Very enjoyable evening marking the New Year.

Our server wanted to close out our bill because there was s shift change. We were told that we could still order more drinks/food once we did that. However, when we tried they told us no and that we would have to put our names on the reservation list again and wait. Had we known this we would not have closed out our tab and would have continued to order more drinks/food.

We had brunch at the midtown east location. Outdoor seating was well spaced/separated and sufficiently heated. I’ve always liked the food, and the preparation and execution continue to be good. Service was excellent from the reservationist to the wait staff. Policy requiring diners to wear a mask when waiters or staff take orders, deliver orders or clear dishes was actually very reassuring in terms of their strict adherence to the safety protocol.

Amazing outdoor seating during covid, lots of tables and space, heaters are powerful and cozy! Recommend a reservation during weekend brunch.

We celebrated my birthday yesterday. The receptionist lady was mean. She was friendly when she welcomed us and seated us outdoors at the very end near the corner of the street. When I came back to tell her to have a busser clean the floor (there was food all over), she YELLED at me and said, “Wait til I seat these guests!” When she finally came back to me, I said, “I’m sorry, it’s my birthday, are you alright? I didn’t mean to offend you.” The busser came, with the same attitude, as if he didn’t appreciate cleaning the floor. The only reprieve was our server, Juan. He was so friendly.

The food is excellent and the service is good. We ate outside due to COVID regulations which was quite chilly but they do the best they can with the outdoor space heaters etc., couldn’t have asked for more.

The Smith is my go-to spot for lunch w friends. Our host took our drink order and when we asked for a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, he asked if we’d prefer the carafe. Shame on me for not checking, but I assumed it would be descent wine and priced competitively to the bottle. Turns out it was nasty wine and was $81 - a lot higher than a $60 bottle. Bourgeois problems. Times are tough for the restaurant biz, so maybe this helps support it. The other wait staff was amazing.

Food was excellent. Had some interesting appetizers such as roasted delicata squash. Sticky toffee pudding is to die for. Staff seemed like they were short-staffed but they were very apologetic. Priced reasonably for New York City. I would go back when I'm in town

We really admired the care for our and their health and safety without affecting the dining experience. Plus, the prix lunch fix was amazing.

Food here is fantastic! The mac and cheese is to die for. I was also very impressed with their COVID-19 safety precautions. Every single worker waited until your mask was on before they approached your table and inside the restaurant everything was properly socially distanced.

Outside brunch on a chilly day, the heat lamps helped a lot. The French toast was amazing and I really appreciated the consistent Covid practices and quick, friendly service. Will be back!

We were really impressed with their Covid protocols. We went here because they allowed brunch reservations for outdoor dining. It was well spaced. They checked temps and got addresses for contact tracing. And the wait staff would not approach tables if guests weren’t wearing masks (you could take off as soon as they left). It felt safe for us and them. We tipped well!

Asking me to put on a mask when I’m outside is unnecessary. The staff has a mask and I shouldn’t have to put one on to interact with staff. And even when I’m sitting down! What in the world? I have to put on a mask when the staff approached me?! This is the only place that has done this and I would not come back unless the policy changes. No thanks.

The beat is their COVI protocol! Felt safe and taken care off, the potatoes as an entree the best!

Very happy to see that The Smith is enforcing the social distancing and mask wearing rules so well! The food was excellent, as was the service. We had a very enjoyable experience which was enhanced by the safe precautions. Kudos to the management for being so socially responsible.

The servers looked miserable while working. They were also too aggressive about waiting to serve customers as we kept taking off our masks to eat and then quickly putting them back on while the servers stared at us, waiting to serve. Not enjoyable.

I was there for Thanksgiving Dinner, the only thing that bothered me is that every time a staff member came to the table everyone had to put our face masks/face covering back on otherwise they would not serve you. While understanding the safety protocol, it was a little annoying. Other than that, everything was amazing. Loved the food.

The whole process felt very safe. We were able to eat outside in open air and the servers wouldn’t approach if customers weren’t wearing masks so I felt better knowing they were safe, too.
