The Smith Burger was spectacular
Good food as always, however they forgot about my friend’s dish and the waiter, Felix, said the kitchen “messed up” when we thought he just forgot to put it in. We’ve had this guy before and he’s a bit short tempered which is really annoying. Also, if you’re planning to pay your bill with two credit cards (which we have ALWAYS done up until last week since I’m here all the time) now apparently u can’t bc they want contactless payment. (why they’re doing this only now is beyond me) but either way, only one card can be used and whoever you’re with will need to pay u cash/venmo u etc. otherwise, always a good and loud time !
Great vibes all around; waiter a bit inattentive and still overall super lovely; and delicious!
Amazing food, amazing outdoor seating, and such great drinks. Overall had the time of my life!
Great selection of drinks. Food is good. Enjoyed shrimp and grits. NY strip was yummy! Fries are very good!!
Do yourself a favor and go now for a pot of mussels and fries! Heaven
The food was delicious! My pancakes were so fluffy, and the lemon scones with strawberry cream are amazing. My husband really enjoyed his eggs Benedict, too.
Great food good service
I eat here all the time and they forgot my meal, food didn’t have taste and just had really poor service.
Great place overall, unfortunately we had a bad server this time.
Initially was going to sit outside, but found their middle-of-the-road island a bit too noisy and smogy. But they were happy to find us a nice booth inside. The food was good. Waiter friendly and attentive even though they were busy. It's a pretty space too. I think my girlfriend and I were 20 years older than the other patrons, but what else is new? Didn't bother me. A nice meal overall.
Food was amazing. Drinks were lovely. Sal, our server, was great!
Appetizers and main course came at the same time, which is a pet peeve. But not typical for this place. Otherwise, always reliable food.
Solid, consistent, busy but not noisy, great service, plenty of options for food and drink without anything being done halfway
Food ok, though not as ordered. Service below par. Disappointed to say least
I love The Smith and have eaten at several of their locations. Food is great and service quick even when they are swamped.
It's a great place for brunch even though it is touristy and there are lots of other small brunch places in the city but I love this place.
Great ambiance and love the bottle art that covers whole walls.
Went for brunch with the fam. Have been here about a million times and noticed how much busier it was this time. We waited a ridiculously long time for our food (40 mins) which is unacceptable and was abt to speak to the manager when our food came. Food was good all around; we had the omelette, avocado toast, spicy salmon tartare and side salads and bread. Waitress was nice although you could tell she was running all over the place bc there are consistently not enough waitstaff. Always covid friendly, boisterous ambiance and so overall we had a good time. The long wait time for food was the only downfall.
We visited The Smith twice during our first trip back to NYC since lockdown. We were not disappointed! The entire staff is welcoming and gracious, helpful with suggestions. This extended from Manager Rebecca at the front of the house; Sal our very enthusiastic waiter who was flawless (even though it was only one of his first days on the job) to a female bartender (so sorry that we can’t remember her name!) who patiently answered all our nosey questions about what liquors were used and how things were made. Manhattan No 2 is a drink we are still trying to recreate at home.
The food was FANTASTIC! We highly recommend the Toasted Sesame Hummus, the Burrata, the Smith Burger. So good!
This was convenient to our hotel and was met with praise from our multi-generational dining party. We will be back. Thanks, Team The Smith for a great lunch and dinner out!
Great food and great service! It really is a nice vibe inside, and I recommend eating here.
Food was delicious as always and drinks were fantastic. My friend and I ordered 3 appetizers and drinks and sat outside. We were looking for a cocktail and bar snacks experience. We sat outside around the corner- it was a nice evening. My friend decided he was still hungry and I ordered a salad and another drink to be polite. The salad and drink combined were equal to an price of an entrée.
I took a star off because the waiter negged me for ordering a small main and then brought it out 15 minutes before my friend's food. It's not as if we were being cheap, the bill was already well over $100 before entrees. I didn't appreciate the unnecessary pressure when I was just trying to relax and hang out.
Food was tasty. Busy restaurant and I think the waiter likely had too many tables to juggle. We had to wait a bit for our food and okay with that. Second glass of wine never delivered. But would go there again.
Super horrible service. Ordered coffee that hadn’t even arrived after we had eaten our appetizers and were halfway through our main course, so canceled the coffee. Took 15 minutes for a waiter to even come over to our table after we initially seated. Definitely will not be going back!
Always great but requested window in reservation and got booth. I thought it was in my profile to never have booth.
Great food, fast, friendly staff . Got to sit outside. Fun and energetic vibe.
I’ve eaten at other The Smith locations before and enjoyed the food. The Midtown location was a disappointment. My brunch dish - eggs benedict in a skillet on top of “cheesy” cornbread - was absolutely terrible. Dry, flavorless, and the cornbread was hard. My dinner companion had the same dish and he was disappointed too. Also, the waitstaff BARELY came by to check on us. We had to flag him down. And finally, being on busy 2nd Avenue is a bit nerve wracking. I know there isn’t much you can do about your location or the fast & loud traffic, but we were nervous and on-the-ready to flee if a mack truck (or a speeding biker from the bike lane) suddenly careened into the seating area.
Love this place! Though I do miss not having the deep fried green beans on the menu!
Delicious food and awesome service . My go-to while in Midtown East!
very noisy, but we got used to it! great salad with shrimp, new server but he was learning fast
We really enjoyed our meal. Food and ambiance was great!
Not too many good appetizer choices but ambience is great!
Nice to place to each for both lunch and dinner. Affordable pricing and good quality of meal.
Food was incredible- nothing we wouldn’t order again and look forward to having it on a next visit- and the bartender service was excellent as well. We are sad that combined with this we had a two hour dining experience due to the barely-there server presence. Our server took about 20 minutes to approach our table and didn’t tell us prior to then or when he approached that we were supposed to scan our menu by QR code. We were then left another 15 minutes or so to decide on apps and second round drinks and then the same type of pattern ensued with longer waits. We were waiting about a half hour to order our main course overall. We will be back for the food at the Chicago Smith but hoping the service there is much better.
Great service and food from out of town!
The Smith is our go to restaurant in NYC. We usually enjoy everything but yesterday was just "meh". I had to send back my first dish which after a dozen visits has never happened to us before. As always, service was great and they brought me something else pretty quickly. And the manager double checked on my daughter's food allergies which we always appreciate. We love the Smith and we will be back. Just a bit surprised that our experience was less than amazing this time.
You can’t go wrong with the Smith, great food always. Ok so you may need to wave down the wait staff but all in all very good. This is a staple for Jax and I, we work around the block and travel in from LIC for brunch. If you’re thinking of trying it…..then definitely try it
Outdoor seating was nice and quiet. A little hot
Awesome food and experience !
Service was wanting. Server took our order and left. Had to wait on drinks and the order was slow coming out of the kitchen. Food was delivered by bus staff not by the waiter.
The service was slow. It was like we were the forgotten table. Others who say after us had their food long before we did and it was difficult to get a waitperson’s attention
The food here is consistently rock-solid and the service at my last visit was exceptional. The Smith can be quite noisy, but it gets the food and the service just right. The oysters were perfect -- shucked without draining their beautiful brine, and the heel cut to slide right out. Honestly, it was a close-to-perfect dining experience.
