The Springs, in Los Angeles, California, is the place to go when looking for a place to grab a healthy breakfast or lunch. Found in a wellness center, this is a great place to grab a bite after taking one of the many wellness and yoga classes they offer. The meals at The Springs are all mostly vegan and gluten-free and created from local, organic resources. Raw options are also available.
The options at The Spring are sure to please anyone's taste buds. For breakfast enjoy items like smashed avocado toast, marble chia pudding or a platter that has eggs, mushroom bacon, onions and foccacia. Lunch options vary between wraps, salads and items like the forbidden fried rice bowl which has black rice, kimchi, kale, shitake and a miso paste. Don't think healthy means you can't have dessert. Enjoy some seasonal sorbet to top off your meal.
Dinner: Sunday-Thursday 5:00pm-11:00pm
The Springs is really worth the trip! Very creative chef serves incredible raw and vegan dishes that are complex, interesting and not too heavy. Some raw food can be too rich, but the Springs has the perfect balance of fresh crisp ingredients and savory spices, flavors and textures. The service was great, and the food goes well with some of the craft brews on tap or the nice selection of wines.
The food is scrumptious at The Springs. It's truly a delicious experience. The beet tartare is not to be missed. We loved the spaghetti, paella and the ravioli. The strawberry shortcake was delectable. The staff are wonderful, the wine was perfection, the environment and atmosphere is incredible, and the live band was really great. It's a gem in the Arts district! I'd go back again and again.
Overall, fantastic experience. Probably not ideal for a first date, because the (great) live music got really loud around 7:30/8PM, but the food was fantastic and the overall vibe was very cool. Will definitely be going back.
For vegan food you will not find more inventive. Go early and you can park in the lot (Sunday around 6). There were not enough servers. Our waitress was less than helpful and got caught up in some wine tasting while we were trying to leave before the music started. The house wine special blend is a red wine served COLD. It is not described as such on the wine list nor did our waitress warn us of that. I thought it was OK. My wife did not. This place is expensive, and that sure isn't warranted by the portion size (except the salads are generous but still moderate). There is a distraction in the help which on a Sunday was unwarranted and disturbing.
Service is surly and slow. Wait staff has major attitude which is too hip and not friendly.
Specifically told the server we had a performance to make.. Food came out 40 minutes later with only 10 minutes to the time we had to leave. Server blamed the kitchen.
Fantastic find! Absolutely loved the watermelon gazpacho, the coconut yogurt parfait, and chocolate pudding. Can't wait to return to try some of the unusual items on the menu. Love that they use all natural and healthy ingredients. A big plus is a small parking lot.
It's great to have a fancier raw vegan option in town. We did the 7-course gourmet tasting menu for $65 per person and it was way more than 7 courses since my companion and I got different dishes half the time. We ended up tasting no fewer than a dozen items on their menu! Raw vegan isn't for everybody because nothing is served hot. Great choice for a summer evening.
Been here 7 or 8 times now. Love to bring non-vegetarians/vegans here to blow their minds. Crossroads and Gadarene Swine are also excellent places to try. But for me, The Springs seems to rise a bit above. Maybe because on most nights, they have excellent live jazz.
A lot of vegan food tries to pretend to be something else. The food at the Springs maximizes the ingredients on hand to bring them to their fullest potential. Our meal was delicious and the service was on point. They never made me feel rushed but were always there when I needed them.
If you like healthy food like me, you will love this place.
The decoration is beautiful and the space is big. The food was delicious and very exotic. You have to be open to try new flavors.
The only thing was that there was a band playing that night and it was kind of loud and it was hard to communicate with the group of people that we went.
I think they should look for some relaxing and not so loud music.
Definitely recommend this place and I want to go back for sure.
If I could eat here every day I would! To me, this is one of the best restaurants in Los Angeles. Its unbelievable what the chef can do with raw food. The flavors are complex, elegant, delicious! The fact that it is "raw" is a nice addition but the food isn't sacrificed in the effort to maintain the rawness. somehow they have been able to create absolutely delicious dishes that just happen to be raw. I have had friends who walk in, look around and think its one of the new hipster, tiny plates places. I have to tell them "NO! You have to try the (whatever)." I do not know how to overcome that except by word-of-mouth perhaps. Anyway, I LOVE THIS PLACE!
When I saw that Nick Mancinni and Afton Hefley were playing, my wife and I were excited to explore a new Downtown L.A. space. When I told her it was Vegan menu, she frowned. You should have seen her smile as the soup, appetizer and salad were consumed. Amazing wine list. Good parking (free).
Presentation is beautiful. Some of the entrees feel overpriced, but with organic foods it's probably spot on. Ask for a half salad because they are very generous portions. The tostada is quite small. Spaghetti carbonara is a delight as well as the guacamole.
Nice organic white wine and beer
The Springs does raw vegan food that is tasty and filling (that's rarer than you think). The space is gorgeous and the food is flavorful. The only challenge is the service. I sat down and ordered an iced coffee; it took 10 minutes to get it. Then it took another 10 minutes for them to deliver the almond milk that was supposed to come with it. But if you're in the mood for a long lingering lunch this is a great place to do it - they'll let you stay as long as you want.
Amazing tasting food and wonderful service.. Love be space its in and love he vibe of the place..
no one in our party of 4 was a vegan, but we all loved the meal. Portion sizes are generous, especially the salads. The staff was very friendly and helped point out particularly good dishes to try. The lunch scene is better than dinner. The big open space feels more alive during the day, and felt a little dull at night.
It was my first visit to The Springs, and what a fabulous experience !! I am always looking for cool, urban vegan places, that I can take my vegan and non-vegan friends to and this is one of the few I have found so far. The food is wonderful- raw, organic vegan and it tasted great!! And the scene was down to earth and unpretentious. I felt relaxed.. and the service was great !! Our waiter was so responsive to my friends food allergies- he took the initiative and checked on every ingredient. He really took care of us. The Springs ins in a huge warehouse loft that also has a yoga room, a shop , a wellness center and there was a fabulous live jazz band!! The bar was hoping and the clientele looked happy!! This is an LA hotspot. And all vegan!!!!! love this place.
My kale salad was missing the seaweed. I would recommend half portion. Full is overpriced.
The most notable thing about our experience was how friendly the staff was. Totally unpretentious and completely friendly and given that this is a raw vegan spot, they get extra points for that effort. The creative snacks they make as well as the delightful juice list make this a fun place to go if you are trying to be healthy, or if you want to try gourmet health food. I would like to try their massages sometime. Totally would come back here. If all health food spots could behave this way while making great creations (hummus!), LA and southern California would be a better place. Keep it going Springs!
I love this place. The flavors that they can tease out of raw vegan foods is amazing. I would go here every night if I could afford it! I recommend the kelp spaghetti or the kale caesar salad.
Best Cesar salad I've ever had. The porter beer was great, light & refreshing definitely recommend. Service was great, servers are friendly & accommodating. Great experience all together.
Very hip place! This was the first time we had gone to a raw food restaurant. And we were very impressed. A little pricey though!
Excellent dinners and juices so comfortable and fun. Great atmosphere and outstanding flavorful creations. Wish I could eat there all the time.
The salad was drenched in salad dressing. Main courses, starters and desserts were also pricey. We were hoping for more . The owner on the other-hand was very nice and did go out of his way to accommodate us.
Love the decor - urban yet comfortable and earthy. The salads are large and fresh and the staff is wonderful! I went for Thanksgiving with a 3:00 reservation, however received a call around noon telling me there was a mistake and they were actually closing at 3:00. They said they could accommodate me if I came earlier and if I could not they will stay open to serve me. Really? Who does that? I went earlier and really enjoyed a healthy holiday meal with my daughter. We topped it off with butterscotch ice cream (vegan) which was tasty. I will return!
Nice relaxing environment to enjoy vegan food. Nacho salad worth a try!
I am not a penny-pinching diner. Especially when I am vegetarian and gluten free and eat organic most of the time. I was very excited to try The Springs since it checked all my boxes. I went with a friend and we had a lovely lunch. The ambiance is great. That's where the happy song ends. The service was slow and inattentive. The hummus and falafel was yummy. We ordered the "taco" salad which was, as another reviewer noted, a ton of romaine with dressing and a spoonful of crunchy, taco-type topping. Two smoothies to top off the meal, also good. Then the check came. Wow. Again, wow. $85 for the above. Yes, I know it's unbelievable. I still can't believe it, 3 days later. I don't mind spending some money but, come on! It's hummus, lettuce and a smoothie. No alcohol, no expensive meat. What an astronomical ripoff. No lunch in the world is worth $50 a person (incl tip)
Relaxing ambience and deliciously healthy food. I only wish there was another restaurant like it where I live!
Loved the food, great vegan menu wonderful flavored. The guacamole with the homemade chips! Sat at the bar great service, will be back soon.
