Service was too slow on this day for the restaurant to be empty. I asked for eggs on my Cobb salad - they only provided whites as the waiter said yolks are not available. So for 1 egg white I was charged $3 - really!! We watched our meal sit in the window for more than 5 minutes before someone brought It over to us. The deviled eggs were delicious! Please bring back the trout.

Was shocked when we received the bill and realized we had been charged extra to put the salad dressing on the side. I have allergies and have to go easy on certain foods.
Wasn't mentioned until we saw it on the bill.
Because of that cheapness , I can't recommend this Restaunt. Might be going out of business if $1.50 was more important than loosing a customer??

We received a gift certificate to The Southern Gentleman. It isn’t in our neighborhood, so we felt like we were really eating out and trying s new spot.
The decor, menu, and service were superb, as was the location and the validated parking. Kellum was an awesome server! One negative to us was the noise level. There was background music, a live band AND loud conversation as diners struggled to engage in conversation. I could not hear the server or my husband, who was sitting across from me.

The food was creative, fresh and delicious. We would definely return, but NOT for dinner when a band is playing.

Great atmosphere, very friendly staff and attentive waiters! Had the cheeseburger which was cooked well and came with a lot of fries. The didn't have every beer on the menu available which was a bummer and a bit pricey for American fare but that's Buckhead I guess..

The house specialties were not traditional, but they were not refreshing takes on the classic dish. The shrimp and grits were doused in an uninspired bbq sauce and the empanada that supported the scallop risotto tasted more like a soggy cracker. The drinks were great, but the food was expensive and lackluster.

TSG happens to be one of my favorite restaurants. The manager turned my 1st and only negative experience into a positive one. So whenever you take the time to turn my frown upside down, I’m pleased.

We had a wonderful Sunday Brunch. This is definitely a place we'll return to again and again. The atmosphere is upscale but not stuffy. Very contemporary but still a great gastro pub comfortble feel. Food is delicious, drinks are fantastic. It was a real treat when the Executive Chef came around introducing himself and socializing with the guests. This is a top-notch restaurant. We've already made another reservation to enjoy with friends.

l made a reservation for 10 people at 9:15. l made lt there on time and my table wasn’t ready. l checked back at 9:45p and they told me my table was no where near ready. What’s the point of a reservation, if they don’t honor it? Even at 10:15p, lt wasn’t ready. Not going back.

We had a 5:45 dinner reservation which is early due to a show we went to see at Phillips Arena.
We were seated right away.

1- Ordered drinks one of the drinks was wrong had to go up to the bar to reorder ourselves.
2- Ordered Brie appetizer which was over cooked and no brie was left but hard cheese.
3- Ordered three salads one with grilled chicken and kale one with steak and one kale salad.
salads arrived at 7:05 after we asked where about our order. Kale salad was not washed tasted like sand in our mouth. Salads were warm and wilted.

Service is is amazing, the people here are very genuine and knowledgeable and did an amazing job, Michael was amazing. The ambiance was wonderful, they had a singer come in as we were leaving that was great so the bar area was hoppin. I️ think the Manager or owner came over and said they had a new chef so that was nice to know. We had some food that was incredible, like the Chess pie, the shrimp, the collard greens, they had a sommelier come in so had new wines from CA that were amazing and my husbands old fashion was great, fairly strong but really balanced and wonderful. My husbands fried chicken, the top chicken breast was really over salted, but the bottom one was perfect, so just needed a little better execution in less salt overall and salting them separately since they were stacked. My shrimp in my shrimp and grits were perfectly cooked and seasoned....the grits were not as creamy as I️ like with shrimp and grits and the sauce was thinner and had a little too much vinegar/acid vs fat ratio.... I️ think it needs to be richer, but was solid overall. The cornbread was not good, so they need to work on that. The topping was not a good mix of flavors with the lavender honey and cheese and the cornbread was dry and “cakey”, like cornbread can be dry but still has a strong corn taste and lots of texture and this was dry, poor texture and didn’t taste like corn... if you cook it in cast iron but don’t put enough oil or butter in it to crisp the edges then it defeats the purpose of cast iron...So for the most part we had a great dinner, the food and wine were very good and we will be back, minus the cornbread!

This was the most refreshing and alluring space I have been to in a long time. The atmosphere was enchanting. The food was indescribably good and the drinks were beyond creative and simply amazing. Please try the small plate okra. Dont waste time on your "go to" drink..live a little and try the "Ms. Jackson". BTW the service was impeccable.

We went to brunch at the Southern Gentleman and it was great! Definitely get the giant cinnamon roll to share at the table. The omelette I had was delicious, as well. There was a live singer when we went, but they were not overpowering like some can be where you have to yell at the person across from you to hear, they just provided a nice background sound. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other dishes on the menu.

Food was very mediocre ( we had the Parmesan omelet for brunch and chicken sausage). I have honestly made better omelets at home and one of my friends chicken sausages was very undercooked. The atmosphere is very nice and great decor and location! Wouldn't come back for the food though.

We had a wonderful time at The Southern Gentleman and we would definitely go back. Our waiter Patrick was great, and host Molly brought us free Prosecco because we hadn't gotten the table we wanted. The upstairs patio is so inviting that that alone would bring me back. The Bourbon and Beer pimiento cheese with potato chips was wonderful, and the Bacon Devilled Eggs were good (just not as good as the pimiento cheese). The kale Caesar was good, and the filet that came with it was fabulous. My husband loved his Shrimp Boil and our friend loved his Scallop Risotto. The Lincourt pinot noir we ordered was fabulous and the chocolate Chess Pie, served warm with vanilla ice cream, was out of this world.

I had lunch with a friend and while there were very few customers our food took a little too long to come out. Our server was helpful - I appreciated that she offered to substitute a small salad for collard greens - but she was not attentive. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles because I thought it sounded fun - the chicken pieces were coated in grease as though they had gone from the fryer directly onto the waffle with no stop to sop up any of the grease in between and the waffle was hard and dry (which meant it became very greasy immediately) It's a lovely space but can't imagine that I'd go back which is more disappointing than our lunch was.

Ambiance was great but food was mediocre and service was minimal at best. In two hours during Sunday brunch our server never came back to get us additional drinks. We received out entrees and one drink in 2 hours. We never received anything else even though there were bread plates on our table the entire meal.

great little restaurant with a beautiful, historic looking decor. Food was fantastic!! We ordered corn fritters, fried green tomatoes, chicken and waffles, a cheeseburger, and fried chicken- very southern food lol, which was exactly why we came. All of it was excellent and highly recommended!! The collard greens were the best I'd ever had :)

Advice from a local foodie: the Southern Gentlemen has some of the best food, service, and craft cocktails in Atlanta, hands down.

My girlfriend and I arrived an hour ahead of our last-minute reservation and sat at the bar until the hostess was able to seat us. Our bartender Nick served us quality custom cocktails and a delicious muscle-based appetizer while we enjoyed the live music. He even kept our dish warm for us when we stepped out to enjoy a cigarette. A table was ready for us early and we sat outside where we were served by Troy. Great service again and a great recommendation on the evening's special - a house salad served with chicken-fried chicken. Delicious. We ordered the steak for 2 as well and that was also quite good.

We had such a good experience that we opted to cancel our 2-yr anniversary date next week at a five star restaurant in midtown and come back to the Southern Gentlemen for their Halloween Carnevil themed evening instead :)

As usual, the experience was amazing! The manager Holly treats us like old friends, and the servers are all equally great and friendly. I'd highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for some great comfort food in Buckhead. Great Friday or Saturday night spot or even Sunday brunch. FYI - probably the most flavorful shrimp & grits I've had.
