The Southern Gentleman
The gorgeous top floor space in Buckhead Atlanta was designed by New York’s Lacina Heitler, and features classic, Southern touches done in surprising, modern ways: seersucker window treatments, tufted camel leather booths, vintage plateware, white marble countertops, vaulted ceilings, herringbone floors, dramatic chandeliers, complete with an oversized portrait of Mark Twain painted by a commissioned local artist.

We sat on the patio and the ambiance is visually romantic and classy, however the heater fan overhead was so loud we practically shouted to have conversations. Also note that if you have seafood allergies they fry everything in the same oil. The manager offered to give me a ribeye at the same cost as the fried chicken entree that I wanted or grill the chicken instead which was nice. Unfortunately the Ribeye was tough and dried out since it came out pre sliced on top of my veggies and presentation was not appealing. Our server was slow and forgetful but very nice. Our cocktails from the bar and the mac n cheese were the best thing we all had of the night. This was a party of 8 for a Birthday dinner.
We made a reservation but there was no table available, which kind of defeats the purpose of reserving a table. Once we were seated, it was alone behind the other restaurant next door with a bunch of random chairs, it was cold and we were frequently forgotten about. The food was average, my salad had toppings listed on the menu that didn’t get put on the salad so it was just beets and lettuce. We were told they were out of a menu item when we got there and on our way out (about two hours later due to the slow service), we saw it on someone’s table. If it wasn’t for the folks I came with and the mimosas we were served it would’ve been a pretty bad time. I would only come back for drinks.
Visiting my daughter at college for the weekend and took out her and her friends here for sunday brunch. Very yummy and not too too pricey, their fried chicken and skillet pancake signature dish is very delicious and should be ordered by at least one person in your party!! Also love the frittata, ask for it warmed up with pimento cheese. Omelet was fine but nothing special, scrambled eggs were good and the side of bacon came with like 10 pieces. Seasonal mimosas was wonderful!
It was the day after Valentines Day and they were still using Valentine’Day limited menu instead of full menu.
Waiter was extremely rude and delayed giving us our check for 15 minutes because we didn’t want to order dinner after viewing the limited holiday menu. New friends told us NOT to go there and we should’ve listened.
Very eclectic and limited menu choices. Loud music and louder patrons. This is more of a bar than a restaurant.
Our food was served barely warm. A carrot dish had some carrots that were cooked through while others were crunchy. It was such an inconsistent dish. My husband could not finish his scallop dish because the middle of them were raw. The service was slow to arrive and while we were sitting at our table other servers came over at least three times to deliver food that did not order. This is one of the most mismanaged restaurants I've ever been to. I won't return because serving raw food is not safe for anyone.
It was great, as usual.
Went there for brunch and the food was very good. We started with the beet salad which was excellent although very late but the manager voluntarily comped us to make up for the delay. Hubs got the fried chicken and pancake. He didn't know it came with bacon so he accidentally ordered bacon on the side, but I question if that was truly "accidental". Wow, that pancake was dynamite! Truly special. It was over an inch thick and fluffy! I got the shrimp and grits which was delicious but similar to most places (ie SCK). We both got the seasonal pomegranate mimosas, very good. Hubs started with coffee which was just okay and came with generic white diner sugar. Would have liked to see sugar in the raw. Overall we really enjoyed it.
I took my girlfriend here for Valentine's Day (day after actually, we both worked late in Friday) to try their brunch. We were a little early for our 10am reservation, but they told us to pick any seat we liked. Overall the food was great, I had the pimento omelette and she had the French toast with a side of chicken sausage. We wanted to try the bread basket but they were sold out. We got Johnny cakes instead and those were just two small pancakes for $6. Those were disappointing hence the 4 star review, but overall we were pleased and will probably go back again when it warms up outside to sit on their patio.
The food was outstanding!
The food, staff, and service were absolutely amazing. My husband and I came here to celebrate his birthday. The staff went above and beyond to make my husbands dinner a special one. We requested a certain dish that was not on the menu and the chef happily accommodated our request. Service like this is what will keep customers like me coming back for more.
Everything but the food was great. Most people had fish and it was bland overcooked.
I had eaten here before and had a great meal not sure if it was just an off night but probably not a do over for a business meeting.
Food and drinks were great. Been there a few times and will continue to go. There was an issue in the kitchen so we ended up not getting food very quickly, but the staff was great, recognized the issue before we even said anything, and compensated us with drinks and dessert
Food was average. But oh boy the bacon appetizer!! Outstanding! A must try. Ambience was very good. Good place to hang out with family and friends.
It was our first time there. Not the best considering it started out waiting 10 plus minutes to get a server. "Kevin" was nice attempting to "fix" for us, Grateful for him. Was hoping we could have ordered from "Dinner" menu since our reservations was after 3:30 pm but were only allowed to order from brunch menu, which was a little disappointing. Had concerns about food preparation as my burger was under cooked (asked for well done) got medium rare. Wife and Uncle got Chicken w/Pancakes and it was (pancake) overcooked and the Bacon on it burnt. Too embarrassed to complain, it was Wife's Birthday, so I went with it but honestly was not happy with the food experience. I paid almost $100 and tipped 20%
Ambiance was better than expected but the food options were limited. The portions were on par for the prices and location.
Restaurant was nice and food was good. I really enjoyed my fried chicken and pancake. Only concern was the heater fan on the corner of the enclosed patio seating. It was super loud and made it hard to have a conversation if you are sitting directly under it.
Food was cold, even after returning multiple times.
Dominique was amazing and the food was great!
Went to celebrate husband’s birthday. The main hostess was very attentive and kept us abreast on the kitchen’s wait time while balancing the needs of others. Enjoyed the fried chicken and greens, macaroni and cheese was ok. Our server was knowledgeable and accommodating. A little loud but it was in fact a Saturday night. Looking forward to returning. Greatly appreciated the staff!
Very fun place to have an upscale dining option with friends. It's very hip and cool, so do not go with coworkers or business clients. The noise level is pretty high so be prepared to speak loudly with your table. But the food is actually very good. One memorable plate was the pickled shrimp. I went for dinner with two friends and we had a great time. You'll have to be loud because of the atmosphere, but it is a somewhat upscale Buckhead spot.
We were there for a birthday celebration. It is best to valet and get your ticket validated for a discount. The restaurant is above the shops next to the Gypsy.
The food we tried was good. The candied bacon is soo good.
Servicer was awesome very attentive and knowledgeable. Food was awesome portion sizes were a little small . Place was a bit noisy but will definitely go back.
Yes drinks were good and food was great . This was our 3rd time there but this time it was very packed and also music was pretty loud . But still would overall go back and recommend.
Fried green tomatoes were not cooked - not done.
Brussels sprouts were not flavorful.
Beet salad - good
Mac and cheese - great
Bread pudding- texture and density not good. Tasted more like sweet potato pie.
Service/ waitress - attentive
Great table for 1 overlooking the city street. Carolina BBQ Pork on pancakes was a nice twist and the GA Shrimp and Grits was a comfort touch. Finished with the burger which melted—it was amazing. Took a little longer to get an extra like for my drink and the final check was about a 20 minute wait (only reason for 4 stars on service). But nothing that would prevent a return visit.
Brunch was delightful!
Waitress was very nice Tall chairs were shaky and scary to sit in
In the past, I have had great experiences at this restaurant but during my recent visit for Sunday brunch the service was not outstanding, they no longer had live music, and we waited 30 minutes after checking to be seated even though we had a reservation and a table was ready.
Food was a bit bland. Overall it was ok
Food was solid. However the service experience was terrible. Dishes came out one at a time spread over an hour and a half for 8 ppl! Several were wrong and all were only room temperature when they came out. We ended up canceling dishes because it took so long and was so poorly managed. Manager tried to rectify at end, but was too late by then.
This was the first time my fiancé and I visited the restaurant. Our waiter provided excellent service and explained the menu and options very well. The food was excellent and we’ll definitely return again!
Atmosphere was very energetic. Little bit loud. Drinks were super. Service very good. Food lousy. I would go for pre- or post-dinner drinks.
Too loud to even have dinner conversations with the whole table. Only option was to talk to the 3 people near you. Food was just ok. Cocktails and wine were great. Waitress super attentive.
It’s a cute date night spot but the food is average. We had the fried chicken and it wasn’t really seasoned and some of my brussel sprouts were burnt. I think people go there because of the ambiance.
Not a great experience... food less than average, long wait, cold food, my friend got hers while I was still waiting for mine, got ketchup with fries while asked for mayo...
Good!! Typical southern food, good service
