Amazing food and wine flights! Everything was fantastic.
The air conditioner was not working well. Too warm to enjoy the ambience. Requested they turn AC up but they said it was broken.
The air conditioning was not working. I really wish they had alerted us prior to arrival.
We went for Father's Day which was very well done by the restaurant. We brought our teenage son and he was able to order from the kids menu. Although there were younger children there this was a very calm and quiet restaurant. The food was amazing. We had the charcuterie which was wonderful, the foie gras blt , the surf & turf and the scallops. All were very good.
We were quite disappointed with our food. I had the rack of lamb, and the meat was scarce, way more fat then I am used to on rack of lamb. Two of the people had the trout at our table, and they were really disappointed with the description on the menu, since they said it was a sauce that tasted like hoisin with no reference to that. One of the gals who ate the trout loves your restaurant but said it was the worse entree she ever had there.
Great food! Outstanding service! The menu has gotten more varietal and the preparations are unique and interesting. The wine list is fabulous. One of our favorites.
Once again, we have found a really enjoyable restaurant. The food and service were
quite good and I definitely recommend The Stained Glass for an evening out for a good meal .
Excellent selection of wines by the glass and an amazing menu to select from. We started with butter lettuce salad, deviled eggs and diver scallops and had scrumptious chicken and dumplings and scallops as entrees. Monk fish was regrettably a little tough and fishy tasting, cut way to thick to cook right and taste good. Other entrees were outstanding. Have the donuts for dessert--drop dead good.
Recommend everyone who would like to celebrate their anniversaries.
Great place for that special occasion!
Upscale option in Evanston; one of about 3 or 4 singled out by locals. Professional and efficient service. Casual vibe. Interesting / engaging "New American" style menu with nice wine list & wine flight options. Well prepared dishes, but will not knock your socks off. Would return if back in town (out-of-town visitor) or go to other options in same restaurant group.
The food was excellent. I brought out of town guests there and they were very pleased with the food. We ordered the trout and the duck for our entrees, both excellent. The crab cake is really good too. If you haven't been - I highly recommend it.
Great food. I have the trout and it was more than I expected. Menu descriptions don't do the flavors justice.
The atmosphere was quiet and private. The waitstaff was courteous and upbeat. The waiters did not constantly come around and ask how the food was. And they gave us a free dessert for the birthday boy. We love this place. I highly recommend it. The duck… OMG!!!
A good experience!
This has been in Evanston for many years. It continues to be very popular for good reason- great food and service.
Birthday dinner. Went really well and good was great. Service was great.
I have been to this restaurant a couple of times. This time, we were a party of four at 6:00 p.m. on Mothers’ Day, so I expect the restaurant staff had been going full-speed for brunches, etc, all day. This had to stress the kitchen and wait-staff.
I short, my entrée was not as ordered, the staff was very solicitous, and I ate it anyway. Then they ran out of the desert I ordered. Not happy.
Try to go on a day other than Mothers’ day.
The space was very small and very loud. The appetizers were good, 2 of the 3 entrees did not live up to their descriptions in the menu. All three deserts were not very good at all. The creme brulees had no flavor, my doughnuts were very chewy.
Double date, excellent food, half price bottles of Pomerol and Burgundy. Excellent as usual.
We had a party of 7 to celebrate a college graduation. and I'm afraid they were a bit loud. I hope their excitement didn't disturb others .
The food, wine, drinks et al were excellent and the service superb.
The food was amazing! We had surf & turf, rack of lamb, scallops and ravioli. We all enjoyed our dishes. The wine flights were a fun way to start off the evening and the chocolate cake was a delicious way to end our meal.
I loved their foods and great service! Two thumbs up!
The Stained Glass was phenomenal. Really enjoyed the place, the food, the wine and overall ambiente
Our dinners and the wine were very good, but the dessert was a disappointment. They were out of the panne cotta so shared the trio of creme brûlée. Aside from the orange rind topping on one, all three items lacked flavor and the texture was that of something that had been made several days earlier and refrigerated.
The whitefish and the wine and the waitress all were outstanding. So when you have the 3 key Ws what else do you need? Nothing!
Fabulous meal, wine and wait staff! Beautiful, lovely evening!
Super gourmet, beautiful interior, great mixology, pro friendly service. We both loved it.
As always, before dinner cocktail was the best, but my partner’s steak/lobster mac n cheese left much to be desired.
Very good food. Limited menu. Service was outstanding.
Everything we tasted was delicious and presentations were lovely. We had crab cake, soup and salads for appetizers, tuna and chicken for entrees and skipped dessert because we were rushing to a movie. They had half price bottles of wine and the Syrah was wonderful. We will definitely be back!
Good overall experience, felt a tad bit rushed to order. But otherwise food & service were excellent. Strip steak, tuna, chicken entrees were enjoyed. Crab cakes were also great appetizers. Drinks - excellent. A nice atmosphere, but quite expensive.
Easter Brunch was a great value. Nice food and selection in a nice atmosphere.
Amazing Easter brunch! Carving station and desserts were out of this world and who does not love a complimentary mimosa or bloody mary?
Went for Easter brunch. Everything was outstanding. Will definitely go back for dinner.
It used to be a GREAT restaurant, but the food quality has slipped since I was last there.
The artichoke appetizer was flavorful, as was the duck but the squash risotto was bland and topped by bell peppers whose only flavor was vinegar.
They gave us our choice of dessert as it was our anniversary which was a nice touch. That said, while the flavor of the cheesecake was yummy... it was cake and not cheesecake.
1/2 price wine on a Friday night made the meal much more reasonably priced, given that we only ate the artichoke and the duck entree.
While I will still go back, my partner did say to me "I won't go back".
Could not have been better.
Delicious food and fantastic service! This is a real Evanston gem!
Staff was very welcoming and the food was great. Our waitress was kind and paid attention to all our requests and made good recommendations.
