We took our son and his wife out to dinner in appreciation. His wife chose the Standard, even though he wanted outside dining. We were very happy to see the patio area open. We had a wonderful dinner outside on a beautiful evening. Our food was excellent and our Waitress was also excellent. Even the Hostess who sat us was very accommodating and pleasant. Overall it was a wonderful dinner.
Three out of four of us ordered hamburgers. Took forever to get our food and they arrived completely overdone...they were supposed to be medium rare. Took quite awhile to get server back to complain, had to ask another server to find her. She offered to replace them but we were going to the movies and we didn't have that option. Manager came over and "discounted" the price of burgers on our bill. They were the most tasteless, dry hamburgers ever. They should have not billed us for them at all. For that reason we will not be returning to the Standard Restaurant. Very poor customer service.
We were there for a business lunch. The food was very good, the restaurant was quiet and comfortable for business conversation. I would definitely go back.
Tara, our server, was friendly and attentive. We both ordered the cobb salad, and it was great! We ended up taking a to-go box home because there was enough for two meals. We also split the appetizer sampler, which came with 3 types of rolls (southwest, potato, buffalo chicken) and spinach artichoke dip. All were very good. I like this place!
Food is great every time we go!!! We don’t live close but every time we go to Albany we eat at The Standard. Honestly we can’t wait to go back again and again.
Excellent restaurant, great food. Can't wait to go back.
Excellent experience. The service, food and ambience were exceptional.
Great atmosphere, food and service at fair prices. Totally Enjoyed it!
Food was good and had a good time. Asked the waiter to split the bill- which he did. He put an extra drink on someone’s bill by accident and questioned everyone at the table about who’s drink it was. When he came to me he told me that I had two drinks, which I only had one, and kept telling me that I was lying. Extremely rude waiter, I have never been told that I was lying at a restaurant EVER. It was unacceptable. For a $9 drink he should have just taken it off of the bill rather than insulting everyone at my table. Would not recommend!!!!!!!
I’ve been there before, but thought I’d treat my sister, who’s never been there, for mother’s day brunch, the hot food was cold and she was not impressed and neither was I. The front door was open which invited bugs in, one of which kept flying around our table.
The Standard hosted Mother’s Day brunch but the food was cold at 3:00 pm setting. When I checked a few weeks ago they stated the brunch would conclude at 2:00 pm and I expected a regular dinner service but not the case when I arrived.
I was disappointed. This was not my typical Standard experience.
The food should have been kept warm at least and fresh. The desserts were dried out and the door was wide opened chilling the food.
I won’t do Mother’s Day there again. And I was charged an exorbitant amount for COLD food, dried out dessert, and lack of freshness.
Mother’s Day brunch! It was lovely.
Been to Standard many times and dinner is always amazing. Went there for Mother's Day brunch and it was very disappointing. Almost everything tasted like it was picked up from a local supermarket; desserts, meatballs, pastries, meatloaf etc. Food selections were very odd. There wasn't one thing I enjoyed at the dessert table, the coffee cake & finger desserts were dried out and definitely purchased. The only think I really enjoyed was the salads. Definitely won't be back for brunch.
The Mother's Day brunch was a huge hit with all 6 of us, plenty of great options for everyone, no waiting, and the food was wonderful. Can't wait until next year!
My fiances first time, it was good, he enjoyed it.
We love date nights at the Standard. The one and only thing that my boyfriend always comments on is how cold the butter is. He wishes it was easier to spread on his bread. Other than that the food is always delicious!
The Standard has always delivered good food (large menu choices) at reasonable prices. Convenient location in the mall. Was seated immediately with open table reservation.
The staff greeted us in a warm welcoming manner. Our waitress was professional and friendly. She made sure everything was to our liking. The choices on the menu were varied. The food was delivered promptly and arranged nicely. The soup was the appropriate temperature and the salad was cool and fresh.
It was a celebration of my retirement ... they put us in a back room that was clearly for a special party of 30 obnoxious loud in considerate people .the manager said they are not suppose to have special parties on a Saturday night but they did We were offered to be moved our food had just come ... all we wanted to do is eat and get out. I believe some type of compensation other than a free app card for a next visit was given to us ... it was just aweful it left a very bad taste in my mouth and probably won’t ever return ... I’m sure they really don’t care since they did nothing to compensate us we were paying customers too very disappointed
My friend and I both had stickers on the apples that were in our salads. We told the server and he was unphased. Makes you think the produce may not have been washed.
The Standard has become one of my “go-to” places when I’m at Crossgates Mall in Albany, NY. The iconic old movies decor is fun and “camp”, the service is quick and friendly, and the food is excellent! The menu is varied enough to please everyone and the quality and freshness of the ingredients is noticeable. Order the French onion soup. It’s the best!
Their bread is to die for. I usually have the parmesan crusted opera salad which is great, but this time I had the rigatoni marsala, which was also awesome. My husband and friends all liked their entrees very much also. Desserts looked amazing but I had no room. Next time I'll have to plan better, or eat dessert first!
First time I ever really had a bad experience here. I ordered a blue cheese crusted filet, which was ok but I've had it so much better prepared in the past. The meat was at the proper doneness but lacked a good hard sear and the blue cheese crust wasn't very crusty, just a little warm. My SO had a French Onion Burger, which was so drippy with grease it completely sogged out her bun, and her side of fries had that sort of weird taste you get when you're eating fried food that had been freezerburned in storage.
Our waitress wasn't the most attentive and a little lacking in social skills. Placed the menus in front of us then immediately asked what we wanted to drink...when we didn't answer immediately, she said, "two waters, then" and walked away. Took a while to get our drink orders in. When our meal was finished, she cleared our plates and walked away. Walked by our table three or four times (ignoring us trying to signal her) before coming to the table and depositing our check, not even bothering to ask if wanted coffee or dessert.
Again, this is the first time I've ever been disappointed eating here, but it was a misfire on almost every level.
Good portion size, great food, great service. Clean venue.
Great service and really good food!
Great service! Definitely would come back. I would suggest adding chicken Alfredo and crab Mac and cheese to the menu tho.
Love the standard. Wish there was a low lighting/quiet table for romantic dinners with less foot traffic. Always happy to have Holana as our server. Unless I didn't see it, wasn't able to request a special table/booth when booking on line. Please add Honey Jack Daniels. Great place.
The Standard is usually good to very good. Not so great today. The chicken was over cooked. The calamari was off. Just it a great meal.
We come here a lot. This was our first time with this particular waiter. Not sure why but a vegetable did not come with the meal he told us, so a $30 steak with a separate cone of French fries left the plate pretty barren and unappealing. Even some garnish would have helped. Also, we were asked for identification for our drinks, which was bizarre given I am over 50 and undoubtedly look it. I can appreciate the need to check, but it was honestly absurd, especially with a teenage child dining with us. One of our two drinks ordered at the table left about 1/4 of the glass empty. I mentioned it to the waiter that we were shorted (and on a mixed drink that's significant) and he didn't seem to care.
Food quality was good as usual, but service during this visit was disappointing. Hopefully we don't get this waiter again.
Went here for lunch with a friend. The waitress we had was terrible. We had to keep flagging her down and calling her over (from the counter she was leaning on about 10 feet from us) to ask for more drinks, napkins, water, to place our order, etc.) she was not the least bit attentive nor apologetic. The restaurant was very slow for what we would have expected for a rainy Sunday afternoon. We ordered two rounds of mimosas, which were $8 a piece (ridiculous!), and they took over twenty minutes to arrive each time (again, the restaurant was mostly empty). Our appetizer took 30 minutes to arrive after ordering it. We ordered a total of 4 mimosas, a shared egg roll appetizer, and 2 "lunch portion" salads, and the bill came to $78 before tip. The food was not well executed: the egg rolls were soggy, the mandarin chicken salad was served on a bed of iceberg lettuce with canned mandarin oranges, and a big pile of Styrofoam-consistency "noodles" on top...for $11 for a "half" portion of salad-- no, thank you. I have been here several times, but each time we go there the service and food are worse than the time before. I will not be back. Please remind your waitstaff that they are there being paid to do a job, and that me asking for more water should not involve an eye roll or a sigh. For the prices this place charges, I will gladly take my business elsewhere to get better food for less money and with better service.
Everything is terrific but our favorites are the Seared “Dry-Packed” Sea Scallops and the Bang Bang Thai Shrimp
Another great visit. Seafood meal was outstanding. We waited a bit longer than usual for a table, but it was very crowded. Our favorite waitress was tending bar, but we were lucky enough to at least have her make our drinks, which were the best we've had in a long time.
we continue to go to the standard for dinners..sometimes it is better than others..this time the food was served hot, however some of the food items listed in the menu for both of our dishes were very sparse..the kitchen should be made aware of this oversight so that the consistency of the preparation of each dish is appropriate (example..i had only 2 mushrooms and limited sauce, which i had to ask for more and my husband had very little broccoli in his dish)..obviously the ingredients make the dish!..the bread is always great..the coffee is alittle weak..our tira mi su was very good and this time the piece was a decent and acceptable size for the price compared to our last piece..i truly hope the managing staff will address these issues and stay on top of it..we will return
The food was good, but pricey. We waited 20 minutes with a reservation. At first, the service was slow, as they couldn't seem to get the correct number of chairs and silverware. But after that, the service was good. Nothing special... probably won't go back for awhile.
Our experience was overall pretty good. The food was very good and the specialty drinks were awesome. My only complaint...waitress was pretty much non exisistent. We had to tell another waiter that the check was all set so we could leave because we waited for over 10 minutes for her to come back. We were there for about 10 minutes before I got her attention to take our drink order. Was a little frustrating.
The food was great. The only problem was cold mash potatos and over cooked asparagus but it was corrected woth no problem at. Will definately recommend this fine dining to others
Great service, excellent food, didn't wait long to be seated for busy Valentine's day
First time coming to the standard, was for a date on Valentine’s Day and I couldn’t have been happier with the everything. The food was delicious and came out in a good amount of time. Service was excellent. Would definitely come again and recommend to people
Food was out of this world and the waitress Samantha was outstanding!
