Try the omelet especially the goat cheese and egg white one also great French toast and pancakes too nice raw bar. Friendly fast service reasonable prices too
Perhaps the most annoying feature of this restaurant - and it’s not the first time - is the noise level in the restaurant. Of course the sound of people talking is never a problem but when the struggle to overcome the noise of the music the din reaches to uncomfortable levels.
The food is pretty good and everybody was happy with their choices. The service was very pleasant although our waitress kept saying “take your time” and disappear for extended periods of time even though we told her that we have to leave to the theater. All ended well so we felt generous.
It could have been much better ...
I’m fairly well traveled and it’s Always deliciously consistent-good cocktails to starters to mains to desserts if a little loud : )
The tuna tartare, salmon tartare , burrata and shishito pepper appetizers were great.
The vegetable bibimbap was ok. Was missing something to make it an above average dish.
The house Pinot was ok and a little overpriced for what it was. Should have went with the bottled option instead.
Would go back again.
We were seated right away.
The Burrata salad was awesome.
We ordered the pasta dishes and several were pretty spicy.
My mom and I had a late lunch so it was pretty quiet. We received great service and the food came quickly and was delicious as usual. The Smith is definitely my NYC go-to for casual lunch or dinner. I've never had a bad meal or bad service no matter what time of day or how busy they are.
Very loud and chaotic. But good for fast lunch.
Please bring croissants back. BLTE on the new bun is not the same.
Fun atmosphere! Mac n cheese was amazing! Salmon was delicious. Chicken pot pie hardly had any chicken and veggies were underdone. Overall would recommend!
Great breakfast options! I've been for lunch, but breakfast is also delicious.
The hamburgers were very good but the steaks were well done while we requested medium rare
Excellent food, prices and ambiance. Totally recommended to visit.
Good table. Good food and service. Accommodating. Will revisit.
Always amazing. One of my favorite go-tos.
Food was cold. Despite asking for decaf the waiter poured what I believe was not decaf coffee because he then filled other cups with the same coffee. Very disappointing.
Service very rushed but she slowed down once we mentioned it. Entree came out when half way through appetizers. Food was delicious.
Outstanding but terribly noisy!
I love “The Smith”. First time @ the 51 & 2nd ave restaurant. Usually go to the one across the street from Lincoln Center. I just wish the noise level wasn’t so high.
Really good food and very good service but very hard to have a conversation over the din of all over diners. Very noisy. A shame really.
Good cost performance‼︎
However a little noisy...
Super accommodating and careful re: my no gluten diet. The server was attentive and even brought over the manger to discuss what was safe for me to eat. Food was outstanding and vibe super cool.
Great food!! Nice selection of apps , sides and entrees. Second time here and it was as good as I remembered. Will recommend and visit when I am in town in the future.
Prepared for noise level but they did best to accommodate to quieter seating
Like variety of menu
Service very good
I was there for a business lunch. Ambiance and decor was perfect. Environment was perfect for a meeting. Table and space between tables was great as they were able to grant my request of good table for a meeting. Food was also very good. Moderate portion sizes were appropriate and price was expected being in Manhattan.
Comfort food with good sized portions in a very loud setting. Not inexpensive
We wanted to try this place as part of our visit to NYC. We were seated in a rear dining section near walkway into dining area, my chair was literaly located in the middle of the 4 ft walkway. It was not crowded so I asked if we could be moved, and pointed to one of the 4 empty tables along the wall. The waitress pointed to a table next to a noisy family and said we could sit there. We declined and got up and left. Attitude was that they really did not care if we were going to eat there or not. We went to Mimi's down the street.
Warm welcome and fast seating. Service was a little mistimed with some dishes arriving not in sync. Waiting service was on point and friendly. Decor and atmosphere was friendly.
It took almost a 1/2 hour to be seated despite having a reservation. The noise level in the main dining area was very high. The mitigating benefit was excellent food.
My food was burnt.
The Smith Midtown is our go to weekend brunch spot. Always consistent, always delicious, never disappoints.
They honor Open Table Reservations even though many people are waiting. Front desk girls very friendly. Today our server seemed to hate. his. job. But the order was correct and each guest received the proper plate without asking so that’s a big plus.
I ordered a peach Bellini and I’ve had much better ones at other places. If we were going for a boozy brunch we’d choose somewhere else. But we will continue to use The Smith as our go to spot otherwise.
Large party (10ppl) bunch was great. Friendly, accommodating staff (we had two grandparents in walkers) and solid service. Food was solid, served hot and accurate...had a couple persnickety food orders. Our 3rd time at the Smith, 1st at this location and its always fun. Will go back for sure.
Enjoy The Smith - good value for New York where everything is expansive! Spaghetti Meatballs on a Sunday were great!
Always good food at The Smith. The consistency of the food and the quality of the service is the key, imo. I had the shrimp cocktail, which was excellent! My husband RAVED about the calamari! The skirt steak and eggs were great. Drinks always good, just the way I like them! The best thing about this visit was the hostess Jenny who remembered me from a previous visit and Felix, our waiter, who was a pleasure. I love that the staff is there long-term. It says a lot about the management. They have gotten good service down to a science, something which I find rarely nowadays! Def will be back.
Fun environment with incredible food. Huge servings, nicely presented with pleasant service. Will definitely be back!
The front desk staff and servers were remarkably rude. It seemed to almost be a directive from management to be dismissive of patrons. The food is good but after a couple different abrasive comments from restaurant employees I would not go back.
The food was tasty. The place is super loud.
Had a great Sat brunch. Food and cocktails were yummy. Mac and cheese to die for. A little noisy because so popular, it was packed at 11am. Make a Rez!
My party of 8 had a reservation made 5 days prior to the lunch date. However, upon arrival we were told that it would be a few minutes to be seated. The wait was 15 minutes.
Food it’s always testy I which they had a quieter rooms
Food and service were excellent. They put us at a deuce when we had 3 people. They were busy so it is understandable. It has an energetic vibe, but with all the hard surfaces the loud voices bounced around a lot making it noisy overall. Good location for groups to meet, not so much for a romantic dinner.
