The Southern Gentleman
The gorgeous top floor space in Buckhead Atlanta was designed by New York’s Lacina Heitler, and features classic, Southern touches done in surprising, modern ways: seersucker window treatments, tufted camel leather booths, vintage plateware, white marble countertops, vaulted ceilings, herringbone floors, dramatic chandeliers, complete with an oversized portrait of Mark Twain painted by a commissioned local artist.

We had dinner at the Southern Gentleman on a weekday night. We sat on the patio, enjoyed the area. The food was good. I had the trout, my husband had shrimp & grits and my daughter had the buttermilk fried chicken. Of the 3 meals, the chicken was deemed the best.
We celebrated Father’s Day here and the overall experience was perfect. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. The service was amazing and the food was fresh and seclusion’s! We will DEFINITELY visit again!
Food was great. Service was poor. My guess is that they were short of staff.
This was a decent experience. Drinks were great! Service was good! Food was just "ok" and menu was kind of limited. We went for brunch. But it was a good vibe...
Very packed and no longer carry yhe sandwich i like.
Great ambiance. Tasty food. Service needs some work but was ok.
My server Mary was just wonderful! So knowledgeable and accommodating. Everything came out quickly and correctly, her upbeat energy made our experience very pleasurable. Will definitely be Back for another girls night!
I would’ve rated a 5 but our party preferred outside seating and the host told us our party could sit outside but when it was time for us to sit, I think the manager decided to sit us inside, we were a party of 7. Since the inside was mostly empty, we requested a large table that was open. We were told it’s already booked for a party. However, that party never showed up for that table. Other than that, the food and drinks were amazing, the ambiance was beautiful and the presentation of the plates was excellent. It did take long for our drinks to be served to us after ordering. I would come back again because the food and scenery is worth it. Hopefully, I will experience better service the next time.
Stanford is the man! Second time having him. He always takes of us. Waited a bit for the check, but he seemed quite busy and we were tucked in a corner.
Took husband for early Father’s Day dinner…food was really good and service was fast!
The service wasn’t as sharp as I had in the past but food was really on point. I was a little disappointed that my husbands birthday wasn’t acknowledged when I put it on the notes which was the reason of our visit.
Jonathan our server was very polite and had great energy. He gave us honest opinions and made sure our food came out exactly how we ordered, I know im very picky and Jonathan did an amazing job getting me everything I asked.
The restaurant was awesome. Food was delicious! Our server and the general manager were so sweet and made our anniversary dinner magical, fun and easy like Sunday morning!
This was my first visit to this amazing establishment. It is beautifully adorned, the vibe is lively, the staff is pleasant and attentive and the food is excellent. Our server, Cavin, has a wonderful personality. He may need to write a few things down to assist with organization, but he delivers remarkable service. I will definitely visit this venue again and I'll bring friends!
We ordered the chicken and skillet cake and shrimp ans grits. Sooo good ! Will be back to brunch again!
The service, the setting, the meal and drinks were all so enjoyable that we cannot wait until we can return!
As many times as I’ve been to Buckhead, never knew this place existed. Started off with a little pimento cheese and chips which lead up to the fried chicken and skillet cake. I’ve had my share of chicken and waffles but as the kids say these days, this just hit different. Having bacon and maple syrup added to this already dynamic duo simply made this come alive! 100% would order it again!
Fried chicken Amazing
Old fashioned, the best
Chocolate bombe get it
Hadn't been in years, so glad I returned!
The service was terrible food had no flavor
We enjoyed brunch. Service was a little slow due to light staff. But, everyone was all hands on deck. So, they get an A for effort.
We enjoyed dining here. The ambiance was fantastic and so was the food.
Sunday Brunch, everything was good. Seasonal Mimosas were great, Hot chicken sandwich great.. Ambiance is always a nice vibe.
Cavin was a excellent waiter and very attentive during our visit at restaurant.
Wonderful atmosphere great food. Great service!!!
Our Server Mary was fabulous! So attentive and knowledgeable about the menu!!
Hush puppies so dry
Shrimp and grits - eh
Dessert was good
The food was ok. The service was great. The drink we’d strong but not tasty. The French toast was soggy and ok. The scrambled eggs were delish.
Great atmosphere, great customer service!
Cavin was awesome.
Great food and great atmosphere. Our server was great also even tho he was super busy.
The food was sub-par. I won’t be returning. We ordered the shrimp and grits, fried fish and two Sunday mimosa specials.
It is me and my husband six year anniversary and we wanted to come here as people liked this place and we said why not, first the hostess that sat us did not tell us about how to get to the menu, are waiter told us, as he informed us the hostess was suppose to tell us, so we sat at the table for 15 minutes waiting for a menu, second we ordered the shrimp and grits and it looked good but when started eating it the shrimp was way over cooked hard like bullets and was bland no taste and third the food we did order the steak and eggs and me the chicken and skillet cakes looked good but of course bland no flavor. I’m not sure who’s cooking but they need to make sure to taste the food to make sure its seasoned.
One of us had a hair in our food. The pimento cheese appetizer didn’t have any flavor. Overall a good experience but not great.
The staff shortage brought on by the pandemic + the disappointment stemming from tasting each dish (and the tea) = A solid waste of a dining experience. Nice atmosphere, but I’d never return for the food or the service.
Had a wonderful evening and when the waitress learned of my wife’s baby shower, she surprised us with dessert. Truly thankful and grateful to the staff!
From the start, this was a special experience! As we took the elevator up, I realized that this place was an instant mood booster, and I was already happy! The ambience and decor is absolutely beautiful and I loved the spacious booths. Our server’s name was Mary and she was very polite and knowledgeable. I ordered the Benvolio Prosecco Brut. It was so crisp and delicious. My friend ordered the sweet tea. For appetizers we tried oysters (they came topped with apples, celery, and microgreens which provided a very fresh palate cleansing feel. The pimento dip with the homemade chips wasn’t too pimento-y and tasted good even with the buttermilk rolls. The rolls were divine! The bacon fat wasn’t overly done but you could definitely taste it and it was worth every bite! For entrees, I ordered the fried chicken and she ordered the roasted chicken. The fried chicken is served with roasted potatoes and carrots, a leek reduction and a hot honey glaze. OMG! The chicken was perfectly cooked, the skin was crispy, the potatoes were fall off the fork tender and buttery and the carrots were cooked to perfection and not too large. When the leek reduction hit the hot honey, magic was made for sure! I tried the dirty rice and roasted chicken as well and it was very flavorful and tasty. Another glass of Prosecco for me and we were out the door. Now THAT is how you celebrate a birthday! If you come here you won’t be disappointed!
The service was very slow. We cleared our own table and served ourselves water. Thankfully there was a servers tray next to our table which made it convenient for us to do this. The table for 4 was minuscule. Many other patrons were loud and rowdy. I’m sure they had fun. We could hardly hear ourselves talk.
Cool spot in Buckhead! excellent service.
