Everything here is spectacular. The vibe is great, the service is amazing- and the food is incredible. We can't wait to come back everytime we are in San Diego.
The service was great (even though they were busy). Appetizers were fun - octopus good, snail good, brie was great.
Steak and fries YUM!
Everything was excellent- still my fave San Diego restaurant! Especially impressed with their service during these challenging times.
After living in France for 17 years and eating at several Michelin starred restaurants I can honestly say that the meal I just had at the Smoking Goat was every bit as good. The food is just fabulous. The menu is varied and there is something for everyone. Don't miss the goat cheese cheesecake for dessert - if you have room!
French food is not very common in San Diego. This was an all around excellent meal. All dinners were great as well as dessert. The banana bread foster was so good we tried to order a second one but they were sold out at that point - that was the only disappointment of the evening. The escargot was a standout appetizer.
Exceptional food and service. Creative dishes that are a joy to eat.
I LOVE THIS PLACE! Wanted to try a new restaurant in the neighborhood and this did not disappoint. The best French onion soup I’ve had in a long time. Great wine. Just good, quality food and a service staff that wants you to have a the best time. Will for sure dining here again.
Service was great and staff was all really friendly. Food was amazing as well, we split 5 appetizers and 2 desserts. The atmosphere was fun and we loved the music! We will definitely be back.
Delicious dinner, delicious wine- The Smoking Goat Bordeaux was quite goo! My date loved his chicken!
I didn’t have very high expectations for this place, but even then, it was still a disappointment. I made a reservation and they seated us in the bar area, not the dining room. I had to persistently ask if we could move. No cocktails or hard liquor due to not having a liquor license. Just beer and wine. They make some “signature” cocktails using sake rice wine. Their signature steak and frites, and pork chop that the server said was the best thing on the menu was a really sad representation of their “best”. The steak was cold, not Luke warm, but actually cold and grisly, hard to even cut through with a serrated steak knife. The pork chop was dry and over cooked. A couple of good things were the tiny flourless chocolate cake, the fries, and ice cream, but that’s it. Way over-priced and poor quality for the food of a neighborhood place or any place for that matter. Might do yourself a favor and avoid this place. There’s much better places in North Park!
Good food, good service. Would recommend for a great dinner with friends or a special occasion.
Such a wonderful night everyone was accommodating and very friendly. The food was exquisite the Octopus appetizer and the steak Frites were unbelievably delicious I can still taste them. Thank you for a great night
Finally back after a while, and it looks like the pandemic has taken its toll; however, I am sure they’ll come back strong. Been here many times before with excellent results.
Our meal was very good. The wine we had was very tasty and worth the price.
Waiter was great.
We sat outside so it could get a little noisy with motorcycles and cars. Service was great and food was fantastic. Would definitely go back.
The food and service was phenomenal. This place will definitely go on the list of my favorites in SD.
Great place to go if you’re looking for a nice but comfortable night out!
Delicious foods, great wine selection, excellent staff. Love Smoking Goat!
First time having dinner there. Awesome food! And I swear that our waiter was Chris Hemsworth! Ok maybe his brother…
My food was cold and not worth the $$. Server was attentive and on it though.
I asked to be seated in a quite area and was seated up front. I said it was our anniversary and absolutely nothing was done special for us. Both of us ordered duck and it arrived cold. The flavor was delicious, but the duck was cold. The knifes needed sharpening as the duck was hard to cut. The server was friendly and attentive.
Dinner out with friends. The Smoking Goat never disappoints. We had the baked brie and the filet mignon tartare appetizers. Both were excellent. Our entrees were the Duroc pork chop, duck, and 2 orders of the mushroom pasta dishes. Everyone was happy with their choice; the meals were tasty, hearty and filling. Service was great, the wine list has a good variety and wines by the glass are very reasonable. Dessert was creme brûlée and was typical of that dessert. A very enjoyable menu and dining experience.
Have been an enthusiastic patron for years. Last night I was disappointed in both dishes. My duck was a bit tough and not really hot and my friends pasta dish which I recommended ( I have loved the ravioli and mushrooms this was linguini and mushrooms ) was less than tasty with too many undercooked mushroom stems. I would have unequivocally recommended this paces in the past. I would be reticent after last night
Outstanding meal! We were celebrating my birthday and our waiter, Sean, was very attentive and even brought a complimentary dessert. The food was great and the ambiance was lively on a Friday night. Definitely recommend if you like classic French Bistro food and atmosphere.
Mixed review. Entrees were very good but our waiter was not very attentive and seemed a bit disinterested in us. Also, we got the mussels and the sauce was very good but the mussels were a tad fishy. So, overall a mediocre experience after reading so many great reviews. Will probably return to give them another shot, but not anytime soon.
My 1st time here and boy was it worth it! Food really is tasty and perfectly seasoned. My girlfriends and I had a great time and would definitely come back again in the near future. Highly recommend the octopus, steak tartare, steak & frites (those duck fat truffle fries….say whaaaaattt) were all mouthwatering deliciousness.
If you live in SD county and have not been you need to put this place on your list. Great wine selection, apps, entrees and desserts.
Porkchops where dry. I dont know why. The other food was good
Unfortunately we left. The outside seating was unacceptable. We were basically sitting on the street surrounded by exhaust fumes and dogs peeing. The server was really nice but the restaurant needs to work on their ambiance.
We enjoyed an excellent dinner,
Great food, service and atmosphere. We loved the outdoor seating.
Great atmosphere, friendly and engaging staff, and good food. We enjoyed the pork chop and salmon as well as Brie and wedge salad appetizers. All were delicious. Great place for a date night or girls night out.
Love the food here, from escargot to foraged mushroom pasta. It’s always great.
The service was excellent! The food is amazing!
This is a very nice place for a date night or a celebration with a few friends. Check the menu before you go because it is limited and may not suit all tastes.
Appetizers are on the small side, but tasty.
We had eight in our party and everyone enjoyed their main dishes.
Amazing food and service!
I went to this restaurant when it was just a few tables about 10 years ago and at the time as one of the best restaurants I had ever been to. This was my first time back and it was underwhelming. I’m not trying to beat up a vendor I’m just saying that it was not that good. My wife’s swordfish with overcooked and while we specifically mentioned the special occasion when we made the reservation there was no acknowledgment of that at all.
Tried it out the first time during Restaurant Week. Wonderful experience! We will be back.
The food was delicious, portions were large and service was excellent.
3 of us dined during San Diego Restaurant Week. We ordered the escargot, pear salad and baked Brie for starters. Best escargot ever! We shared each of our choices for each course, enjoying the pork chop, duck and salmon entrees. Desserts were goat cheese cheesecake, flourless chocolate cake and creme brûlée. Sadly, we devoured every course, and had no leftovers to enjoy the next day. Our server, Darien, was excellent. His suggestions were spot on. He’s a great asset to o the restaurant.
