We come here a lot. This was our first time with this particular waiter. Not sure why but a vegetable did not come with the meal he told us, so a $30 steak with a separate cone of French fries left the plate pretty barren and unappealing. Even some garnish would have helped. Also, we were asked for identification for our drinks, which was bizarre given I am over 50 and undoubtedly look it. I can appreciate the need to check, but it was honestly absurd, especially with a teenage child dining with us. One of our two drinks ordered at the table left about 1/4 of the glass empty. I mentioned it to the waiter that we were shorted (and on a mixed drink that's significant) and he didn't seem to care.
Food quality was good as usual, but service during this visit was disappointing. Hopefully we don't get this waiter again.
Went here for lunch with a friend. The waitress we had was terrible. We had to keep flagging her down and calling her over (from the counter she was leaning on about 10 feet from us) to ask for more drinks, napkins, water, to place our order, etc.) she was not the least bit attentive nor apologetic. The restaurant was very slow for what we would have expected for a rainy Sunday afternoon. We ordered two rounds of mimosas, which were $8 a piece (ridiculous!), and they took over twenty minutes to arrive each time (again, the restaurant was mostly empty). Our appetizer took 30 minutes to arrive after ordering it. We ordered a total of 4 mimosas, a shared egg roll appetizer, and 2 "lunch portion" salads, and the bill came to $78 before tip. The food was not well executed: the egg rolls were soggy, the mandarin chicken salad was served on a bed of iceberg lettuce with canned mandarin oranges, and a big pile of Styrofoam-consistency "noodles" on top...for $11 for a "half" portion of salad-- no, thank you. I have been here several times, but each time we go there the service and food are worse than the time before. I will not be back. Please remind your waitstaff that they are there being paid to do a job, and that me asking for more water should not involve an eye roll or a sigh. For the prices this place charges, I will gladly take my business elsewhere to get better food for less money and with better service.
Another great visit. Seafood meal was outstanding. We waited a bit longer than usual for a table, but it was very crowded. Our favorite waitress was tending bar, but we were lucky enough to at least have her make our drinks, which were the best we've had in a long time.
we continue to go to the standard for dinners..sometimes it is better than others..this time the food was served hot, however some of the food items listed in the menu for both of our dishes were very sparse..the kitchen should be made aware of this oversight so that the consistency of the preparation of each dish is appropriate (example..i had only 2 mushrooms and limited sauce, which i had to ask for more and my husband had very little broccoli in his dish)..obviously the ingredients make the dish!..the bread is always great..the coffee is alittle weak..our tira mi su was very good and this time the piece was a decent and acceptable size for the price compared to our last piece..i truly hope the managing staff will address these issues and stay on top of it..we will return
The food was good, but pricey. We waited 20 minutes with a reservation. At first, the service was slow, as they couldn't seem to get the correct number of chairs and silverware. But after that, the service was good. Nothing special... probably won't go back for awhile.
Our experience was overall pretty good. The food was very good and the specialty drinks were awesome. My only complaint...waitress was pretty much non exisistent. We had to tell another waiter that the check was all set so we could leave because we waited for over 10 minutes for her to come back. We were there for about 10 minutes before I got her attention to take our drink order. Was a little frustrating.
The food was great. The only problem was cold mash potatos and over cooked asparagus but it was corrected woth no problem at. Will definately recommend this fine dining to others
Great service, excellent food, didn't wait long to be seated for busy Valentine's day
First time coming to the standard, was for a date on Valentine’s Day and I couldn’t have been happier with the everything. The food was delicious and came out in a good amount of time. Service was excellent. Would definitely come again and recommend to people
Food was out of this world and the waitress Samantha was outstanding!
Server was efficient, available and polite. Coffee served was luke warm. I ordered a NY Strip and it was tough and tasteless, so bad I had to send it back and ordered the Sea Bass which was good but again not suffiently . In fact many of the dishes were not served sufficiently hot. Overall mediocre and not worth the high prices.
I will likely not return.
Everything was terrible about this place. The server was the absolute worst. Definitely will not be coming here ever again.
It’s was great, the wait was a little long but that’s because it’s very popular. Our waitress was awesome.
Great using reservation app as table was ready when we arrived. Food and service excellent!
The food was delicious and we all really had a great time. We had a great booth and the waiter was very friendly. The waiter just didn’t space out our meals. So we were still eating the appetizers when our food arrived. Other than that the food was excellent. The French onion soup was top notch!
One of my favorite places to eat with friends. Came with a party of 10 and we all had a great time. Some members of our party had never been there, but loved it and made plans to come back.
Quick seating on a Saturday night. Very friendly server. Food was very good as well as menu choices.
Excellent food. Service was very accommodating and responsive. Needed to make a show in 45 minutes
My all time favorite..food is excellent and the service is great!
Standard was perfect for an after opera meeting place with the rest of the family. We have always enjoyed our meals here. It's in the mall, but doesn't feel like it. The staff is extremely accommodating (we brought our own cake, and someone started off by spilling his water all over), the menu has something for everyone, and the food is consistently good. There is a lively bar scene for those who might be interested, but the space is large enough to accommodate both families, and us older folks so everyone feels comfortable.
This restaurant used to have pretty decent food, and was always a good option in the mall, but the last 3 times I’ve been there (this trip included the food and service were abysmal).
This trip I ordered the french onion soup which was completely flavorless it just tasted like hot water in a cup. We both got salads, neither were very good, mine was full of chewy/fatty chicken.
Our server never brought me any bread, waters were never refilled, and the soup was brought out sans spoon but the waitress didn’t come back to the table for about 15 mins after dropping off the soup. She then said “yeah you probably want a spoon”.
To top it off I used the bathroom on the way out and it was incredibly dirty.
The food, as always was very good. Service, however was slow. I will however return.
Always good. I recommend the salmon salad - hot or cold.
Always great! Love the vegie burger, lobster soup.... Only item that was not the greatest was the chicken, seemed a little chewier. Thanks
We were seated immediately. Great service. Friendly waitstaff. Excellent food. Best N.Y. strip steak
The Standard is one of our favorites. Great atmosphere, great food, great service and good value for your meal. Highly recommend!
Gabrielle was our server and was very attentive and friendly, she accommodated our every need. We were seated promptly, however we did feel a cold draft at times, I think because we were pretty close to the outside door. The only thing that was a little disappointing were the soups. My mom ordered the lobster bisque which she enjoyed after they brought her a hot one, the first cup was luke warm. I ordered the French onion soup and it was hot, however it was lacking some flavor in the broth. We were both very happy with our entrees, the scallops and shrimp scampi. Both were cooked to perfection! Overall a great experience!
we have been patrons of the standard in albany ny for a long time..unfortunately the quality of the food is getting less and less! (both of our meatloaf stack dinners including the gravy were sub-par from previous times.. way too much pepper(?) in the meat and the gravy was gelatinous! (turned into jello!)..too many cutting corners!..the manager should strongly heed these types of reviews and make some positive changes back to the way the food was with other managers in charge..also, this time the tira mi su dessert gave us very unpleasant stomach issues!..is it food storage? improper handling? or faulty preparation?..hopefully no one else suffered from this..the standard was our most favorite places to eat,as for others as well..even though you,the standard, are not hurting for business,PLEASE MAKE SOME FOOD QUALITY IMPROVEMENTS!!
Our waitress was MacKenzie (spelling?) at 9:00 p.m. on 12-31-17 at the Standard in Colonie Center was wonderful. She had the knack of being attentive but not being overbearing. She was friendly and efficient. She made it a pleasurable experience.
Service was terrible ! Waited at table for 15 min after being seated had to flag down a bus boy to find us a server. Poor execution on every level of service.
Awesome drinks, food, and ambiance!! Perfect for groups or a romantic dinner.
Met our good friends for lunch and we had a great time and good food.
I used Open Table to make a reservation for 8. When I arrived, two in the party were seated. When the rest of the party subsequently showed up, my reservation disappeared and they were left to either wander the restaurant or text us to find us. Unacceptable!
Great appetizers! Friendly, timely service. Will definitely go back to try other dishes.
Great food and service, always a top choice for dining in the Guidlerland area!
Based on this dining experience we will not be returning to The Standard any time soon (if ever). There were 6 of us in our monthly get together. Three ordered soup as an appetizer and it was delivered in a reasonable time period and they were good tasting. It took almost an hour for our entries to be delivered after the soup course and only 5 entrees were delivered (one entree which included soup had no spoon with the entree). We expected the sixth to be delivered quickly but it did not arrive. Our waitress did not check on us for about 15 minutes and we still did not have the sixth person's entree. We had to notify the hostess, who was seating another party that 15 minutes had gone by with no entree. We then also notified our waitress and she went to check. She returned with an excuse that she was not notified that the sixth dish had to be redone and it would be a few minutes (actually I do not think they even knew it was missing until we notified her 15 minutes after the other 5 had been delivered). What is most disturbing is that the manager did not even see it necessary to come by to apologize or ask if there was anything they could do.
Coconut shrimp was excellent. Loved atmosphere and will definitely go again when in Albany. Looking forward to trying some of the cocktails.
always a delightful experience! The Staff was accommodating and interested in our needs.
Very sophisticated ambiance excellent menu selections in a need to be honest, although we would still recommend The Standard it appears to be a place for conversation but much too noisy the menu selections and the plating and the accompaniments in generous portions very appealing we were not that impresssed by our fish dishes, sea bass and mahi mahi we would give it another chance because of all th epositives especially the excellent service wonderful waitress Mackenzie
