Service wonderful& robust flavor abound on the menu. Great mix of dishes that allow offerings worth the time and money
Food wS great. Large portions and very hip atmosphere
Definitely the place to be for brunch! Luckily I made reservations for us. I didn't think they were necessary but they were most definitely. It is a great place to have brunch! We additionally liked it because I spotted a corner seat getting up and chose to wait for that table. Otherwise we would have been have crammed. I do recommend the place based on food, service and atmosphere. The part that may get in the way for some is the noise level and the seating arrangement. Tables are sometimes too close together. I hate that! So it makes for a difficult time having to speak with the person across from you who you came with but an easy time to bond with the person next to you who you didn't come with!
I had reservations, and was asked to wait 15 mins, which was fine. I told the hostess that we’d be at the bar, and she said she’ll come get us. After about 20 mins I got a text saying my table is ready, and went to ask the hostess if the table is indeed ready, and she said it was. I got my husband to pay the bar tab and come, and we had to wait for another 15 mins. Poor service and poor communication for a restaurant with just average quality of food. Never going back, will not refer anyone.
Great brunch. We had an open table reservation so were seated right away but the entry was sooo crowded it was giving me anxiety. Coffee cane came quick and food was as ordered. Nice place to meet with friends.
Great Sunday brunch! Get a reservation because the wait was insane when we left at 10:30am (but we were seated right away with a reservation).
The food was delicious and the service was great. It was a little loud, but partially because it was packed and groups were enjoying Sunday Brunch. We made a reservation through open table and were seated immediately upon arriving (which was great, especially since there was a crowd of hungry eaters waiting the entire time we were there!) I suggest making a reservation and you'll have an enjoyable time and a great meal!
Delicious food and many choices. Took my niece and boyfriend here from North Carolina and they loved the atmosphere and the menu. We had a 9:00 am reservation on Sunday and by the time we left the line to get in was long. Will definitely be back.
Excellent brunch! Savory & sweet options.
The food is absolutely delicious. The calamari is a must as well as the ricotta gnocchi! My boyfriend got the squid ink pasta. He loved it!
Love the Smith ! Always stop by when in New York. Food is awesome. The atmosphere is fun. Service was efficient.
Mostly it was good. Too close to the door when doors stay open. A little chilly. Service seemed a little rushed.
Great food and service. Would definitely come back for brunch here.
I love your Resturant enough said I’d dine there every chance I get
Always an enjoyable experience with very good quality food and service. Of note if desiring you have dinner conversation or a quieter meal will be challenged. Due to design ie hard surfaces and density of diners sound levels are high. Otherwise excellent choice in midtown for upscale casual.
Never been but everyone says to experience it once. The host was very good to my elderly mom with a walker. We were a half hour early so she found a chair for her while we waited by the bar, which was very crowded. The food is typical bar food which is what was expected. The chocolate chip cookies were excellent but the cold coffee took away from the enjoyment. All in all a good night with family!
I was looking for a place that would please multiple personalities. So here are my thoughts..
The pros: service staff was attentive but not cloying. The bartender was lovely while I was waiting - gave me good tips on the menu and I loved the Smokey Margarita. I think the people that ordered a meat based meal were very happy with their meal
The cons: we were seated near the window (we had a reservation) - and one seat had cold air blowing right down on it. As the host, I sat in that seat. One of my guests laughed at me keeping my scarf on and offered to trade seats. When they sat in my seat, they realized it was too cold and traded back.
The noise level was really high as it got past 7pm. I have a soft voice and no one could hear me.
The bathrooms: were well stocked but are unisex bathrooms. The floors were sticky in the 2 stalls that I went into and the first time was early in the evening. It completely grossed me out!
All in all - it served its purpose of being centrally located and having a well rounded menu. The cons are big deals for me - so probably won’t be back.
Good food in a casual atmosphere. Good quality-price relation. Too noisy. Difficult to have a conversation.
The Smith never disappoints. The food and drinks are consistently delicious and the staff is friendly and efficient. Our group ended up staying at our table for 4 hours, having dinner and then ordering a few rounds of drinks. None of the employees tried to rush us out of the door which is a rare occurrence in NYC restaurants. Highly recommend.
Great ambience in general and serve very fast. It was good experience
My flank steak was tasty but a bit tough. The fries were delicious.
The food was absolutely delicious. We had the pork steak, which my dad said was the best he’s ever eaten, burgers and chicken pot pie. The service and ambience was great. It was very noisy but it was after the NYC marathon so people were festive and jubilant. Highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area.
It’s always a wonderful consistent experience at the Smith Midtown East! The food and service can’t be beat. We eat here at least once a week.
The food is always awesome which is why we keep going back. Service is very very good and super friendly. It’s so noisy it’s hard to hear your table mates. That said, small price to pay for consistent deliciousness!
The server was very attentive and we had great conversation with him. However I did not like how close the tables were to each other. I was basically joining the other tables conversations.
Yes - Wonderful atmosphere for Sunday morning brunch before the NYC Marathon!
Great experience. Had reservation so sat right away for Sunday brunch. Food was healthy , well presented . Wait staff smiling and fast
Stellar experience- from hostess, waitress til finish it was super friendly service and food was hot and delicious.
Amazing Julian is outstanding
Amazing, and amazingly consistent. Absolute best Mac and cheese in the world.
Chef Patrick was amazing!
Need to add gluten free bread to menu
Great food with good service. I’m not certain it’s worth the wait if you don’t have a reservation, but the Bloody Marys are exceptional and the food is very good— novel twists on breakfast/brunch classics. Somewhat noisy and energetic environment. Overall a solid four star experience.
The Smith is one if our favorites for brunch. The menu has many creative yummy options and the service is always good. Very crowded, so make reservations. Noise level is loud, but we like the lively atmosphere.
80th birthday. Awesome food and service. Great pre-play brunch
Great food and service
We were able to get seated very quickly at a comfortable table. We dine at The Smith very often. We had some punches, the chips and tartar for apps, we each got a pasta (shortrib pasta was amazing) shared some sides and desserts. The food was great and timing was on point but we didn’t really enjoy the server. She sounded like she was reading from a broadway script and we definitely felt rushed. We took the hints, but then felt annoyed when there was no one waiting to be sat. Why rush us if there is no one waiting? Wanted to give a lower score because of the service, but the food and drinks were good.
Great food, service and cocktails (they brew their own ginger beer for the Moscow mules!)
Fantastic as always
The Smith is a lovely restaurant. The service was great and food delicious. I would recommend when going out with friends.
