We had dinner on a thurs eve in the restaurant, although sitting at the bar looked fun. Bar was busy + restaurant almost full. Loved the look + feel of the restaurant. Ambiance great, food AMAZING - we had a selection of the small sharing plates - Kaya toast (delicious) creamed kale (aromatic) yellowtail (tiny and divine) scallops (melted in your mouth with an amazing sauce) followed by larger sharing plates of cereal prawns (crunchy and so tasty we fought over the last two!) And flattened chicken with mashed potatoes + gravy (good) finally dessert which was lemon mousse + simply FABULOUS! An amazing meal full of wonderful flavors, incredibly tasty combinations + we will follow them wherever they find a new home!

The Spice Table has both small and large plates which are large for a small plate place. Nonetheless- dishes were delicious and filling. Three small plates and two large left two men and one woman to full for dessert- this woman usually always has room for dessert! The scallops and duck rice were the favorites of the group as was the Pinot noir and lager.

This is a great restaraunt I have been going since the first week of operations. It is in a funky old brick building that may or may not have been a Brothel at one time. The food has always been fantastic unfortunately 12-31-2013 will be their last day as the building is being raised for a train station. The staff says they hope to reopen someplace in Santa Monica around June of 2014 and are still looking for a downtown presence but have not yet found a site

What a great venue. We really had a fantastic experience here. The crab toast in particular blew us away! I'm really sad to hear they're closing in order for the city to build a parking lot. What a shame! I'm sure the restaurant, in whatever form it ends up taking, will land on its feet and continue to impress.

Went to this restaurant with my boyfriend - our reservation was for 9pm. We were running a little late and around 9:15pm we got a call from the restaurant asking if we were still making it because the kitchen closes at 9:30pm and they wanted to make sure that we made it before that so we could order! We ended up making it and we ordered: Fried Cauliflower, Sambal Potatoes, Pepper Crab on Toast, and the Beef Rendeng. The cauliflower was my favorite (it is basically a cauliflower in a tempura batter, deep fried) and the potatoes were great as well! The crab and beef were ok, not my favorite. Overall, a really good experience. The waitress was really nice as well and very attentive.

Took my fiancee here on a busy Saturday night to celebrate our engagement that afternoon. Had made a 6:30 reservation and due toLA Traffic we did not arrive until just past 7 PM. I called the restaurant from the road explaining we were running late. Upon arrival they had held our table despite it being a busy night. Complimentary champagne and congratulations from the owner and staff despite our late arrival. Service was outstanding, matching the food. Creamed Kale with pork bellies and Black pepper crab toast were exquisite and complex. Grilled Chinese broccoli and raw yellow tail were subtle, tasty interludes before the Beef Rendang. The BF was the only large plate we ordered. It was an intricate yet hearty delight. Love this place.

We had an early reservation and weren't at our table for an inordinate amount of time. In fact, the people around us were seated before us and were still there as we exited. We ordered a bottle of wine and 5 or 6 selections from the menu. Our bill was presented to us without an offer of dessert selection. I had to ASK the server for a dessert selection (embarrassing since my father had already proffered his credit card). As we were just finishing the dessert together, the manager? (male) lurked over to pressure us further to leave. This left such a bad taste in my mouth and ruined the experience for us. You should treat the people who come to experience your restaurant better than this...

I didn't know what to expect when I went to Spice Table, but I was delighted at the quality of the food. Everything was fit for sharing, Each small dish could be split between two people, the larger ones between three. Every dish was pretty good, but two specifically were outstanding. The spare ribs were awesomely tender and flavorful. The meat fell off the bone so easily I was able to eat them with chop sticks. The best dish of the evening was the Kaya (spelling?) toast. It was two pieces of toasted bread with some kind of jam (I think it was coconut) between two slices. Then they mix slow cooked egg, white pepper, and soy sauce into an incredibly divine dipping sauce. I'd return to the restaurant just to have that again. Also good marrow.

Food was just ok. And I think I might have felt a bit better about things but we arrived at 5:20 for a 5:30 reservation, walked in and were told that they opened at 5:30. There were three employees standing at the bar and they let us STAND OUTSIDE for ten minutes instead of letting us get a drink at the bar. Honestly I was floored! !!

This is a "find" in the Little Tokyo neighborhood in that it has it's own parking, is close to the Gold Line, offers a variety of cuisine not really prevalent in this neighborhood, and an easy walk to the Music Center and Civic Center. Food was very good, having dishes with flavors that are non-traditional and fusion. Service was very good, friendly and prompt. Ambience is okay--the rooms are colorfully decorated, with high ceilings; lighting a bit low to see the menu. Great for folks who work and play downtown.

My friends have a variety of dietary restrictions, but we were all able to eat - a lot! - at Spice Table. And though upon first blush you might think items like, cauliflower, broccoli, bone marrow, eggplant might sound dour, but let me assure you that the Spice Table knows their way around spice. Each dish was layered with flavor. We left feeling very full and very satisfied. I will be back often!

A very interesting menu very well executed. Yes the prices are a bit on the high side for Asian food in LA, but not for gourmet food of this caliber. Also, I'm not sure why the complaints on Yelp about the portion sizes. Visually they're not very big, but much of the food is very rich. For two people we ordered 2 small plates and one large plate to share and had to take food home. Plus one glass of wine and one beer and tip and we were still looking at less than $40 a person. Nice space too, albeit very loud.

ok, apologies for the yo-gabba-gabba reference but it just seemed a fitting description for our meal. have read about this place for awhile and was not disappointed. everything we ordered was delicious with the exception of the fried chicken. we were a party of 4 so some of the small plates were a little too small to share but entrees were good sized portions. can't wait to go back.

The food was really delicious -- everything we tried was good. We want to come back so we can try the rest of the food. The place was kinda small, though, so it didn't feel relaxing. As far as service, there certainly was a lot of attention (e.g., refilling our glasses with water, taking away plates), but it almost felt like we were being rushed, too.

I heard lots of hype about this hot spot and decided to try it. I'm Asian and has traveled extensively all over Asia and love food. Here, the food is ok, but nothing I can't find in hole in the wall Thai, Sing, Malay etc spots for a lot cheaper. The description sounded a lot better than the execution. The satay, while tasty, portions was sad for the price and the peanut sauce tasted exactly like what I can find out of a bottle or package from ethnic supermarkets. The Chilli crab with noodles ala Singapore style was way overpriced for one very small stone crab that wasn't superfresh. The only saving grace were the desserts, both the Kiefer Lime mousse and Thai Iced Tea Soft serve were very tasty, balanced and inventive.

Two of us split the creamed kale, bone marrow, pig's tail and lamb satay. It was the right amount of food for two. The lamb satay and the bone marrow were the stand outs and both were excellent. The creamed kale was good... for kale. The pig's tail was tasty but really really fatty. I would not order it again. The service was excellent. The food came out quickly and our server was on top of our drink needs. The space itself has a lot of character although I could see the main dining room being noisy. Absolutely worth checking out if you're in downtown.

The chef Bryant NG and his wife/co-owner/front of house Kim make for a spectacular evening. The choices are such clever twists on both sophisticated and yet local Asian food, but brought down to a very approachable and accessible level. I have eaten there several times and each time is better than before. Go for the creamed kale, Kaya toast, spicy chicken livers, the fried chicken and their own Spice Table Cheeseberger. I almost hate to admit I way over order there to have a lot of different tastes. Bryant was awarded the Chef of the Year 2012 by Food and Wine Magazine and you will see why. They may have to close because the Metro line is planned to go right through their building, so hurry over there!

We enjoyed everything we had. Four dishes were enough for the two of us, because one of the four was the outstanding burger. I especially enjoyed the creamed kale with pork belly. We appreciated that you could order 4 ounce beers (or the normal larger sizes) because it allowed us to try some different things. The servers were nice, went out of their way to explain the dishes and their ingredients.

Lamb belly satay not so much. Decor dark with brick walls and curtains; although view is none existent. Fun place for groups to share many small plates and flavors. Nice selection of beer.

Been to Spice Table 4 or 5 times now and every time has been fantastic. The fatty but superbly seasoned lamb belly satays, the fried cauliflower, and the spicy and crisp potatoes are mandatory for our table every time. It is amazing how so many dishes can be so spicy but not unbearably hot. The one problem on this latest visit was the service. On a slow night the waitress was not having a good day. She didn't get everyone's drink order, then she forgot to input two of the dishes we ordered. She made up for it with a free dessert and many apologies. Still, after also visiting Lukshon, a similarly styled Asian fusion restaurant, just as often as Spice Table, I would say my appetite for both places has been satiated. On to something new...

The staff was amazing, it started with the hostess, she was friendly and attentive. Our waiter was funny and friendly. The food was overall very good. I am from Singapore and have been looking for the dish Laksa, for almost 20 years here State side. This is by far the best and closest to Laksa from home. Very well done, a must try. The Flatten chicken was moist and yum. The Crab toast was disappointing The Kaya toast needs more Kaya please and the hard boil egg would be better hot(my preference) but still very good. The noise level was appalling. Cannot hear anything other than the table next to me shouting their conversation. Overall, I am glad to have dine there, not sure if I will be back though.
