The waitress was excellent. The maitre de was completely uninterested in even looking for the reservation. The food was ok. We were seated way in the back like the cousin you don’t want anyone to see or meet. This was surprising given we made a reservation, there were many tables in the front, and we are generous tippers. I suspect that the restaurant is anti women with gray hair.
I will never go back to the restaurant and will make sure I share that view with everyone I know who is going to the Lincoln center even though I’m certain the owners will not care.

The food is always delicious. But, I do not enjoy eating on top of total strangers or having to stop eating to move my table so the person to the left and right of me could exit his/her seat. We had to wait a bit for water and for condiments for coffee.

I was actually referred to this restaurant by a friend who understands my disdain for imperfection so I came with high hopes and my experience was exceptional. Upon arrival I noticed there were so many guest you could barely get in the door which usually means two things this is a really good spot and it’s going to be awhile. I had a reservation so that wasn’t the case for me. As soon as my guest arrived I notified them of my reservation and within minutes we were seated. I had a few bags with me and our waitress immediately offered to check them free of charge. The food selection was excellent and when it arrived was very tasty. I was extremely satisfied with my visit to The Smith in Midtown and will most certainly be returning. Thank you!

It was a very unfriendly welcoming. Our first impression of this restaurant was less than ideal. We reserved a table for 12:15 and we were told to wait while our table was getting prepared. All the while, other groups were being seated. The table that was prepared was very small for six although we accepted it knowing the place was busy. We all gathered for a birthday and not once did anyone ask us why we were there. What is recommended? How we were doing? Not ONE Thank You!! We were told , “ nobody’ wants dessert or anything?” We go out as a group frequently and we will not go there again. @ Welcoming host: it’s not difficult to welcome people. It’s not difficult to smile. Think about that when you do your job. Pretend that it’s everyone’s first impression of you and your restaurant. Your face is the face of the restaurant when people walk in. Practice some empathy. Please remember that.

Wonderful discovery! Took myself and 6 friends here for a celebration lunch at the midtown location. Everyone loved it. Every plate was cleaned. The food was delicious. Between the 7 of us, we had six different dishes and two desserts. I recommend the cod sandwich with either the house made chips or fries. And the mussels are excellent! For dessert, we shared the “birthday” cake (a chocolate delight) and a sticky toffee pudding. Both were fantastic! The atmosphere at The Smith is warm and bright with dark wood tables set against gleaming white subway tile walls. Lots of natural light, too. The place feels inviting and fun. We had excellent service as well. Prices are moderate to high-ish, typical New York, but not outrageous. So glad to have found this place. Will go again, for sure.

Was great last year when I experienced it for the first time and the place was very busy where as this year there was barely anyone in the restaurant. This year I don't know what happened. Service was not good, server not very happy. Sicilian baked eggs were over cooked. Not good.

Good experience. My only complaint was about seating. Had a party of two and was seated between two tables. Seating was tight and had to move tables to get in. Would have liked more room between tables.

My husband and I were meeting friends from out of Town at the Smith. The menu was amazing, the food was delicious! We started with the Tuna Poke and it was by far one of the best poke's I have ever had. I had the salmon and my husband had the muscles. The portions are a perfect size. The fish was so fresh and delicious! The food was perfection.

I would highly recommend the Smith- Midtown for any occasion. The atmosphere is fantastic, everyone was very friendly and the menu has a little bit of everything. Can't wait to go back.

It was super packed inside with everyone trying to stay warm from the 17degree cold. We had reservations-but they require everyone in the party to be there before seating. There was a waiting list for those without reservations and the wait was approx. 30min. so not too bad. We came for brunch and ordered the pancakes, the croissant breakfast, the eggs benedict, and eggs any style breakfast. We absolutely loved the potatoes-great seasoning. All the dishes were yumm. There were all these bottles of liquor covering the wall- it was quite lovely. Made me wonder what happy hour had to offer. Will definitely consider returning again in the future.

THE SMITH chain is generally reliable. However, the Midtown location seemed more chaotic and disorganized than other locations. It might have been seasonal tourists and large crowds, but the food was consistent with my expectations.
