Our dinner exceeded our expectations. Alex was very informative and his staff attentive.
We were there to celebrate my wife Karen's birthday. Karen who is not known for hyperbole felt the chicken was without a doubt the best she had ever experienced anywhere. I felt the same about the French Onion Soup. We will be back again soon.

Everything at the Smoking Goat was amazing, food, ambiance, service. It is my new favorite restaurant. I plan on having my birthday party there in November! My friend and I were talking about our food and the experience on our way home in the Uber, and the Uber driver asked us what restaurant we were talking about, and that he had to visit it after hearing our raves about the food. Two days later and I am still raving about the food!

The food was incredible!! We had escargot and truffle fries for appetizers. All three entrees were cooked perfectly- prime rib, halibut and their signature pork chop. Finished with a perfect creme brûlée that was on the house as we were celebrating my son’s birthday- a perfect evening!!!!

We sat on the patio and our server was wonderful! Recommending a couple specials. We got the local catch of the day and the prime rib. Our whole table was obsessed with that prime rib dish! I loved the touch of zest on our espresso and the attentive friendly service we got from the front of house crew members. Great job everyone! ♥️♥️♥️

The food is AMAZING!!! Had the mussels (might've been the best we've had!), arugula salad, pork chop, squash pasta, flourless chocolate cake and bread pudding! Seriously. Delicious. 😊 DEFINITELY coming back! Hopefully they have a full bar by then - but wine was great!

We truly tried almost all the appetizers. AMAZING. I had the NY steak with truffle fries cooked in duck fat were the best I’ve ever had!! Dessert, we had two Banana Fosters and goat cheese cheesecake. My fav was the cheesecake. A welcome surprise with the hint of the goat cheese. Presentation was simple but elegant. Service spot on. The manager Alex made us feel at home. Can’t wait to go back.

We dined early (6 p.m.) on a Tuesday and we were initially the only party in the main dining room. Our server and his assistant were both very solicitous and we enjoyed being waited on. For an appetizer we had the duck pate and it was superb. Served with a dollop of excellent bleu cheese, assorted fruits, a schemer of fig jam, and crostini, it was very summery. For dinner my partner ordered three small plates: Crispy grilled octopus, croquettes, and roasted cauliflower. I had the whole grilled Branzino which was done to a moist flaky perfection while the skin was crispy as a maritime chicharron. Dessert was the grilled banana bread with bananas foster and ice cream. In short, a wonderful dinner.

The Smoking Goat is awesome! We have dined there twice. The first visit was epic. Food and service were amazing. Our last trip was great...with room for improvement. My wife ordered the special, Prime Rib. This was not on the menu. The price was $55. It was just okay. We have had better for $20. The $32 New York steak was by far superior to the prime rib. The truffle fries are out of this world! I had the catch of the day which was White Sea Bass. The fillet was very good. However, it was on a bed of veggies. No texture or pop to the veggies. Yah, not my cup of tea. There was no starch on the plate. The fish should have been accompanied by something. Risotto would have been perfect. Service was outstanding. Matthew was our server. Again, incredible restaurant. But, everybody is a critic nowadays. So, just adding my two cents. PS: The baked brie is delectable!

The only better than the food was the service! Every suggestion we received was a home run, and the staff was well versed in the menu. It was a busy Saturday night for them, but that didn’t stop their amazing service. Hope to go back soon!

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Smoking Goat. The server was very knowledgeable and excited to share the details (when asked) about how some of the dishes are prepared. The escargot was well prepared and the sauce was not too garlicky with just the right amount of tarragon. The prime rib special was delicious. Our companion had the Duroc pork chop and said it was very juicy and tasty. My wife had the New York steak which was a bit chewy (medium rare). Excellent ambiance and a great view of the action along 30th St. in North Park.

The service was ok, and, to be fair, the noise level was only awful on account of some really obnoxious women sitting behind us. The food though, was not very good-- the mussels were fishy and gross, the baked brie was weak. We left all agreeing we should have gone elsewhere for our $150 happy hour tab...

I had been waiting a very long time to try this restaurant. Overall, it was good so I give the review 3 stars but it wasn't GREAT so I am not sure I'll go back. Whole roasted fish was excellent, but our other items did not hit the mark: hubby's pork chop was overcooked; escargots was heavy-handed on Tarragon; and arugula salad was long and stringy...very hard to eat. Not sexy!

A friend and I had a fabulous meal and great drinks. The server was jovial and fun, so he added a new layer of excellence. The only thing I would say disturbed our meal was the level of volume from other customers. Not sure if the sound was bouncing off the windows or what but it got a little loud to where we were practically yelling across the table to talk. Not sure the restaurant can fix it but otherwise the food and service were outstanding.

Food was incredible! The place had a really cool decor, but the music was a little too loud for a romantic date night. Server assistant and manager were great and super friendly. Our server did his job, but wasn’t very personable. Overall I’d definitely go back, I can’t wait to try the rest of the menu!

This place has amazing food, wonderful service, and great ambience! I had a wonderful dinner; my solo birthday celebration was made exceptional by both Alex and Jordan. I also enjoyed interacting with everyone behind the counter and watching the teamwork involved. I recommended The Smoking Goat to friends across the country before I ordered dessert!

This is one of our favorite restaurants in San Diego, we use to go all the time when we lived in North Park, we moved to Mission Hills and don't go as often as we like. We prefer weeknights dining, it is quieter and this place is great, great food and great service, can't say enough good things about this place.
