Great breakfasts and coffee. The baked eggs, potatoes and eggs Benedict were delicious
Great service and happy to be in a relatively quiet corner of what is a noisy restaurant.
We go all the time, round table was perfect for a large group. Always love the pasta and get the great gatsby, worth it
We love it here ! Have returned each trip back to the city
We had a friend in town visiting and The Smith is one of our favorite restaurants within walking distance.
It broke my heart that they were out of the brioche and the pot pie - which I came for - but it was very tasty and the waitress was awesome.
Service was amazing!
We went for Sunday brunch! There is no bad news...the food was delicious, the menu was expansive, and the cocktails were excellent.
The wait staff was attentive but not intrusive. And try to save room for desert...you will not be disappointed.
Our waitress was ridiculous. My husband asked for french fries as his side to his sandwich. When he got it they had given him salad and he told her. She rang in another order for fries for $10!!! It was her mistake, not his. Would not take it off our bill.
When our table was late they were extremely apologetic and served us some appetizers on the house while we waited for our food. The waitress, staff and manager were extremely professional
I’ve been to the Smiths at UWS and Nomad and love both! Despite a big crowd, staff are efficient in handling reservations and quick to serve. Food is always consistently good and that’s why this is one of my favorite chains.
La comida y el servicio muy bueno lugar grande con mucho ruido pero 100% recomendado
Perfect dining for our last night in NYC. Jen, our server, was amazing!!! Very attentive, kind, and fun! Recommend the cucumber loco. Best drink ever.
The restaurant was very lively. Almost too lively since we had a very hard time hearing our server or each other. The food was amazing. The steak was perfectly prepared medium rare. Our server was very helpful and friendly. We had a wonderful time before seeing the Rockettes!
Yes, I took my family to The Smith for a lunch before checking out the holiday decorations on 5th Avenue. The food and drinks were great. The only thing I would deduct a few points for is the noise level. It was difficult to hear everyone at the table at times, and would not be a good date night option. Other than that, we had a blast.
Great place for a weekend brunch! Menu is diverse and delish. Staff is always wonderful and attentive.
Love the food at The Smith especially the fries which are amazing. The eggs were cooked perfectly but the ham was very salty. Service was excellent even though they were packed.
-We were seated 15 minutes late, with no apologies or a word from the host.
-We ordered a steak, medium-well and got a rare piece of meat. Also, we didn't get a steak knife with our dish and the waiter was no where to be found. When we told the waiter about the raw steak, they came with a small plate and took only the steak, and left us the dirty plate on the table.
-The hamburger we ordered had so much pepper it wasn't edible.
At the end, they haven't charged us for those two dishes, but still the experience was awful and we won't be coming back.
Waited for over 45 minutes past our reservation time, to make this even more of a ball drop we had 2 young kids with our group. I used to love going here back in the day and was super disappointed to see the Smith packing in guests to the point of not being able to honor your reservation. Also I used to love the shrimp and grits here but unfortunately that arrived over cooked and cold :(. The Smith has really gone down hill. If you’re not going to change your menu for 10 years at least deliver a quality meal. Done w this spot.
Food and service were both terrific. Drink menu is just large enough and has variety as does the menu itself. was seated quickly but as it got later I could tell the place was getting more and more packed so a reservation is a definite good idea!!
One of my favorite New York City restaurants Vanoven too. The waitress was amazing, the food was incredible, highly recommend!
As always the experience was wonderful. I have a food allergy and the staff was amazing to make sure they informed the chef and got me something I could eat. The drinks are always great and the atmosphere is perfect regardless if you are going for dinner or lunch!
Extremely noisy, would not recommend going to the restaurant if you have any intention of carrying on a conversation
Always a pleasure coming to the smith. The midtown location is the perfect size and the staff is amazing. I am going back tonight for drinks because of my experience yesterday!
Good menu, limited salad choices. The steak salad had limited steak. Outside of this everything was very good. Service is very good.
Great place for a relaxed family dinner. Dessert was a must at this one too.
Eh, it’s ok. Bread served with the meal not that good. Stay away from the coffee.
the foods are tasty, servers are kind and nice.lolol
We went for brunch on Sunday and the food was fabulous and well presented. The restaurant is large and can become a bit noisy but we had a fabulous table in the corner And got there early enough. A server was from Indiana and was extremely attentive.
Though it is pricy, the food here is truly excellent! The Sicilian eggs and smoked salmon and poached egg sandwich were stellar, my friend and I split each and it was one of the best breakfasts/brunches I've had in a long time! The place is rather busy and a bit packed, but not surprising due to the food being delicious. Folks filter in and out pretty quickly. This was a visit to NYC for me and my friend and it was a 10-minute walk for us to get here. I highly recommend this for folks visiting the city from out of town!
We also got the bloody mary, it was pretty decent but nothing out of the ordinary. I liked that it wasn't too salty, more like a horseradish and citrus mix. The lattes, which we got to go, weren't the greatest, the espresso was on the bitter side, so that's the only part I couldn't recommend. Food is amazing, though!
The Smith is a great staple restaurant. Bit expensive but large portions and consistently excellent food and service.
Unfortunately this was not a good meal out at the smith - salmon was rancid, service mediocre and overall wish we had stayed in. This was one of my favorite local brunch and dinner spots but I will be giving it a miss from now on
We’d eaten there once before & liked it enough to want to return. The surprise was how large it is—we‘d previously sat in the long narrow section in front & didn’t see the rest.
Food was outstanding! The tomato soup with the melted cheddar on top was outrageous! One friend had the pot pie & said it was great. A cheeseburger also got really good marks. Service was efficient and gracious.
I have been going to the smith for several years whenever I’m in NYC. It never disappoints for brunch, dinner or late night.
Food was fabulous as well as the service. Highly recommend this place!!!
Wonderful experience. Great atmosphere and terrific food. Had to change reservation details multiple times, which they accommodated without a hitch. Gave us the choice of table (that was available at the time). Comfort food at its best was exactly what we needed for the Thanksgiving holiday. Would/will recommend to anyone.
Thanksgiving at The Smith was a fabulous dinner- no hyperbole but it was superb in every way. The turkey & fixings were fantastic because they were excellent executions without unnecessary recipe changes. The BEST part was midnight snack of leftovers! The cocktails were lovely, and the appetizers were tasty in their own right (not just lame starters to get to the real meal). The restaurant was busy but not painfully crowded (a la Manhattan holiday) and our server had an authentic smile and great vibe. We will definitely be back again and TBH, we’ve been to a lot of restos over the years and this might have been the best.
We did thanksgiving dinner here. All I can say is “wow”!! Impressed with the staff, the food, everything. Well done. I highly recommend the Smith!!
