The Spinnaker - Sausalito Ratings and Reviews
Loveeee this place. We have been there 5 times with big groups.
Minimum party of 10.
It is a nice restaurant with a very warmth feeling.
Excellent food, and a more excellent service!
The servers were always friendly, and warm.
We always feel welcome and well taken care of.
Perfect day to have a gorgeous view with a few baby seals swimming nearby as a bonus! A SF/Sausalito treat of a Louie Combo Salad & glass of wine. Service was great and we had THE best table for our views! Why they had the a/c on, we have no idea, Sun was out, but too chilly for a/c....and it was quiet when we arrived, but then more folks came in and it got terribly noisy! All in all, a great, tasty treat.
I hadn't been to the Spinnaker in years. I went for Valentine's Day with my "significant other" and was not disappointed. The food was delicious and the waiter outstanding. Not an everyday restaurant, but a great place for special occasions, with an amazing view.
No mistaking the view from Spinnaker is spectacular. The food, not so much. It wasn't bad, but given the price, it wasn't that good either. The waitress clearly didn't want to be there that day. She did her job, but with no enthusiasm. As we were having dessert, I overheard the waitress next to us telling her customers about a special dessert they had that day. Our waitress didn't tell us about it. The service was quick--a little too quick for our liking. I have enjoyed good meals there in the past, so hopefully, this was just an off day.
This is one of our go-to places when we have out of town guests. The view is gorgeous. We’ve taken weekend sailors to watch America’s Cup, and yesterday brought a friend escaping the frozen East Coast to enjoy our 70 degree February. Food is always excellent, service good, and valet parking helpful. We will continue to eat there. Great experiences!
Great view, mediocre food.
Flavorless sauces on our fish and scallops. Bacon not properly rendered. Prawns in the appetizer were rubbery.
You’re there for the view and it delivers in a huge way. However, was not worth the $50/person price tag - would not return.
Another wonderful visit to the Spinnaker. It is one of our favorite restaurants in the Bay Area and we are never disappointed. We started with cocktails and relaxed for a little while before ordering our lunch. We both had chowder to start which is always good and I had the filet of sole dore which was cooked perfectly. My husband also had filet of sole and he asked that it was prepared dry without any sauce and he said that it was great as usual. The view is always amazing but yesterday was a spectacularly clear day making the City look gorgeous. We watched seals playing in the Bay all during our lunch. Valet parking is so nice and the valet is always especially nice. Service was excellent and we are looking forward to our next visit!
The only good thing about this restaurant was the view. The food was horrible. For the price they were charging we expected so much more. There were only 3 tables in the entire restaurant and our food took forever to come out. My appetizer came to the table at least 15 minutes before my husband’s did. We were very disappointed that our first evening get away to Sausalito was such a negative experience in terms of our dinner choice.
I’ve been coming to the Spinnaker ever since childhood-many long years ago! It is still a lovely place to dine. There’s a wonderful menu, a gorgeous view and great service. I always bring out-of-town visitors to The Spinnaker because I know they’ll have a fantastic meal and a beautiful Sausalito experience. If you love fish, try the Sandabs or the Petrale Dore. You won’t be disappointed!
Great views and we were very excited for a special birthday celebration in a place we hadn’t experienced before. 30 minutes after we ordered, our waiter had to ask us again what my husband had ordered as the order was clearly lost so we waited a long time for our food. And when it arrived I was served the wrong item (there are two scallop dishes and I got the second one which wasn’t what I had asked for.) My kids liked their meals and the mousse cake for dessert was very good, but overall we were disappointed with both the service and the food for the price. We did enjoy the beautiful view and appreciated getting a very nice table since they knew it was a birthday!
We had a wonderful view from our table. We watched the sky change as late afternoon turned into evening. The views of SF and Sausalito and the bridges added to the enchantment of the evening. A Night Heron landed on a pile that was right outside my window. These were all visual treats. For taste treats we started with a cup of crab and tomato bisque. We all had the fish, each one of us exclaimed how tasty our meal was. The orders for desserts were varied. Mine was the very best berry trifle I have ever had. I hope it stays on the menu. Others at our table tried the cream puffs and the cream caramel. I was told that they were all wonderful. The evening was to be a celebration of several recent achievements and job advancements, one for each of us at the table. It was the perfect celebration. The waiter was just right. He was attentive but not overly so. The staff also was there with the water or coffee at the right times.
The Spinnaker hit it out of the park this time. I highly recommend trying this place.
We sat at a window and it was a sparkling night and so fun for our friends to sit and gaze at San Francisco on such an evening. The cocktails were brought to our table and we each had a delicious meal: the petrole sole was yummy as were the prawns and grilled scallops and the Spinnaker salad. We just had such a lovely time and can't wait to come back!!
The food was okay and there were many options to choose from. However the place is desperately in need of a renovation and the service was poor. The chair seats were old and cracked with material exposed, and the carpet were old and worn. When they served us our tea the cups had lipstick on the rim from another customer. I brought this to the attention of the waiter and he took my cup away but I had to ask again to give me another cup. And when it came time to pay my bill the waitress forgot to return the credit card slip for me to sign. All in all a great view but the service and décor just makes it hard to dine here again!
Usually, in my last 8 visits, I have rated everything excellent. This time, because I had to wait in bar for my guests, I noticed the rundown furniture, holes in worn out cushions. The old worn out rugs. My rice was cold. The silverware was spotted. I would think with the business you do, things would be updated by now. Sorry to be brutally honest, BUT, it has been my favorite restaurant for a long time.
I have been in the Bay Area for one week, and I am just looking to explore! I read some favorable reviews thought that I would give the restaurant a try. I was definitely a little out of my element-alone, young, underdressed-but the restaurant took great care of me! Plus the food was incredible. Great expeirence
The view from our table was spectacular. We had a full view of both the Golden Gate and Bay bridge, and the city of San Francisco. We were also able to see all of the sailboats on the bay and also a seal playing in the water. There is an extensive menu with delicious items to choose from. The service is excellent, our server was very attentive, and he paid close attention to detail and our needs. We would recommend trying the calamari appetizer, the batter was light and airy and the calamari itself was cooked to perfection. We will definitely go again.
the table was great with spectacular view. I had requested it for celebrating an 80th birthday. Thought they would bring cupcake or something but did not happen. I ordered the mixed seafood grill , supposed to have shrimp, scallops and fish, only one lonely scallop and three shrimp included. I was disappointed but the rest of the party was happy with their orders. The sea bass was excellent, will order next time.
