The Social Club - Surfcomber South Beach Ratings and Reviews
We love the Kimpton brand. so, choosing the Social Club was a good bet. The location is great, on Collins. We were seated on the patio, which sits up and back from the street, so the people watching was fun and yet we could carry on a conversation. Alex was a great server, very attentive. We were headed to a Miami Heat game and our food came out timely. The burgers were really tasty ( a bit pricey, but hey it IS Miami Beach!) and the steak Frites were well received ( steak had a gravy on top, fyi ). Solid dining....
The service was great as we celebrated my daughters 17th birthday. Allowing me the private semi private hightop table was great and to be able to decorate in advance made it fantastic. The girls had a great time followed by a dip in the ocean and a photo shoot inside and outside of the hotel
This place was just okay. The best thing was mac & cheese so that is not saying much. I expect more when in South Beach. Sitting inside there was a lack of ambiance. Took over 30 minutes to get a bottle of wine for a table of 6 people when we were the only table inside. Basic food and bad wine.
I made a reservation for brunch for 3 people on October 28, 2017 for my birthday. You guys took over an hour to seat and feed us.... and first we were sat at a 2 top table and made to feel bad when another 2 person table finished and we asked if we could spread out. You guys should have done something about the noise level of that group to our left. Their noise level was disgraceful and so disrespectful to other patrons. I felt like I was at a football game; something I didn't sign up for when I chose your establishment for brunch. The hostess was in a terrible mood, the manager was useless in providing support.... the only good thing was our very sweet waiter, who was trying his best to make a terrible dining experience better. Also, my hollandaise sauce was severely undercooked. You guys should be embarrassed for providing such a terrible experience; I'm certainly embarrassed for eating here.
We were staying at the Surfcomber and decided to check out the Social Club for dinner. The restaurant was quiet because South Beach is still recovering from Hurricane Irma. Our server was friendly and made several suggestions, all of which we tried...brussel sprouts, wings, and red snapper. They were all delicious. It was my “pre-Birthday” dinner and we were given complimentary house-made donuts for dessert....a nice touch!
The service was excellent. I don't remember our waitresses name (she was polish), she was great! They did not have the dessert we ordered, so she brought us to very nice complementary glasses of wine and another dessert on the house. Above and beyond. The food was great as well.
Who knows if the food would have been good or not as we never had the chance to try it. There was a black out, so no electricity and no food, I understand that these things can happen but for sure they could have contacted Open Table to inform all customers with a reservation informing them that it was cancelled instead of having us go there and then figure out from there what to do and where to go.
