overpriced for what it is. really, it is nothing more than a fancy diner
Had a great time here with my friends. We loved the cocktails!
Went solely for the viral s'mores dessert I saw on Instagram. Totally worth it. Definitely make a reservation, restaurant is in demand.
Amazing experience, fast service, COVID friendly, can’t complain
It was pack! But great service! Would come back with friends!
Food and drinks were delicious! Tables were spaced out well and I felt comfortable being there.
Wonderful service, delicious and beautiful food, and awesome environment. Not cheap but fair price for excellent experience. I highly recommend!
The Smith never disappoints Even when it makes a mistake it more than makes up for it.
I received an overcooked steak. They saw it changed it immediately brought fresh sides and free food and drink.
They know how to make things right.
The Smith is always consistent in food, service, and ambiance. They have great staff and a fantastic outdoor setup for people to dine comfortably. It is always great!
Service was great she did her steps of service! Food was horrible the worst filet mignon I ever had instead it was two beef patties stacked on top of each other super dry. Also I understand and respect just like anywhere else wearing a mask when walking in or going to the restroom but in the middle of eating you have to wear a mask when the busser/server comes over and stands there until everyone drops there food so we can put a mask on it’s the most ridiculous thing ever. Won’t go back again!
Everyday dining & as always excellent service
The most safe I have felt at a restaurant since covid began. The smith is taking all the precautions and the food is amazing too!
Too many rules about masks being worn at the table when being served. I understand wearing masks around the restaurant or when just seated to order but no reason to keep taking masks on/off—service wait staff was annoyed they had to repeat that a couple of times-we were having a hard time hearing the staff through their masks. The table was not cleaned between lunch and dessert. I physically had to get up to get my own plates and silverware and napkins. For the cost, it was disappointing.
Food and service were great Attentive and delicious. Strongly recommend toall.
Lovely restaurant and menu was great! The wait staff and bus boys were rude and unwelcoming. They made the meal uncomfortable.
Terrible service. Server was never seen after her took our order.
Seemed like they were at 100% seating ....
Overall the restaurant was amazing!!! The workers Oh My Goodness are so so kind. The food is delicious, I totally recommend the fried calamari!! LOL
The Smith is always good! I sat outside so I can’t comment on the noise level.
Great restaurant in the Midtown East neighborhood.
We ate outside w a heater it was perfect!
On the first approach the waitress acted as if we had ebola and frantically gesticulated from 10 feet away that we put the masks on before she would come in. We first were not even paying attention as she was so far away. Mind you we are all vaccinated.
There are signs everywhere that the service is limited and waiters are terrified to approach the customers so you'd better order everything right away.
If I knew any of this I'd never come here. Don't know any other nyc restaurant that is acting this ridiculously.
Bad service. Servers acted like they were going to catch Covid by serving us properly when they decided to come around.
Been there before. Food is good. Nice size serving. Good service.
Food and wait staff were superb. Love the outdoor seating!!
Mask situation understandable but extremely annoying. (I am from a state where diners can keep masks off). I would rather stay home if I had to mask on and off constantly.
Food here always great but the salmon was a disappointment - too much sauce, too many flavors rather than just a great piece of fish.
Lots of great energy as always, servers very nice, ambiance fun vibe.
Impressive Covid protocol. Professional and patient server.
The Smith in Midtown NYC had a nice Brunch menu. The food was very good and the wine list was adequate for a brunch. The server was polite and attentive. When my glass of Pinot Grigio arrived hardly chilled he changed it for another chilled white I requested with no questions asked.
Midtown East may not be known for its restaurant scene but The Smith is up to par with eateries in other neighborhoods in Manhattan. Excellent food and the waitstaff was superb
Great food and service are the reasons I recommend this fine establishment. The coffee and the bloody Mary are both good choices. The avocado toast was gtreat too. Service was spot on.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent!!
Although we were seated right away, it took 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order. So we ordered an appetizer and drinks, which came relatively quick. No one came to take our food order for another 30 minutes. The restaurant is not that full because of COVID so there is really no excuse for the delay in service. A couple that came in 20 minutes after us got their food 30 minutes before our order was taken. It was just bad.
Waitress forgot about our appetizer after taking our order twice. Shrimp was a small portion and overcooked.
Outdoors is lovely thigh indoors can get noisy. Great food and service
It was okay. Ambiance is great this place is always packed but the food is just mediocre. Came here for dinner the other night and wasn’t satisfied with the quality of the food. Burger was alright, brick pressed chicken was good, ricotta gnocchi was eh and the salmon crispy rice was delish. For a seemingly trendy spot I was underwhelmed with the drink list. Seemed like they we’re trying a lil too hard. Keep in mind you must put your mask on when a server comes over. Our server was good and the staff is friendly!
This has been my favorite restaurant for years. It is not the same post pandemic. It’s a shame.
Food is always fine. Just fine., nothing more. Outdoor heating is good and I always feel safe. While I understand wanting to have a touch less payment system, one should be allowed to split a check using more than one credit card or be presented with separate checks in order to use multiple cards. Last week I dined in the Westside location and it was no problem, but this location, or perhaps our waiter was inflexible.
In addition to the food being merely adequate and the issue splitting the check, I was quite ill a few hours after eating. Not sure what caused it, but I will not be dining here again.
We dined outside and loved the space. They’re very Covid safe, and do ask patrons to wear a mask when staff approaches. The food was so delicious and they were accommodating with my four year old too, bringing her a cup with a lid. There is no kids menu but they do have a macaroni and cheese option that was perfect.
We were there for dinner with 4 children- server was very attentive and responsive- dinner was excellent all around. We would definitely recommend and return.
