The Southern Gentleman
The gorgeous top floor space in Buckhead Atlanta was designed by New York’s Lacina Heitler, and features classic, Southern touches done in surprising, modern ways: seersucker window treatments, tufted camel leather booths, vintage plateware, white marble countertops, vaulted ceilings, herringbone floors, dramatic chandeliers, complete with an oversized portrait of Mark Twain painted by a commissioned local artist.

The service and food were subpar. Beautiful place, however.
The food was delicious but the vibe was not what I expected. The server was tired and lacked a lot of energy until mid meal when decided to pep him up. Our table was not cleaned prior to us being seated and apparently there was a birthday dinner seated before us because my guests had chocolate stains on their clothes from it being in the chairs too :( I enjoyed my food but I will not be returning as there are other wonderful restaurants in Atlanta to dine.
Very upscale and classy. Food and service was amazing!! The music was a bit loud but the overall experience was very pleasant.
Right in the heart of Buckhead, the Southern Gentleman was a wonderful spot to bring out of state guests for lunch. The food was delicious and we sat outside on a gloriously beautiful day.
Highly recommend valet parking.
The food was great of course. Got the chicken sandwich that was made with chicken sausage. I asked for a tomato to go on my sandwich, they were out of sliced tomatoes. The sandwich was a little dry and the tomato would have made it better. There is a lot of bread for the small patty. The fries were great. I actually love this place. Some suggestions: please place tables socially distant inside and outside or just block of tables. The place was packed and nobody was socially distant. Also, even though restaurants say that they take great measures to prevent Covid they never wipe off the chairs were people push and pull the chair in or out all day.
My friend and I had the best time!! Our waiter was so amazing and friendly!! 10/10 recommend
Great experience and amazing food per usual. Alex the manager and Kavin our server were phenomenal in their service and attention to detail.
The overall experience was great.
This dinner was a first at this restaurant and the food was amazing. Our server, Malcolm, was awesome. He was very attentive and a great conversationalist. The energy in the restaurant was vibrant and all consuming. Our drinks were perfection. I will definitely be visiting again, when I'm in town.
Their dinner is better than brunch, the atmosphere is great.
Literally a wonderful hidden gem! The staff is fantastic! From the chef to the servers to the management, every person had a smile on their face! Atmosphere was so genuinely welcoming & not that stuffy usually “upper bourgeoise” air of arrogance that most Buckhead businesses have. Beautiful decor, I could go on & on. Love love LOVE this place!!
We made a reservation for brunch and were seated immediately. The waitress was very polite. She mixed up our check and order but did everything to fix it! There was a bit too much time between her checking in on us, but it was a busy Sunday. Overall the food was amazing and I was pleased with the experience. Would definitely go back.
The service was great, there was no wait, the food was good, but was more like small plates and could've been warmer. The ambiance was nice...
Great experience got friends 30th bday! Staff was welcoming and very accommodating even with picky eaters. We had an amazing time!
Horrible service and wait to order, especially sitting at the bar.
I was very disappointed that we did not receive outside seating when it was specifically reserved. Also, the food was just okay.
Menu seemed to be paired down significantly, possibly due to Covid which is understandable. Went last year same time of year for same occasion to celebrate my brothers’ birthdays. Service was fine, food was okay.
My boyfriend and I were excited for a date night to try a new restaurant in the Shops of Buckhead. Unfortunately this was a horrible experience and we are still shocked with the service we received. Our waiter was not attentive and we ended up leaving before we got our entrees. The appetizers we did have were okay, not anything special. After waiting an unusually long time (maybe 35 mins?) for a glass of wine with no sight of our waiter I went to go talk to the host just to see if she knew where our waiter was. I have never complained at a restaurant before but for it not being busy and our waiter maybe had 1-2 other tables we figured we had been forgotten about. At this point is was past 9 PM and we had a reservation at 7:45 PM. After talking to the host, two other waiters came to check on us and one of them had our entrees. I hate to waste food but at this point we had no idea how long they had been sitting out and for ordering the two most expensive entrees this was completely unacceptable. After just asking for our bill politely for the drinks and appetizers we had, the manager (who I did not see once the entire night until we had an issue, granted we were sitting on the patio but still..) offered to let us take the entrees to go and was would not give us a bill for what we had (which we appreciate but we still would have paid for what we had) because she felt so horrible. At that point we just wanted to get out of there and we respectfully left. Funny enough we were able to walk right into Gypsy Kitchen right next store (where we had been before) and had the BEST service and meal. Overall, I just think our waiter was the issue and unfortunately it has left a bad taste in our mouth about The Southern Gentlemen. The host, manager and other waiters were very nice and responsive when they knew there was an issue but overall a very unacceptable experience for the high end restaurant it should be.
Going back tonight 😏
Great food & cocktails! Check out their brunch on Sunday.
It's worth the experience. Everyone was very friendly. The establishment was clean and very exceptional.
This place made everything truly amazing for me, because my fiance had planned a proposal for me and they made sure to have everything ran smoothly for him to do it. Everyone enjoyed the food and the ambience was so nice.
Server was nice but we waited over an hour for our food. We had salads and added chicken. The chicken came out over 20 minutes after we received our salads and was 4 tiny pieces on a plate.
Phenomenal as usual! The only reason I gave it four stars for overall, is that there was no social distancing during a worldwide pandemic.
Deciembre was great, as always!
Wouldn’t recommend this place for brunch. The restaurant itself is located in a beautiful area and the inside is beautiful. The menu was very limited but both dishes that my party received were not great. We will not be returning
Our service + Manager Maria was amazing!
Southern Gentleman is such a fantastic resturant. The atmosphere they have created is very inviting and the staff is wonderful. The food and whiskey menu is top notch. We'll definitely be back!
Crowded place. Loud music. Bar service was slow and not very friendly. The food was good. Trending kind of place.
Great Service and the food is amazing! Great atmosphere.
I went for brunch and had the chicken sandwich. It was average, nothing too special. I did enjoy this place for the ambiance and the service was good. Overall great place to meet friends and for social settings, food is decent but not outstanding. I would come here again but try something different.
The tomato pie is perfection, the pork belly perfection. Smoked Manhattan perfection. End of the review.
Restaurant was great! Food was fantastic a must visit.
Service and food were less than the usual premium. Server wasn't very helpful in helping us understand menu items, wouldn't put his mask on his face, and the food was cold and not fresh. We left most of the food on the table and and somewhere else after paying the bill.
Great atmosphere, fun craft cocktails and whiskey flights. The pimento cheese dip was delicious!
Birthday celebration with the girls. Patio is very comfortable and spaced accordingly. Malcolm was our server. He was very knowledgeable about the drinks and the menu. Very attentive and personable. It was a great dining experience.
The food was awesome the service was on point I would most definitely recommend
It was a great experience and I’ll definitely be going back!!! It’s added to my new favorite places in ATL!
We were about 40 minutes late for our reservation, but I called ahead and we were seated with no problem. The service was attentive, but not overbearing, the food was absolutely amazing! I had the trout, he had the steak. It was a bit cold because they had the patio doors open (fall came unexpectedly), but I'm not a complainer and after a while it was bearable. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I can't wait to go back to try the rest of their menu!
Headed out to Southern Gentleman for a late afternoon escape from the woes of the world... glorious weather, an absolutely terrific waiter (Kaven) and cocktails brightened our day along w the yummy pimento cheese and shisito pepper appetizers. You can never go wrong w the fried chicken and hangar steak; the dishes were well prepared and served piping hot! You can request outside seating which we did and we were very comfortable. Don’t wait, make a reservation today!! 🥃
