The Stone Cellar
We dine at your restaurant quite frequently and have always found the service and food of good quality and taste
Only suggestion is the owner should fix the air conditioning cover on the pipe hanging down from the ceiling over the wine fridge
We ate outside on the patio in the back. It was perfect, quiet with an umbrella so not too much sun. The service was timely but not at all rushed, and the food delicious. We liked it that the portions were not huge, as in some other restaurants. So, a very enjoyable lunch!
A small but delicious menu. Loved the outdoors patio - pity it faces a parking lot.
Such a beautiful historic building to enjoy a wonderful dinner. The food and service was great.
We will be back yearly from Guelph to enjoy our anniversary.
We chose to go into Perth for the day as part of our 48th wedding anniversary celebration. We went to a wonderful theatre and after checking out numerous options for dining we chose the Stone Cellar based on the menu posted your web page and because it was a Friday booked a table on line for 5:30 p.m. It didn't surprise us that there were no other diners yet due to the hour, however the staff didn't seem to be prepared to greet anyone.
1st issue: We were seated at the only table for two in the establishment
2nd issue: It took some time for a waitress to take a beverage order, again no other patrons
3rd issue: the glass of sauvignon blanc was a piniot grigio
The complimentary appetizer was delicious, and the baked brie with blueberries was lovely.
My husband ordered the meatloaf which came highly recommended. It was flavourful but dry so he asked for additional sauce. He didn't enjoy picking out the numerous dried rosemary stems. I ordered the rack of lamb with the blueberry gastrique. First of all the lamb was overcooked and only seasoned with salt, secondly there wasn't a blueberry gastrique, it was the same blueberry sauce that was served with the baked brie. A gastrique is blueberries cooked in carmalized sugar and strained through a sieve. Lastly the waitress had appoligized earlier as the starch was not fresh mashed potatoes but crouguettes. These were a poor excuse for deep fried breaded leftover mashed potatoes. Shameful!
That's it.....you asked for a review any you got it. I wouldn't come back nor would consider a recommendation.
Everything was great from Lesley's attentive, timely and knowledgeable service, to the excellent and attractive presentation of the plates, to the quality and freshness of the food. Kudos on the veggies too - it takes a lot to have the snappy crunch of perfect peas in a pod! The chicken torpedoes were incredible and the salmon perfect. Although a trifle pricey - you get what you expect - fabulous food, ambiance and service. Glad we moved to Perth and found you!! Full value for the cost.
My wife and I have eaten here at least a dozen times and it's been fantastic each and every time. We have our favorite dishes and there are plenty of appetizers and desserts to round out the meal. Cozy place too.
Great food and the waitress was polite and attentive. Pear and blue cheese salad was a great starter. Had crab cakes and scallops as my main. Hubby had rib steak. Wish there was room for dessert as cheesecake looked delicious. Would recommend.
Perth is fortunate to have a restaurant with the quality of The Stone Cellar. It is a lovely setting; service is excellent and food quality consistent. From the amuse bouche to the martinis and tender steaks, we were delighted.
Over priced dressed up burger joint with poor unfriendly service.
4 of us ate there and every one of us loved the food quality and the presentation. The ambiance was outstanding..love the stone walls. The desserts were to die for ...Death by Chocolate and raspberry cheesecake. Definitely going back!!
We enjoyed sitting in the rear patio where it was very quiet. The service was attentive and knowledgeable. The crab cakes were do die for!
A very enjoyable meal in a lovely ambiance which is casual but upscale. The crab cake appetizer was a hearty offering, beautifully presented and delicious. We also shared an order of mushrooms on toast which was pleasant, but not exceptional and rather pricey. My husband had the pork chop which he raved about (best he's ever had!) and I found the rack of lamb delicious and perfectly prepared. The service was pleasant and efficient. Definitely worth driving from Ottawa to make a return visit!
We reserved a table for two and the restaurant happened to be hosting a large group upstairs the same night. We were offered a lovely table outside where it was beautiful and quieter. Our server was genuinely pleasant, helpful, and personable. during the wait for our food, the co- owner brought us Proseco and crab cakes. Everything was amazing. We felt very spoiled and left with full bellies. I would definitely return. Only down fall was my date dumped my the next day after I treated him to dinner. But if I can't pick a respectful, decent guy, at least I can pick an amazing restaurant!
We thought the menu might be a bit over the top as there were so many ingredients listed for each dish, but in fact, they all worked well, though some thought maple syrup on the fish and chips was a bit much. The BLT was a bit bland and uninteresting. More variety needed in desserts, however. All that was on offer that day was cheesecake; we preferred a lighter dish to finish and two of us couldn't eat cheese.
We have never had a bad meal here and this last time was no exception. The rack of lamb was outstanding as was my “bone in” pork chop.
The raspberry- chocolate cheesecake was also very good.
The two glasses of champagne - on the house - to help celebrate our anniversary was a very nice and unexpected touch.
We will definitely be back and a hearty recommendation to anyone who is looking for a superior dining experience in Perth.
Soup was not hot enough.
Sweet potato fries not hot at all.
Bison burger was barely hot enough.
Service was slow.
Almost as if my lunch sat in the kitchen for 10 minutes before serving.
Exceptional food and great atmosphere. I will be recommending it to all my friends!
This was our 2nd time at the Stone Cellar... as this is now our favourite place to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
From the ambiance, the service and the food...all was absolutely fabulous.
Highly recommend this restaurant for any special outing..
Christine & James
Took my parents there for my mum’s birthday, it was excellent.
Excellent service!! Pleasant place to lunch. Good variety..
It was excellent in every way! The server was professional, the food "very delicious", the atmosphere inviting and the decor attractive, clean environment.
We were a party of four celebrating several important occasions, so we chose Stone Cellar due to recommendations from others. Let me say that we were very impressed with everything. From the welcoming and friendly greeting, to ensuring that the special table we had requested was ready for us, to the efficient, discrete and pleasant service, to the quality of the food and wine, to the perfect sequencing of serving the four courses, to the fabulous presentation of the plated dishes, to the incredible quality of the food, to the ambiance and especially the noise level (we could actually talk to each other!), it was, without a doubt, the finest meal experience that we four have shared...ever! Being in the military (some still active and one retired), we have travelled extensively and experienced many cultures and foods (even a Michelin 3 star restaurant in France many years ago) - but the Stone Cellar was for us, perfect!!
Valentine's Day dinner was fabulous. Duck a l'orange was absolutely superb; we'll be returning soon to have it again. Service was excellent; our special requests were accommodated with a smile.
Everything about our meal was perfect....from the Duck and Filet to the mashed potatoes and veggies. Proportions were spot on and we even had room to share an amazing white chocolate raspberry cheesecake. Thank you for an exceptional Valentine's dinner in a wonderful atmosphere! We will be back.
Great service & Awesome food! Loved the warm fireplace!
Went for lunch and food was amazing!
Celebrated our anniversary, really loved the food and service.
Excellent restaurant, friendly knowledgeable service, great food, and we were happy to pay more than we usually spend on a good meal
We visited on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of our 1st date. The restaurant was nicely decorated for Christmas, and cozy with the fireplace going. The food was very good. There was a good selection of wine and dessert. Service was excellent.
An excellent meal and service.
Our server was professional, well informed and the food was delicious.
We would definitely recommend The Stone Cellar to others!
Severely disappointed in the service, reservation for 7pm, arrived on time, waited at door for 15 minutes, was asked to the wait at the bar for 30 minutes (where they couldn't make any cocktails we requested). Then once seated, our order wasn't taken until 8:15pm, appetizers came out at 8:45pm, and entree served at 9:30pm. There were only 2 servers with a full restaurant and a party of 10-15ppl upstairs, which is simply not enough and it negatively effected our experience.
Felt the food was overpriced for the value. Not enough options for the side (i.e. only mashed potato, sweet potato fries, or rice). Veggies were too overcooked, burger was too plain.
I like this restaurant, though it is expensive. I would like more fish choices. Last month I needed a steak knife to cut the carrots, they are too hard and not hot. Dessert choices only pies or cheese cake, no other cakes or creme caramel etc
A very nice evening. Two large groups at the restaurant. I would not go to this restaurant if time were an issue. The food was the same quality as always, very good. The staff was friendly and did a great job meeting everyone’s needs. I have eaten at Stone Cellar several times and enjoy the food and service. I’ve eaten on the patio once and really enjoyed the lunch .
It was amazing - they stayed open just for us as we were the only customers that day! The food was incredible and cooked to perfection - the service was great and the atmosphere magical- just wished we lived closer I would be here A LOT! Thank you for being such wonderful people - you cd have called and cancelled us but you stayed open and this says so much about this place and the owners than just the food!! Quality place !!!
Our meal was excellent and service was fair. Make a reservation as it was very busy for a Monday and the tables are close together. The menu had a lot of fine selections.
Our food was just ok. My wife’s meatloaf was too mealy. My duck a l’orange tasted like some one had deep fried a duck leg and then threw some sauce on it.
Service was good and the restaurant has a nice ambiance.
We had an amazing experience and were certainly treated well for our anniversary dinner. Our server made our evening feel special and the food was delicious. We will definitely dine at The Stone Cellar the next time we visit Perth.
Everything was very good except the rib eye steak was very tough.
