Wonderful "old Hollywood" feel. Fantastic and attentive service to our group of 9.
The ambiance was a unique throwback to yesteryear. Classic.
Server rushed the food out. Appetizers came out with salad. Main course arrived before completing salads. Check delivered with no inquiry about dessert. Felt very rushed unfortunately.
Food is always amazing! Our waitress was very attentive!! Love this place
We were in LA for our holidays and had the restaurant recommended to us so decided to go on our last night. We were dressed casually and when we pulled up there was Valet parking which we'd never experienced before. I was a bit worried we were under dressed but the guy in the parking said definitely not and there wasn't a dress code. This put me at ease and when I went inside there were loads of others casually dressed and some in sportswear!! The staff were lovely and so down to earth and even though it's a place to "star spot", everyone was really nice. There were a couple of customers who were up themselves a bit but I was more embarrassed for them than anything else. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant.
It was just so so.
The Smoke House is a classic restaurant in many ways. The ambience and decor are "old school" and comfy. You can come here on a date, for business, or with friends or family and have a great time. The food is comfort food and well prepared. The garlic bread is a treat. The martinis are well prepared. All the wait staff is very experienced, professional and efficient. I love this place. Fun times.
I've been going to the Smoke House for over 50 years and I keep going back, even though I have to say that some of their classic dishes are not very good. I go there for the atmosphere and the nostalgia, but I always recommend that people not order a steak or anything else that requires skill and knowledge to prepare correctly. I always get the chicken piccata, which I think is delicious and a good value. But the other night my husband decided he wanted a steak and ordered the $34.95 filet, even though I tried to talk him out of it. He said it was one of the worst steaks he has ever eaten - well, not really "eaten" because half of it, full of fat and gristle, was left on his plate. So I encourage people to go for the experience, but don't expect anything remotely close to Morton's or Houston's style steaks, even though the prices are not cheap. Oh, and one more thing - I resent having pay $5.50 for them to park my car 10 ft. from where I'm standing, in their own parking lot - and that doesn't include the expected tip.
We love the Smoke House. The wait staff goes out of their way to help you and the hostess even sat us when we arrived a hour early ( only took us 3 hours instead of the usual 4 hours). We live in Murrieta and try to get there as often as possible. My husband's family starting taking him there back in the 1950's and it's still his favorite place. We had prime rib and of course the garlic cheese bread.
I've been coming to the Smoke House for about 60 years now. It started as a family tradition for birthdays and special occasions. This past Friday was a combination of date night and my wife's gracious suggestion we combine it with Valentine's Day to avoid the restrictive special menu that was fixed for 02/14. While a lot may of changed since the late 50's (especially the prices) their garlic bread remains wonderfully scrumptious. I'd recommend getting an uncooked full loaf or two to go. In a world where trendy restaurants come and go the Smoke House remains and prevails.
