The Steakhouse at Harrah's - Harrah's Reno Ratings and Reviews
I had no idea what to expect because I'm new to the area. I had a great time. The wait staff was exceptional. I was celebrating a birthday and the dessert arrived with a very creative and beautiful design of party balloons and birthday wishes. Our dinner was delightful and exceptionally prepared. I'm definitely going back again.
We have been here several times and are never disappointed. If you are local, you have to get a Players Card--the Steakhouse honors a 25% discount with the card!! The service is exceptional here, very attentive without being pompous. The food was delicious and exactly as we ordered it. The desert choices made it hard to pick just one. Our only miss with the appetizer that was small and expensive and not as flavorful as we expected (it was the ravioli), but the mouse that came with the bread was exceptional. It is pricey, but worth the cost for special occasions. Kids will not appreciate the experience for the money.
Every bit as excellent as when I first started having special occasion meals there over 35 years ago. The fellow serving the water was pretty careless and managed to spill 2 out of our 5 glasses on the table cloth, but that aside, everything else was just plain wonderful!
This is the second time we had dinner at Harrah's Steakhouse and it was fabulous. The food is delicious and the servers are very attentive. If you enjoy steak, they have the best. The offer different selections of fish and they are all wonderful. It's a very classy restaurant. They also offer early bird dinners which are less expensive and just as delicious.
My best dining experience yet! Loved the lemon sorbet with champagne to clean the palet, the chocolates on dry ice, the Caesar salad made at the table and the best ever Dining Room Captain Tommy Loonkaw! He made the evening so much fun. The other wait staff were also super attentive. I can't wait to go back!
We've been going to Harrah's for years and have always loved it. And we can understand that every restaurant has its off nights. But, Harrah's has really gone downhill. The last 5 times or so that we've been there over the last 2-3 years things just suck. The service is bad with ego-centric waiters, the food is terrible and low quality. I think we've gone our last time. And many other people that we know who have loved the place in the past are sharing the same sentiments with us. This is sad! Apparently no one is really in charge of the quality for things.
I was not impressed, my boyfriend and I both got steaks and I feel like for the price they were okay, you don’t get a lot for your money that’s for sure. Both our steaks were gray and had little to no flavor, but the service was excellent and we got seated right away for a Saturday night. I don’t think I will be trying this restaurants again though.
This is the most amazing restaurant I have ever been to. Old school, amazing steaks, impeccable service. We have dined at many 5 star steakhouses, and this by far is the best. Whenever we are in town, we make a point to dine here, and have never been disappointed.
I have been coming here periodically from Texas for over thirty years, and I have always find it to be consistent in the splendid quality of its quisine, the professionalism of its personnel, it’s ambiance, and it’s overall pwerformance. I hope it never changes. It is a treasure.
My husband and I suggested The Steakhouse to good friends who were in town for the weekend. He and I ordered cocktails at the bar while waiting for our guests. The drinks were sublime and the bartender was very helpful when we posed a number of questions to her about the downtown scene. We have eaten at The Steakhouse since the 1990's and the food is as consistently good as it was back then. The four of us snuggled inside our booth, sitting closely side-by-side. The lighting was perfect although the restaurant itself was a tad on the warm side. You cannot beat the steaks here. They are cooked to perfection. The only criticism we have is that Harrah's itself has become run-down and there seems to be deferred maintenance everywhere. This criticism does not apply to the steakhouse. Our friends loved it and we will definitely go back again.
We arrived 30min early to have a few cocktails before dinner. The Hostess working the counter turned us away because of the bar being “too busy” with 1 bartender and a lack of seating. We went across the street to have cocktails and ended up being 30 Min late to our reservation. Once we checked in the Materdee said he was going to charge us a late fee?
If it wasn’t for the Onion Soup we would have gone elsewhere. We never received an itemized bill, so we are still unsure whether or not we got charged a “late fee”.
I've been going to Harrah's Steak House for years, we always have amazing food and excellent service. Wait staff are uniformly friendly and helpful. If you want a fine dining experince at an affordable price check out the prix fixe early bird dinner.
Also the Five Onion Soup is the best soup I've ever had in my life, ever. The salad is supposed to be very good too, but I've never tried it because I won't give up a chance to have the Five Onion Soup.
Unfortunately our party of six was located near two other tables of noisy diners. One was a loud group of six mid-thirtish year old men. The other table had a foul mouthed 60 yr old drunken male with two hookers. I had to get up twice to get him to clean up his conversation. I then went to the manager who asked him to head to the bar which he did after another ten minutes.
A fine dining establishment should train their waiters to direct those customers to a table in a private room or ask them to wait outside while their meal is prepared to go.
One of our all time favorite places to go. We have never had bad service or food. They are amazing as soon as you sit down.. Very old school and just a great experience.. My go to is always Prime rib, cooked to perfection. We have been going for 4 years so have tried everything on the menu... There are no bad choices... Go relax and enjoy.....
We totally enjoyed our experience - in fact the two gentlemen with me preferred Harrah's over Atlantis!
We will be back. And BTW, chef Genna Garrett, was the real reason we were there. I met her by accident and in conversation she described the food and service and convinced me we had to go to Harrah's for this important occasion of ours!
