The Smith - Midtown Ratings and Reviews
I've been to The Smith downtown and on the UWS. I found this location less of a scene with friendlier service and a more down-to-earth vibe. I was there for a business dinner. Although the atmosphere was not hushed, it was easy to communicate with my colleague without yelling. The food was delicious and portions were generous. The wine recommendation was perfect!
Calamari appetizer very tasty
Pasta with shrimp nicely prepared/presented
Generous helping of shrimp
Chicken dish also very good
Dessert particularly fantastic
Pastry with cream filling/chocolate
Waitress very attentive/professional
Will definitely return
I go to this outpost of The Smith on a fairly regular basis. I usually get a ceasar salad which is very good. Last night was the first time I went on a Wed to try the fried chicken special (only Wed nights) and let me tell you, it was FANTASTIC. Moist, meaty, flavorful, and huge; came with a potatoe waffle, just like it sounds, looks like a waffle but oh, it's make out of potatoe! Looking forward to having 1/2 of it as leftovers this eve. Highly recommened!
I recently had breakfast/brunch at The Smith. The food was delicious, and the portions were very generous. However, it was very busy, noisy, and I felt as if the seats were too close together. It has a great energy if you wish to be in a crowd, but if you want something more intimate and cozy, this is not a good choice.
Exceptional service! The drinks, appetizers, and main course were all very good. The atmosphere was lively and fun, with the exception of one person at a nearby table without a sense of’ volume modulation’. The bartender (Alyssa) and wait staff (Alexia) were particularly extraordinary and I would revisit the location just for their level of service.
I have almost never had an issue with the food at The Smith. However the paella was really done incorrectly. The seafood was all cooked well but the rice was quite wet and the excess of tomatoes made for an almost acidic taste.
The baratta and calamari were quite good and the service was on point.
As always it’s quite loud due to the extensive tile covering in the room, even when not full.
