   Roast beef diner very disappointing for £26p/p Unable to cut reheated potatoes and Yorkshire pud with a steak knife!! Food was Luke warm! Staff extremely stressed and struggling to cope with the volume of people! We usually love this restaurant and like to treat ourselves on special occasions. Yesterday’s experience was certainly not great. We didn’t like to complain at the time as the staff looked close to breaking point. Fortunately I checked our bill as we had additional items added that were not ours. Think this was due to the ratio of covers to staff! Don’t take so many bookings if you cannot provide your usual quality of food and service! So disappointed. Don’t think we shall be visiting again for a long time. Will give Roots a try next time!

   When choosing to go for a premium roast dinner you would expect to be having that wow taste experience but unfortunately for the price that’s not what we got, the roast potato’s were over cooked and dry in the centre along with the Yorkshire, the pork was succulent and the crackling was superb and the veg was exceptional.

   Great location. The desserts we had were excellent. Everything else was a bit hit and miss. Fine for casual dining but not for something special.

   Great choice of different meals. I had the duck which was delicious. The location is wonderful. The Marlborough Sauvignon was expensive but good.

   Poor welcome, initial service was poor, slow delivery of drink order, wine not sufficiently chilled , waitress dower. We asked for an outside table , told none available, noticed there was free tables asked again and eventually given access to the free table. One main ( Ox cheek) arrived and was inedible mush , manager tried to justify but then replaced

   Food as good as always. Bit of a mix up with my order but the lovely waitress saved the day !

    Beautiful evening meal in York. We dined from the al La Carte menu & we’re not disappointed. Finished the evening with a cocktail overlooking the river.
