Very very loud
Everything was great
Too noisy. Couldn't hearciurselves think.
The food and service were both fine
Good food, pleasant service, just very loud. But, young after-work crowd is typically more energetic than I.
The food was very good, but this was a meal for a special occasion (my 50th). I ticked the box at the end of pre-booking our reservation that this was a special occasion. Not once was i asked about this when we arrived, and even when we prompted why we were taking photos.....this didnt seem to prompt anything other than a "enjoy your day". I have never eaten out on a special birthday before, so dont know if am expecting too much, but i was expecting some sort of effort. #disappointed
The environment is very loud due and I was charged an extra $12 for a chicken breast addition to a Cesar salad. A bit much.
Seating wax quick and the hostess was super nice and accomodating. Waiter was very friendly and constantly kept rsfilling out coffees. Food came out quickly and waz reLly delicious. Portions generouz.
Although crowded we were seated immediately with the open table reservation. Noise level for Sunday brunch very high
Great food and quick service is a very good combination!
The food was exceptional but the noise level for a date or special occasion was a little loud. But, I would definitely go back.
Too loud but otherwise good
As a cautious diner with celiac disease this was an exception find! Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable as well as the manager Kevin who assured me safety with my meal. We had the most delicious brunch, and I cannot wait to try The Smith for dinner!
The Smith is always a solid good choice. Oysters are always great and the service is always very good.
This restaurant is too crowded and the noise level is awful
The Smith is an energetic restaurant with good food and reasonable prices. It can get incredibly loud.
The food and service were good but the noise level was airport runway level. Very difficult to talk.
The hostess wasn’t as gracious as the usual hostess otherwise all consistent
Mussels were AMAZING and enough for 3 people. I hated to not finish them, but I just couldn't do it!
The food and service is consistently good. We had a small problem with our appetizer and main course arriving at the same time, but the waiter was apologetic. Be forewarned - this place is very popular and gets very loud, making it hard to carry on a conversation.
Always a pleasure eating at the Smith. Great food, great wine, great consistency no matter how many times we go. It’s a go-to for a great meal, a fun night out (great cocktails!), and sure to please for out of town guests to give them a flavor of a busy, top-notch New York dining spot. We love being close enough to consider ourselves “regulars.”
We had an unexpected delay and they worked with us to move our large group to a later time. So kind and helpful. Waitstaff was attentive and patient, courteous and prompt. Food as always delicious. Highly recommend!
Always a great brunch!
Quick late night bite ; small space ; super loud ; decent food
Making a reservation makes a difference. We were taken to our table right away, service was on point, despite how busy the restaurant was.
Too loud. Could hear each other unless we screamed. Portions were too large.
Went to brunch with my grandmother visiting from out of town. Always a great hit, love coming here. There’s something for everyone and they do it well. Big portions.
Reservation was not available on time.
We got in early but were missing 1 person so they didnt sit us. When the person came on time they still made us wait.
So they didnt sit us early because of missing person and didnt sit us on time because they had no tables .. Kinda of a miss management.
I know some places do that but i just avoid those places and wouldnt recommend to a friend.
Had a very nice dinner on a Friday night at The Smith. We were seated promptly for our reservation and had a great server who was attentive without being intrusive. The food was tasty - we had creamy burrata with cherry tomatoes with pesto sauce plus the tuna tartare to start and we were both seduced by the scallop special of the day. Their wine list was quite satisfying. My only complaint - and it's not really a complaint per se - is that the noise level was quite "energetic". Not the location for a deep conversation with someone you haven't seen in a while. But otherwise a good time!
The wwaitress did not bring me a fork or knife the entire meal even though asked multiple times. None of the shared portions had serving spoons, even after asked. Plates and glasses seamed dirty.
The food was above average and plentiful. service was fine as well. The problem with brunch was the noise level. You could not hear the person speaking 6 inches from your ear.
Came for brunch. Have been to The Smith many times in different areas of the city and food is always delicious, albeit expensive. Place is extremely noisy-at any location you go to-but we at in back room which is not as loud.
Overall, a great meal!
I personally think that The Smith is overrated. The food is not good. Unsalted and no taste at all.
The service is not fast. I had to ask for my coffee 3 times until it came. The waiters are super nice, but the food is not tasty and I left my whole Eggs Benedict on my plate. Don’t go, go spend tour money somewhere else
Very nice place, the ambiance was really cool and relaxing and the food had high promise. I got the breakfast pot pie, it was okay, not thrilled with the food for how much it costs but my friends got the eggs benedict which was good and the vanilla bean French toast was also good.
Googled top 10 brunch in Manhattan! Balthazar’s is my favorite! Was just expecting a nicer experience! Just a good everyday meal! Good food! Good service! Not white table experience!!
