Early Valentine’s. Excellent service, good food, nostalgic and fun ambience
The world famous garlic bread seemed to be Kraft Mac and cheese packets sprinkled heavily on otherwise decent garlic bread. The fish tacos were delicious, but the bbq sandwich was blah and too spicy. We finally located our waiter to request something to help it be more palatable, but the rest of us finished eating before he brought it. Normally I’d expect a restaurant to not charge me for inedible food, but the waiter flitted off never asking how we enjoyed the food. I was very disappointed in the experience.
Classic restaurant with amazing food, warm and classy atmosphere! Our waitress was awesome! Great menu and food to die for!!!
Our go to location for Champagne Sunday Brunch, always a good time and great food
I am new to California and was looking for a place to take my daughter for a special Valentines Day outing. I came across your restaurant on a travel LA website, which peaked my interest because we are from San Antonio, Texas. I thought it would be like a home town meal, y’all did not disappoint! The atmosphere is very cozy and full of “Hollywood” actors photos and plenty of booths to enjoy your meal at. The meal is all prepared buffet style which I’m no stranger to. There was every type of meat with all the fixings you could handle. They could even whip up an omelette or a stuffed crepe kinda thing if you that’s what you like. There were sea food, salads and desserts as well. The service was awesome and our tea glasses never saw the bottom, it was a great experience and I’m sure I will make back out there again in the near future. Y’all helped to make my daughters day even more special and for that I’m letting y’all know how much I appreciate what y’all mean to me! And just to let others know that even though you need to valet park your car to get in, don’t let that keep you away! It will be well worth your time to eat here!

Finally found a wonderful family restaurant for Sunday brunch with everything.
Can't wait to go back again.
Waiter service was poor
Frequent customer; hostess tried to mis-seat us at a bad side table. She should have checked and known better, but was also very gracious about being asked to seat us well. Waiter rushed dinner; steaks were out before we’d even finished our appetizer. Usually one of my favorite spots, but this Saturday they were off their game.
Pre-Valentines Day Date. My partner’s order was correct. Mine was wrong. Waiter took so long to return, I ate what I could. He didn’t offer condiments for my baked potato which I assumed would be on the plate and he didn’t give me the correct meat item. I turned to assist my partner with his plate and didn’t notice it was incorrect. The waiter should repeat the orders back so he writes it down correctly. Next time, I will ask the waiter to repeat the order. Unfortunately for me, this also happened the last time we went to the Smoke House.
The service was great, food was excellent, drinks absolutely amazing! Can never go wrong having a nice dinner & evening there! Thank you Smoke House!!
We went for an early Valentines day dinner. The food was good, the prime rib yummy! We’ll definitely return. Pricey but not as expensive as we were thinking about better value than other steak houses in Los Angeles!
I have been going to The Smoke House for over 20 Years
The Key Word Is Consistent Excellent Service , Food , Ambiance.
What can I say? We love coming to this classic restaurant. It is like stepping back in time when the real show business people came to dine. It is so nice to just come to sit in these big booths and enjoy a lunch or dinner.
We have never had a bad meal or slow service. It is a pleasure coming here because every person is so friendly and helpful.
Try the pulled pork sandwich or the burgers for a delightful lunch.
We love The SmokeHouse!
Don't forget the Cheese bread!!!!
My only complaint is that I wish the food was hotter... the prime rib was very cool on a cold plate... hot food hot plate, it's a basic. I want my meat rare, but it doesn't have to be served cold on a cold plate.
But as always the service is lovely.
See Jimmy Angle band play and get food and drinks!
Had a nice time, but the service was TERRIBLE. Our waiter forgot our order and took over 30 min, once seated, to take our drink order.
Seated upon arrival. Love that. Water arrived immediately but took a bit for the waiter to show up. Brought food pretty quickly but he left before we could tell him none of use had silverware. Had to find a bus boy who then dumped a stack of rolled up napkins with silverware in the middle of the table. Other than that we all had an enjoyable evening. I don’t recall the waiter coming back to check on us either sorry to say.
We had a great time and dinner and even saved a little extra with their current promotion. Eat between 4pm and 6pm and save 20%. What a great surprise for eating a little bit early’
Waitstaff disappeared after the food was put on the table. No condiments, no check to see if we needed anything.
Hostess was rude.
Long wait even with making a reservation. Food was great although it was so loud my date ended up having to sit next to me to hear me at all. I had a steak and got dessert after all was great. Good for bigger parties.
Smoke House is an institution and have been going there for 40 years. Food is very good but this time the service was very sketchy. I think it was because the server had too many tables. 4 of the 6 orders came out wrong and the birthday dessert came when we were still finishing our entrees!! The bus staff was wonderful and on top of things...water glasses were always full, plate cleared promptly, etc.! I will write it off as a busier than normal Thursday and will be back.
My fiancé and I went here for a date night. I was really looking forward to the smoke house because of its history, but sadly that’s all it was for our experience. We made a reservation at 8pm but we didn’t sit down until almost 9pm.. I understand places get busy but you shouldn’t take reservations if you don’t plan on keeping it close to the time reserved. First our waitress sat us and tossed the menus down and didn’t even introuduce herself. Walked away and we didn’t see her for awhile after that. When she came back she asked us if we wanted a cocktail, we had asked for the wine list and she reluctantly gave it to us. Only to come back and say “what do you want?” I have been a waitress so I pushed it off giving her the benefit of the doubt. From there we ordered the garlic bread which was good but not anything to write home about. Our waitress continued to be cold. We asked for recommendations and she bushed us off. Our food did come out pretty quickly but she didn’t bring it to us someone Else had. I ordered a filet and he ordered the BBQ plate with three meats. Usually when you order a steak at a decent place they ask you if the meat is cooked the way you ordered, but that didn’t happen in fact she didn’t come back until after we were finished eating and just asked if we wanted another glass of wine. While my filet was cooked well it was extremely bland. My fiancé’s dinner was all well over cooked. For dessert we had the Crème brûlée after she reluctantly got us the dessert tray.
I’m not one to leave bad reviews but this didn’t sit right with me and it has been a few days. I really wish it would have been a better first experience for us.
The food was excellent, would definitely go back . The only problem was the food arrived a bit cold and because of the group we were in didn’t want to send it back and wait. Next time we will make a request to bring it hot even if we have to wait.
Really enjoyed this landmark restaurant. I don't know why the garlic bread was on the tv show 'The Best Thing I Ever Ate', it was good but not that special, but everything else we had was excellent. I had French onion soup, my husband had clam chowder and we shared the beef stroganoff which was plenty for both of us. He also had a beer and our bill came to $49 before tip. We will definitely go back.
Cheese bread was delish. Food ok.
I always love the Smokehouse and my friend also enjoyed it.
My husband’s 75th birthday dinner was lots of fun at smokehouse we always appreciate the reliability of the food the service and the ambience in fact my 20 month little grandson who was getting antsy loved running around in a private room and nobody was there we must have run around the table 20 times.
But it was empty so we did not bother anyone.
Our waiter was great.
I took my husband here for his birthday. We were craving good steak and lobster. I believe they are known for their cheese and garlic bread but I thought it were okay, too much cheese flavor for my taste but husband enjoyed it. Our meals were very good and the portions were plenty. We will definitely be back.
We were there for the Sunday buffet. So much great food!
Great dinner...wonderful waiter (Hector)...sang for our anniversary. Bought pictures. Everyone was very friendly. Liked the valet parking. We'll be back again soon.
Good very good. Wait staff very nice. Hostess somewhat rude and unattentive. Not a great way to start the experience.
Old fashioned, red booth steakhouse. The garlic cheeses toast was exactly like it was 25 years ago as were the wonderful servers!!! I’ll go back.
I have always enjoyed the Smokehouse the ambiance and the food is always great. Many years of special events and good memories.
Enjoyed our experience overall & garlic bread is the best!
We had an 8pm Monday evening dinner so it was not crowded at all. I liked the fact that the entree included a side and vegatable. My daughter and I both had the large cut prime rib medium rare. It was really good. My wife had filet mignon and baked potato with all the toppings. Again, it was good. The desert menu is very appetizing and we had cheese cake and Boston cream pie. Our waiter, Jose, was very attentive AND he had a great sense of humor. I will go back on my next visit to Burbank.
We didn't realized the Smoke House has a Sunday brunch and thought we were going for the regular menu. It is a fabulous brunch--waffle, omelette, crepe, pasta, etc bar, tri-tip, salads, champagne, desserts....We will definitely go back!
The brunch deal is fabulous. Very reasonable price. The champagne is cheap and the orange juice is terrible, but the mimosas are bottomless. My server, Hector, kept our glasses very well refreshed.
Convenient location with easy access, old 50's steak house charm, decent Sunday brunch with good selection for vegetarians and carnivores alike. Roaming photographer eager to catch the moment for just $10 a shot, no pressure. Champagne was free flowing and Jose made sure the birth boy was never thirsty. Valet parking $3.75.... why don't they just ask for $5? Everyone in our diverse dietary group had a good selection to choose from but the highlights were the beet salad, fresh oysters, made to order omelets and waffle bar for dessert. Note: If you make a reservation on line let them know there is a birthday and they will bring out a birthday dessert and sing a song to embarrass your loved one.
Such history. Love the black and white photos and movie posters. Great food too! Can’t wait to come back.
We always enjoy the service that we get when we arrive. This is the way a restaurant should be all the time. Courteous service, great food and wonderful atmosphere.
