   Beautiful venue and decoration. It was a gorgeous sunny day and wish I was outside but being inside was equally as lovely. The never had plenty of choices and additional specials. They also catered for children. I’d highly recommend and will return.

   3rd visit for us this year, always good to be fair. Todays full English breakfast was terrible, I asked for no mushrooms it came with a huge one right on top of everything else, eggs came un seasoned and no salt and pepper on the table, bacon and sausage were cold I assume Sat on the plate a while before the eggs came as they were hot. Sausage was undercooked a lot of fat poured out after I cut into it. Black pudding was hard and inedible totally left that bit. Tried to get hold have staff but they were far too busy to reply to me asking for attention. Great service and I do mean great in the past! My food today was terrible. Guy taking the payments just kind of shrugged, I paid and left. Daughter’s ice cream croissant was awesome! Great idea!

   A Wednesday evening at 6.30 and The Star Inn in The City was busy, we’d booked ahead, though local, to celebrate 50 years to the day since our first date. Lovely welcome and our waitress Lumi was so very nice, attentive and helpful. The meals which we chose were all delicious and really tasty we each had a Large Yorkshire pudding starters with extremely tasty vegetarian vegetable based gravy. My wife then had the 5 bean Ragu which she said was excellent, I had the pan fried bass with muscles which was fantastic and we shared a side order of baby carrots and green beans. The available wine choices were very good we enjoyed a starter of a gloss of Prosecco each then my wife had a glass of Pinot Grigio whilst I had a glass of Viognier. The desert list was a challenge, so much to choose from and we were already well fed. We settled on sharing the very tasty rhubarb and almond tart followed by coffees. An extremely enjoyable and memorable evening out.

   As always, everything was fabulous. The food was superb and the service was excellent. Every time I go, I seem to be seated at one of Katy’s tables and she’s just great. She takes the whole experience up to another level. Nothing is too much trouble for her and I love that she always has a laugh and a joke with us whenever I go.

   Roast beef diner very disappointing for £26p/p Unable to cut reheated potatoes and Yorkshire pud with a steak knife!! Food was Luke warm! Staff extremely stressed and struggling to cope with the volume of people! We usually love this restaurant and like to treat ourselves on special occasions. Yesterday’s experience was certainly not great. We didn’t like to complain at the time as the staff looked close to breaking point. Fortunately I checked our bill as we had additional items added that were not ours. Think this was due to the ratio of covers to staff! Don’t take so many bookings if you cannot provide your usual quality of food and service! So disappointed. Don’t think we shall be visiting again for a long time. Will give Roots a try next time!

   When choosing to go for a premium roast dinner you would expect to be having that wow taste experience but unfortunately for the price that’s not what we got, the roast potato’s were over cooked and dry in the centre along with the Yorkshire, the pork was succulent and the crackling was superb and the veg was exceptional.
