The Smith - Midtown Ratings and Reviews
Service and food were outstanding. We ordered the short ribs, Caesar salad, and tomato soup and split amongst 2 of us. The portions were hefty and delicious. Would definitely recommend to locals and visitors alike. Prices were on par with high end restaurants back where we’re from (South Florida).
Very lively, energetic vibe. We got there over an hour early for our reservation and they were able to seat us immediately which was great...we were starving! The service was good but a bit curt and distracted. All the food we ordered was great...the eggs were cooked to gooey perfection just the way i love them! Elaborate and inventive menu. I was a bit taken aback by the extremely dreary bathroom...firstly the fact that you walk down this pitch dark staircase that looks so sketchy that i actually hesitated and thought "this must not be right"...but i pushed ahead and when i got to the bottom of the stairs realized that a) I was either in the men's room or b) it is a co-ed bathroom. But back to the decor...looked like some kind of mental institution bathroom with plain white tile floor to ceiling, each stall had a door with a bald light bulb on top, trough sink....not sure what they were going for....if it was depressing....nail hit!
My husband and I dine out often, all over the country. This is one of the best restaurants we have ever been to. Everything was exceptional from the food to the drinks and the staff. We would also like to say that the manager Brittany was outstanding. We will definitely be back!
Very crowded, extremely loud, don't even think of not having a reservation. Staff was very friendly, and the food was very good, filling and abundant. The waiter tried to push extra food which luckily we declined as we could barely finish our meal.
We each had only a main course and drank water, the bill was in the 80 range, four people. Any extras would have pushed us over $100
Food and service were very good. My son has nut allergies and I was impressed that his food came out with red toothpick flags so they must take care not to cross contaminate food for customers with food allergies. Only downside of this restaurant is it is very noisy with the tile floors and walls but the food was very tasty so I would definitely return again.
Food was amazing! Had the chicken and waffle special and the pressed chicken. Both were fantastic! Cocktails were tasty as well. Great portion size. My only complaint is the servers were hard to come by! Literally the bus boy came to our table 5 times more than the server. Would definitely go back
I have a few rare food allergies and this restaurant was extremely accommodating to them. The waiter immediately checked with the kitchen on the entree I selected, and and manager came out to reassure me that they take allergies very seriously. Not only was this a comfortable dining experience, but the food was incredible! I ordered the brick chicken and my boyfriend had a hamburger. Both meals were juicy and flavorful. We ended our night with their chocolate chip cookies which were absolutely perfect and homemade.
Continue to find The Smith Midtown as my go to place when visiting NYC,. Went to Brunch this time but have also gone for dinner as well. Inventive menu, lots of options which work for even picky eaters. Appetizers are great, try the homemade potato chips with blue cheese fondue, amazing.
For brunch, the Breakfast pot pie was fabulous as was the french toast. Presentation is great, portions are good size and everyone finished everything.
Service is very attentive, even during a very busy brunch period. Had a reservation and was seating right on time and hostess was good at letting us know status right away. Ambiance is casual but love the subway tile look and industrial feel.
Highly recommend for dinner dining too. Steak was good as is the calamari and sea scallops.
Love it here!
My family and I had been to the Broadway location several weeks ago, and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. I was pleased when my wife suggested we go back. After I made the reservation I realized that we were going to the Midtown location. Well, we weren't disappointed. The food, atmosphere and service was great, and we had an another enjoyable time out.
Food was good, not great. Hear tomatoe soup was fabulous! My dinner came out ice cold. Like the varied menu, but the restaurant is so loud that could barely hear the people sitting next to me. They need to do something about the noise level as it definitely impacted the evening.
