    This is a very cool restaurant but service needs work. We dined here last year and the same thing happened — we got seated and did not have a server for about 15 mins before we asked for someone to take our drink order. Drinks finally arrived at the table 30 mins after we sat down. Food is alright but simple fixes could’ve been addressed - beware beef Wellington is very well done but everything else was fine. They are smaller portions for the price but good plating! There’s a little bit of a timing issue between aps and entrees but I think that’s just a part of this restaurant. It is a beautiful setting to look at the lake and a gorgeous dining room!

    This was the perfect place for our anniversary. Our waiter, Ignacio, was excellent - friendly, polite, excellent recommendations. The view was beautiful as we watched the last bit of the sunset and every course of the meal was delicious.

    The Statehouse continues to have the best view of any Madison restaurant even on dark Fall evening. Second only to the view is the service. We've eaten there a number of times and always had good wait staff. Last night was the best ever. Our waiter was attentive, gracious, and charming. The food, like during each visit, is just OK. There are a number of other restaurants with much better food. As noted before, the "breadboard" is, at best goofy. We live in Wisconsin. Butter does not need to be anything but butter. Trying to make it fancy diminishes the food experience. The rest of our meal was tasty, but nothing really special. Given the view and the service, however, we will return knowing that the food will be at best just OK.

    Service a bit fragmented. We had 4 different people and the initial 3 bills were incorrect. Waited 45 min for the manager to correct it and finally went up to our room because we were tired of waiting. The initial server eventually Called me in the room and got it all straightened out. I don’t think our experience is typical. At least I hope not.

    They were out of 3 of the main entrees (it was 6:15 on a Saturday). It was freezing cold and very loud. Just unimpressed!

    Great food and great service in a wonderful setting. We had Statehouse Filet and Amish Chicken, started with Caesar Salad. Glass of Riesling wine made for a wonderful evening.

    We visited The Statehouse before attending a show at the Overture Center. From the moment we walked in the venue, food, and staff were fantastic. Our waiter, Felix, helped s choose a few appetizers and they were all delicious. We'll be back again soon, I look forward to having a full meal at my next visit.

    This was my third time at Statehouse. The first 2 times .... the food was so good it has been the only place I have wanted to eat when I visit Madison. This time, it was really disappointing. The mushrooms on the mushroom bruschetta were undercooked. The salads were "so-so" compared to sublime in previous visits. My son's caesar seemed more like iceberg than romaine. My salad was cold and overdressed and the toasted nuts were chopped so small it was hard to appreciate them. My son's steak was rare, very rare when we he ordered medium rare. My salmon was overcooked. For what I had thought was a top notch restaurant and every single dish was perfect on previous visits, on this visit, every singly dish disappointed. Our server was nice, but I think this was out of her control. The drinks took a long time to come and the food came almost too fast.

    The Statehouse is one of my favorite places to dine in Madison. The service is always excellent, the food is great, and the view is beautiful. They recently added a few things to their menu. As always, we had a wonderful experience.

    Food, wine, drinks were excellent. Our server Luis did an exceptional job and made our family event even more special. Our family is making memories with matriarch, 89 years old, of the family.     The Statehouse is a must every time we are in Madison. As usual, the food was excellent. They only disappointment was the service - it took 20 minutes for the server to first approach the table. Once he engaged with us, he seemed uninformed, hurried and aloof. Hopefully this is an isolated incident. The location, food, and scene are excellent. We will be back - and hope for a better service experience.

    We had a wonderful dining experience at the Statehouse! We drove there from Dubuque IA to celebrate our 65th wedding anniversary. The Edgewater is where we began our married life together and we were reliving memories. Of course, we did not recognize the dining areas as so much has changed but the food, drinks, service were absolutely wonderful last night! At ages 91 and 85 we are so blessed to still be able to celebrate together! The Pearces

    Three of the 5 dinners we ordered last night were sub-par. We sent back a strip steak that was ordered medium rare and came over well done—dry, gray, and dusty. Fortunately, our server took the charge off our bill. I was embarrassed to learn today, however, that the two salmon dinners were received cold. Our guests were too polite to say anything while we were at the table, but I was totally embarrassed, as they had come from out of town and we were celebrating two birthdays. To top it off, there appears to be no way to talk to a real person when calling. You get a whole series of voice messages, even when you "press 0 for personal assistance," and then it leaves you at a dead end. SO annoying. The view is magnificent and the drinks were good, but I doubt we will be eating there again.
