a gorgeous birthday dinner for my husband, they made it an amazing evening. Upon (our late) arrival, they immediately brought out two martini's which is our special occasion drink. They were made perfectly with every quirky detail that I spoke to them about. We were seated candlelit next to the original fireplace of the "home" which is only one aspect that makes this restaurant so unique- it's dining in a darling bungalow.
The food is creative and incredible, and the fresh menu changes to showcase what is in season. My husband ordered the pork belly and I ordered the halibut- it soon became a competition of whose was best! Oh, and dessert!
We tried Stone House for the first time and had a very nice experience. Staff was courteous and helpful. Started of with the foie gras and a nice glass of red. Beef cheeks for her and flat iron steak for me were both prepared nicely. Small dining space in the living area of an old craftsman made for a quaint romantic evening. Left satiated and content. We would definitely try again.
These people obviously know how to cook meat! The proteins are ridiculously good! However, the side dishes are so blah, they are an insult to the amazing meats. The polenta has the smell, taste ans texture of scrambled eggs. The giant stalks of broccoli are bland and just lazy. The beautiful Brussel sprout leaves that could add a pleasant crunch to a dish, are limp as a result of being drenched in some heavy vinegar concoction..... The service and wine list are excellent.
Fix your sides and you could be amazing!
I brought in out of country guests who love great food and restaurants, and we chose office space in Redmond for the week. In the evenings they expect a great experience, and the Stone House really delivers. They do a really great job. Everything we had was great, but I have to say that I've been in search of the perfect salmon for a long time, because most cooks miss something...but this was finally it...the best.
A unique restaurant in an unusual location. You drive past this place all the time, and miss out. The restaurant itself is small, tables close together, atmosphere cozy but energetic. Feels urban, like NYC or SF small restaurants. The wine list is very good. The service was attentive and pleasant, though the wait for the food was a bit long. The menu is very personal and delicious. The beef cheeks and king salmon were great main courses, and the Thai mussels and the Pork Belly appetizers were great. The chocolate mousse cake was a rich and wonderful end of the meal. A great little place to get pampered with a unique, flavorful and creative meal. A secret, local treasure!
Had business in Redmond and went to The Stone House based on the recommendations found in Open Table. Had a great meal and the service was excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant. Ate outside because it was such a great night...but the outside ambience is not the best. The peach and bree salad was a great start to the meal. Loved the combinations in the salad. The main course of salmon with gnocchi and brussel sprout leaves was some of the best salmon I have had in a long time....of course coming from Philadelphia to Redmond..that was probably why the salmon was so good!! Will definitely go back when I get back to Redmond.
Great experience all around. Third time there and raw oysters and heirloom tomatoes for appetizers were fantastic. Would recommend having a blurb about the historical nature of the property has a part of the charm. Due to neighborhood construction, getting in and out and to the onsite parking-great feature I appreciate-took more time. Outdoor seating in the summer used to be great. Hope that will return with additional delight after the park next door is renovated.
We tried the Stone House based on reviews on Open Table. It was a good choice. We were celebrating an anniversary and the intimate setting, the small size, and the incredible wine list made it quite good. The construction that made it almost impossible to reach was something else but that will go away with time.
The 4 of us had a wonderful meal at The Stone House. I had the special, baby back ribs, and they were quite tasty and paired well with a local ale. The server recommended the halibut, and two of our guests really enjoyed that. The desserts were especially tasty, even if we couldn't finish them. It did take a long time to get our food so dinner took much longer than expected. Also, at the moment, there is construction on the major street outside The Stone House, so leave a little extra time to get there.
